Edit: unfortunately I must ask readers to completely disregard the part of my review that gives credit for good service. Everything was fine and well until I drove My vehicle out of the shop. I was quoted and purchased both an alignment as well as brake work. This came to a bit over $1,000. I was handed the keys after leaving it half a day and overnight because of a missing part. This was unexpected and last minute notice but still not a big problem and I walked home. The nex day upon picking it up I was reassured that Not only had they test drove it but had disassembled and reassembled some of the work after noticing the car didn't have the get up and go that it should. They contribute to this to transmission issues and recommended I see a specialist. I agreed that I would. After leaving however it was apparent that something was wrong with my brakes. It would take a solid 3 seconds to stop as if I was pushing the breakdown into mud. Immediately called Charles, the store manager, to and mention that I don't believe they bled the brakes nor could they have possibly test drove it and approved of the performance. He apologized and I brought it back a day later after being reassured that it would be safe for me to drive it short distance in the meantime. Today I dropped the car back off and after about an hour received a phone call informing me that it was leaking fluid from the brake system. Charles was sure to let me know that it hadnt been leaking when they did the work prior to me bringing the vehicle back and that they would have noticed the leaking. I explained to him that I believe that. That is all the more reason that I was not at fault seeing that they not only allowed me to leave with faulty job done and the vehicle supposedly not leaking at that point, But also when I called Charles and reported the new issue with my supposedly fixed brakes about 10 min after leaving, he reassured me that it would be safe to drive until Saturday seeing that he could not get me back in that same day. I did not drive long distance and stayed local seeing that it was so hazardous to be driving anyway. Despite this "conversation" I was simply told that he understood but, regardless, it was going to cost me an additional $500 to fix the leak. A leak that I did not have until after they worked on my car. A leak I did not have before I was reassured that I could drive the car with no concern until he could get me back in to fix the mistakes made previously. I spoke to the owner of Gold Star Auto Care for a second opinion and they agreed that I was robbed My boyfriend drove over to confront them about this matter and upon informing them that he would be contacting the better business bureau, charles threatened to call the police. I can't even believe that the manager had the audacity to attempt to charge me after unintentionally admitting the negligence let me just on their part. I am now without a vehicle after spending well over $1,000 to fix exactly what was quoted. I'm normally not the type to complain In fact I go out of my way to leave positive reviews where they are due. But in this case It is the opposite and I feel I need to warn future and current customers of this con job. read more

I took my car in for an alignment once and they broke the gear selector and roasted the clutch. Manager was completely dismissive and customer support wouldn't even return my phone calls. Worst service ever. Never again. Edit: The owner responded requesting I call them, I've called numerous times over a period of weeks, always getting voicemail and politely requesting a call back. ...Nothing. This is rather unsurprising and demonstrative of the service you'll get from this corporation--they just don't care. Details: When I picked up the car, the manager says "did you know your car needs a new clutch?" "It didn't when I dropped it off" I said. It turned out it wouldn't go in reverse and first gear was actually third. I brought the manager out to show him what exactly what was wrong and why and he was like "Don't know how it could have happened. We didn't do anything. Besides, we're closing now and can't do anything about it." I fixed the gear selector myself in the parking lot to get to work. Next day I find the car doesn't hold full power anymore because they glazed the clutch trying to drive in 3rd. Called the manager and got "Wasn't my guys. Couldn't have happened. Clutches just fail. You'll need to call HQ for support." Called customer support and they took my info, but "would need to talk with the manager about it". I received one missed call from support after. I tried calling back many times over a period of weeks, but never got in touch with the support rep. I left my phone number and kindly requested a call back to wrap up the case, but never got one. Ultimately, what would it matter because they were just going to dismiss my case anyways. Truly attrocious service, but there's not anything I can do about it except leave bad reviews. read more

Just to make sure that the correct location gets the poor review (1205 Market Avenue at 12th Street). First off lets say that I used this same location in December and was completely happy & satisfied with the work they did. Charles took excellent care of me. While having my car they did a brake check unfortunately I could noty afford to have that work done at the time. So I knew I needed some brake work, rotors & one of my tires needed wheel bearings so I called them on Thursday afternoon about bringing my car in for this work to be done, let them know I could drop it off Friday night after work when they asked me about bringing it in. I dropped my car off at 5:45 Friday night. Called Sat morning 10ish left them my b/f number since my phone got broke, spoke with Bill who took my contact number. 1:15 rolls around still do not here anything from them so call again. At this time was told they were looking at the front end and would call me shortly. 2 hours go by and still no word from them so had my bn/f call them and they were still working up a quote & asked him if I wanted them to run a check on why my check engine light was on. Told them yes, 5:40 rolls around still no word from them. B/F calls them back AGAIN & this time he is told they tried to call my phone (same ophone I told them was broken at 10ish in the morning almost 8 hours earlier) No work had been done on my car as they weren't able to get the ok to do the work I took my car into be fixed in the first place. An entire day with my car, they are not open on Sun and I have to be at work on Monday morning. Lets just say I am beyond pissed, I could have taken my car somewhere else and had the work done instead I am going to pick up my car & see if there is anyone that can get my car in on a Sunday so that I can have my car to drive 40 min one way to work. This facility to say the least has lost me as a customer and my advice is if you do use them call them ever 30 min to see where they are on your car and give them no excuse to slack off as they clearly did with my car. read more

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL PEOPLE. A couple of years ago, I went there for an oil change and a day after I started to have problems with my power steering so I took it back and they fixed it, I didn't think anything of it I thought it was a coincidence. Next time I got my oil changed and I went there, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. Never went there for an oil change again. As if that wasn't bad enough, I had an even worse experience. I was having problems and this Monro was the one closest to where I was and I didn't want to drive much further. They told me the repairs would cost $664. I took it to someone else, and IN TOTAL, cost me $130. These people are liars, they purposely sabotage your car, and are probably putting money into their pockets the money that you didn't need to spend! GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE! read more

My car couldn't make it to work. Brought it down here first thing in the morning and they got me in. Staff was very welcoming. The estimate was more than I expected but they worked with me and gave me an estimate I could pay. Business looks cleaned up from what I remember a few years ago. I have a fleet of vehicles and they have serviced them all and always provide swift, courteous and quality work. The owner is a genuinely stand up guy who cares about his product and his customers' satisfaction. read my previous review. Four weeks after going into this shop and being convinced to pay 240 dollars for some repair i didnt know i needed, I took my car to another TRUSTED mechanic and friend. He took a look at the work that was done. on paper, the T rod piece was listed as $140.00 at MONRO's. He said the part they added was a $10-15 dollar piece. and labor would be no more than an hour. There you have it folks... x 10 mark up on this piece that was probably laying around their shop. my mechanic friend said he would have charged me $100 dollars total and for any other customers. The more i learn about fixing cars, and the cost of labor and things like that, the more Monro mufflers and brakes on the corner of Market and 12th comes out to be shady. I'm not calling them crooks...yet. But they appear more than willing to take advantage of you if you know little to nothing about cars. The paperwork said they gave me a free alignment, but there's no proof of that. My tires were all under inflated and caused my car to pull left. Altogether, i paid $240.87 for a $10-15 part, an hour of labor and a poor alignment that was supposedly free. You've been warned. read more

I don't understand why this place has such a low rating - I stopped in on a Saturday to get an oil change. I wound up getting free windshield wipers out of the deal and the guys here were so nice! They finished up the job as fast as possible -- overall, I had a fantastic experience here! I think customers shouldn't be turned off by this location because it's close to downtown... It's better than other Monros in the Canton area and quite honestly the best I've ever gone to. I plan to be a regular customer. :) read more

I was taken advantage of pretty bad here. I went for an oil change and to have my muffler looked at. They came back and said I had to replace my serpentine belt and I reluctantly agreed, but for some reason they loosened my tensioner bolt and left it loose, which resulted in it backing out, the tensioner pulley to shift out of place, and thus destroying the brand new serpentine belt. While driving home, I noticed a really loud squeaking. With the serpentine belt not working, my power steering fluid stopped pumping and the power steering went out while driving causing my car to loose control and to go off the road. When I had it towed to them to look at, I told them to just look at it but don't do anything without my authorization. After 30-60 mins after they looked at it, they brought me over to look at it and my tensioner was pushed back into place and the tensioner bolt was broken off inside of the engine block. They denied breaking it even though I had pictures of it not broken hour before. They told me it was not their fault and was Toyota's fault for not recalling a poor design. They said I would have to pay to have them fix it, which would involve un-mounting the engine and partially removing it to to be able to drill the bolt out. I told them to hold off on doing anything because I wanted to investigate their claim. I called and asked a friend of mine, who is a Toyota service mechanic with 22 years of experience, for his opinion and showed him all the pictures I took before they touched it the second time (without permission, might I add). He said the pictures proved definitively the problem was caused by mechanic error and he had never heard of any problems with the tensioner bolt like they claimed. I brought this Toyota mechanic with me to talk to the manager. The manager said he was currently too busy to talk and that we could wait. Annoying, but willing to wait, we stepped outside to wait and are chatting together for a few minuets when all the sudden 4 cop cars (yes 4) pull up all around us and asked for our ID's. THE MANAGER CALLED THE COPS ON US AND REFUSED TO TALK TO US. After the cops realized what was going on, they told us this was the 4th time this year Monro Muffler has done this to other customers. The cops said it was a very shady practice, but that Monro Muffler calls the cops on customers who have a complaint about the work they do, and the reason for this is the Monro has a policy that if the cops are called, they refused to talk to you or to allow you on the property. When I tried to call their corporate office, they just asked me "are you Mr. Miller?", and I said yes. I was told to never call back and hung up on. So now I am left with my tensioner assembly laying in pieces on the floor of my passenger side seat and looking at $400-$1000 cost to have it fixed and the people responsible for it are refusing to even talk to me. The cops encouraged me to pursue legal action against them because they don't want this kind of shady business practice in their town, but that their hands were tied and it was a matter for the court system. read more
