Walmart Auto Care Centers

This Walmart Auto Center in Terre Haute saved my day…read more After changing my tires at a Walmart near St Louis (not this one, a different one in Missouri), I noticed that my tire light came on. I drove back to that Walmart, and they checked the tire. It was a few pounds low, and they added air. I asked them if they could figure out why a brand new tire was leaking air. They told me that it wasn't a big deal, and that it was only a few pounds. I told them, that I was driving 800 miles and could not afford a mistake, could they please check it? They told me that if I had another problem, to stop at any Walmart in the country. Well, a couple of hours down the road, and the light came on again. I continued driving, but could feel the car pulling left. I was also pulling a motorcycle trailer. The closest Walmart on my route, was the Terre Haute location. I got there less than an hour before closing. They were very busy. I explained the situation. They lent me a floor jack, so I could unhook my trailer and drive up the car to the doors. They put me in line, and within a short while, checked my tires. It turns out, that the other store had not properly installed my valve stem! The Terre Haute store checked out my tires, and quickly got me back on the road. They went over and above by helping me align the trailer ball, and hook the trailer back up to my car. Excellent job. This is the place you should go for tires, oil, and batteries. Thanks Guys!

I arrived at the Take 5 store on Lafayette Ave. in Terre Haute, IN at 6:55AM on Monday, 8/14/23…read more There were no lights on in the store, so I assumed no employees were on site yet. At 7:06AM, the employee arrived, opened the store and directed me inside at 7:12AM. My oil change was completed, and I pulled out at 7:29AM. The oil change went fine, with the exception of 2 issues- one minor and one a little more serious. Minor issue (or more accurately, a minor inconvenience): the last 2 times I was at Take 5 (7/6/23), the technicians told me that they were going to enter my veteran status in the computer, so the discount would automatically apply. This didn't happen so today's technician required me to present my retired military ID card in order to receive the discount. Again, not a big deal and I don't feel entitled but any available discount on a $100 oil change for a 2019 Toyota Camry is pretty important. 2nd issue: when the technician completed my oil change (full disclosure: I didn't realize this until I had already left the shop), prior to leaving the shop, he didn't have me start my car so he could check for leaks. Not the world's biggest problem because I checked for leaks myself, but there are likely customers who are either physically unable to confirm no leaks or who don't know how to. Typically, I get great service at Take 5 and I will continue to go there because of (1) the normally great customer service, and (2) the close proximity to my residence. I am a District Manager in the food service industry, so I fully understand the current staffing challenges that many businesses face. Having worked in a quick lube store in my previous life, I understand how tough it can be for 1 employee to run the store. The technician (Dquon) wasn't wearing a uniform shirt, so I had to get his name from the receipt. He was efficient but clearly was suffering from the "Monday morning blues". As a senior manager, I have spent a lot of time helping my junior managers and associates do their jobs when staffing was an issue. I don't know if Dquon is the store manager and if not, it probably would have been a good idea for the manager to be on-site to ensure the store opened on time and that customer service expectations are met. I will continue to be a loyal Take 5 customer.

Well, they only replaced the battery, and the car died an hour after pick-up. Turns out, it needed a new alternator, despite my confirming prior to pick-up that it didn't. Instead, I was told that the old one passed their tests and that it was ready to be taken back early. I can already hear the reply to this review saying, "we said it needed more tests before you take it." This is a flat-out lie. I was told it needed new rear brakes, not more alternator tests. I'm not even going to get started on the fact that they replaced the wrong brakes and still charged us for it. Overall, service is very overpriced and very dishonest.

I left it for an estimate. Well, I get a call the next day and they quote me 2 prices. With bad pulleys and belt - $527 With tensioner, all pulleys, and belt $1,157. I was gobsmacked. Im on social security so i told them no and picked up after paying the diagnostic fee. I have always worked on my own cars until i turned 69,, lol. Decided to do it myself. Gates Serpentine Kit $325. Turns out it is an easy job on my Infiniti G37X. Less than an hour start to finisn. I know garages charge more on parts but even if kit was $600 that would be $550 for labor. Like i say i know everything is more expensive. Seems like they want timing belt replacement prices for a serpentine belt. I need recommendations for a new shop.

Have been taking my car to Wilguess for years & they are the best and most reasonable place in the whole city (to my knowledge). They do engine maintenance, drum & rotor work, and pretty much any general car issue. They do NOT do the following; body work, glass replacement, electrical/wiring issues, wheel alignments. Wilguess is a mom&pop local store, they are ONLY open 8-5 M-F (they close promptly at 5pm). You must call and make an appointment, or else just drop off your car & they will get to it in 2-3days time. They are soo reasonable on price. As standard they will use NEW parts, but if you request they will buy USED to save you some extra cash. Used parts like headlights & stuff. Very knowledgeable mechanics, no BS with you. Might be quiet or gruff at first, BUT ask them questions & they go out of their way to help answer it. I ALWAYS ask where they would take their car for some service & am always happy with their recommendations. In a nutshell, give Wilguess a chance. They are 100% local & you will be totally satisfied with your experience. PS: No shuttle service.

My husband and I were passing through Terre Haute in our RV, and noticed unusual tire noise and excessive wear on one front tire. Tire Barn replaced both front tires within 45 minutes. Additionally, Tire Barn had found a bad idler arm and thought both front wheels needed new bearings. So they referred us to Burke Spring and Alignment -- and even made an appointment for us. Burke was just waiting for us to arrive. Burke replaced the driver's side hub assembly, but discovered the other wheel didn't need work. They ordered the parts for the idler arm and idler arm mount, and hoped to finish by 2-3pm that day. We had reservations over 300 miles away for that night, so they worked through their lunch hour to get it done as quickly as possible. We pulled out at 1pm and were on our way. These were very friendly and competent people who understood our plight! We would recommend both Tire Barn and Burke Spring & Alignment very highly! read more

I have been a customer here for a long time with several sets of tires. I just got a new car and had a slow leak due to a nail. They quickly took care of the problem. The technician that worked on the car was a happy man and really nice to work with and the guy who oversaw the job and pulled the car out was paying attention to the fact that I was wearing a mask (because I am compromised) and said...I really tried not to touch anything. When I went in to pay they said that it was on them, they appreciated the business and I told them that I would be back when this car is ready for a new set of tires. I would not go anywhere else! My husband and I were traveling across Indiana on Sep. 2, 2021, when my husband noticed one of our tires was losing air. Not knowing anything about the area we pulled in to Tire Barn to see what they could do for us. We were told it would take 30 minutes. We went to sit down in the lobby and the car was already in the bay. They were so professional and prompt doing their job. We walked out in 30 minutes and were back on the highway. We want to say 'Kudos' to the employees at the Tire Barn on 4423 US-41 S in Terre Haute. We didn't get the names of the employees who helped us but we were impressed. To top it off they didn't even charge us! read more

We were completely blown away by the outstanding service that Jordan and his team provided to us in our desperate situation. August 7, 2021 we had a tire blow out on our van just 3 hours into our 2 week vacation and had to be towed to Tire Barn. We have an older van so the tires are not readily available. Fortunately, Tire Barn had 2 tires in the size we needed. Jordan and his team went far above what other tire businesses would do. In fact, I build locations for one of their competitors. Their service was incredible. They were able to get us back on the road and in turn saved our vacation. read more

We got a completely flat tire around 5 pm two days before Christmas-- we were right near the Tire Barn when this happened, so pulled right into their parking lot. They were getting ready to close but thankfully made time for us and quickly fixed our problem (a frozen valve stem.) We watched them work on our tire from the customer waiting room, and they were very thorough in every step to make sure they fixed the problem. We were so thankful for all that they did to make sure we got safely on our way-- I would highly recommend this store for your tire needs!! read more

This place is probably the best place for tire repair and alignments. I went there two weeks ago and had the tires rotated and checked the alignment. The wait time was not too bad, about 40 minutes and they were very nice. To give these technicians credit is an understatement! They did not charge me a penny for rotation or checking alignment. However, I had my alignment checked and performed elsewhere and it was 79.99, while at Tire Barn it is only 69.99. Why is that other place charging 10 more dollars? I am now a repeat customer here. read more

My car tire had a slow leak and I took it into the terre haute tire barn. Jordan immediately said hello and ask me what problem I was having with my tire. Ask a few questions took my key and fixed it right then and there. Fastest service I have ever had. Amazing customer service. I will come back to this location anytime. We have taken the best care of it wanting it to last many years. In 2022 the paint started peeling off overnight in sheets on the top of the car. We took it to Toyota who told us they would fix it. They had the car 3-4 days and only repainted the very top of the car where the sunroof was. Last year the hood started peeling in the same way. I took the car to Scott's custom colors and he offered to paint it for $500. So I did the hood out of my own pocket. Now the back passenger door is peeling and I'm being quoted $2500.00 by several places to get this piece fixed. Toyota tells me the time limit for fixing this for them is up to this was a problem with the paint color blizzard pearl. It doesn't stick properly to the car. They have known about this issue for years. Many of their cars made before 2018 had this issue. Why didn't they paint the whole car when the issue began and I took it to them the first time or at the very least help me fix it now? I was told it would cost $10,000 to repaint my whole car. My car is basically ruined. Toyota has brushed me off. When I took the car in for them to take pictures, they told me they would get back to me within 2 weeks. They were going to check into fixing it. They never called and Fred the general manager of service never sent the pictures in. They arent interested in helping. We have bought 4 cars from Toyota of terre haute. This is the way they treat loyal customers. I like Toyotas but won't buy from this dealership again.

Owner Zach agreed to provide written documentation for son as he had to be towed on day of test which Zach agreed to. Two weeks later, son still attempting to contact Zach to honor his word. I ask Owner why he hasn't followed through and get "I'm very busy at this time, and harassing me and saying I haven't honored my word would probably not be in your best interests. Remember you need something from me .. so when I free up I will get the letter to him. Until then sit tight and refrain from talking to me like I haven't done my job, have a great day." If this is how this shop operates for customers referred by former co-workers, imagine how they will treat you just in off the street. Save your time, money and frustration and go elsewhere.
