A few weeks ago, while on my way to Lancaster (I work there during the week and travel back to Pennsylvania on the weekends) I had a flat tire. AAA was kind enough to temporarily plug the hole and get me on my way, admonishing me to seek a more permanent repair before returning to Pennsylvania. Thursday morning as I was pulling into work, I noticed that the tire was losing air again, giving me a warning light. That morning, I scheduled a repair at Tire Choice on North Memorial in Lancaster. A technician came out to check my tire. He said that the repair couldn't be done as it was closer than an inch from the sidewall. I said that the center of the hole was 1.33 innches from the sidewall ( I had measured it). He said, " Well, that's too close for me and I'm not comfortable." He shrugged and walked away. That was it. No help. It would have been hard for him to care less how I was going to get home to Pennsylvania. I was in trouble; I was desperate. Fortunately, on my way to Tire choice, I remembered passing Katz Tires. I turned my car around and headed south on North Memorial. It was a block or two away. They could not have been kinder. The technician had me pull my car immediately in front of a bay. Two or three of them descended on the car. They applied a soapy mix and found that the repair wasn't producing any bubbles. They pulled the tire off and found that I must have driven too long on the deflating tire and the belts were beginning to show. I needed a replacement to get home. Since I had four new tires waiting for me at home, they provided me a used tire to get home. They saved the day. Bottom line: whereas Tire Choice offered me no assistance in getting home, Katz Tires saved the Day by going the extra mile when it came to providing diagnostics. If you want my opinion, keep driving past Tire Choice to Katz Tires where they will go the extra mile for you and get you safely to your destination.. read more

Stopped in for oil change. They ran diagnostics on my Hyundai Sonata, topped off all the fluids, checked brakes and said it would need rear and front pads and rotors which I am checking out when to get those done. Stopped in today because after checking they said it sounded like it needed a knock sensor because of the way it was acting. They were very thorough, went over everything with me. A super bunch of guys...very friendly and most helpful. This Tire Choice is under new management and I feel they are doing a great job. They will work with you I feel and not rip you off. Horrible company they do nothing but use an abuse the employees treat them like trash overwork them underpay them. Talk to them like they're trash. The prices are insane and the value is horrible. They don't have a mechanic that knows what they are doing. The one they had is not there anymore that I have seen and he knew what he was doing. The store manager and the rest of the employees could not change a tire if they all helped one another. Store manager with no automotive mechanic experience that says a lot about the company it's all about the green backs not the customer service or experience. read more

Their moto is a joke, all about trust! Lol! Wish I would've read the reviews before I even waisted my time at this place. It's your stereotypical, will take advantage of you and your lack of knowledge kind of mechanic shop. I went there because I was having a problem with one of the sensors in my tire system which was causing my traction light to come on and would occasionally say transmission service required. They quoted me at $1900! Saying that my caliper was seized, which after reading the reviews is apparently a common diagnosis of theirs and that my rotor was so worn that it had melted the sensor and they were afraid it would break off. So they said I needed all 4 new calipers at $189 a piece, new rotors, etc, etc anything to milk every penny out of me. I went to autozone right down the street and got 4 new rotors, 4 break pads and the sensor for less than half of what Monro wanted to charge me for the parts. Lo and behold I take my tire off and the "seized caliper" comes off easily, I didn't even have to replace it. The sensor was not melted at all and with a little wd40 it came right out. I ended up getting all new rotors, break pads and replacing my sensor for less than $600 including the labor that I paid a friend of the family to do the work for me. Fortunately, I knew what was wrong when I went in otherwise, I guarantee they would've told me that I needed a new transmission. Don't let these guys take advantage of you! Do your research and go somewhere that you can actually trust the mechanics not to nickel and dime you for a bunch of stuff that isn't even necessary! read more

Took my 03 ford explorer there when the muffler rusted out. Sat for a while before anyone came in and asked what i needed. Then sat for another half hour before they pulled it in to check it. After another wait a guy came out and told me it needed a muffler which is what i told them. After waiting longer he came back and said it was gonna be $445. Plus they didn't have one so it would be a few days. I told them to call me when it came in. So after taking over an hour to check out my vehicle i left with it still needing a muffler. I ended up going to muffler man and getting it fixed for half the price. Also they never have called me about the muffler i was waiting for. read more

Update: I got my brakes fixed, and lo and behold, I did not need calipers after all, as I was told at Monro. It was NOT "seized up" as I was told. I needed pads, and was told I will need a new rotor within a year or so. Way to go Monro, not only did you miss an easy sale brake job, but you had to go and get greedy, thinking that a grieving woman would or could pay anything you say, just to get to her sister's funeral. I hope you rot in Hell. read more

The guys at this shop are great. Checked my 98 Saturn out for free, put on new brakes and rotors. Finally a shop actually tells me about the bent rim that I was suspicious of for a long time (vibration made me crazy) and they moved it to the back until I get it replaced. I still had a humming and dragging after the brakes and rotors and took it back and they said I have a bearing going out. Gave me a price, said it wasn't a crucial fix at the moment. I definitely feel like they're honest. Price is comparable to any other chain - in fact I called one and they only got down to their price by saying they had specials and coupons. read more

Great service. We developed a squeaking brake on our travels through Ohio, and saw Monro listed on Google maps. We called. They were very pleasant on the phone. Despite having a workload already, they got us in, checked out and patched up in less than 2 hours. Would definitely recommend. read more

The crew here does do nice work when they get to it. Pricing substantially higher than most shops. They just don't seem to have a sense of urgency to get things done. Because of this, they turn away business. A customer came in for an oil change, all that was said to him when he asked about the wait time, we will get to it as soon as we can. Another customer awaiting repairs eventually left. The waiting area and restroom was very dirty, trash can was full, no soap in the dispenser. I will go to a greater distance for future auto repairs. read more
