I also got the vegan chocolate zucchini muffin which was good but extremely rich - it took three days to finish! read more

Went to West Virginia for a weekend away from the city (DC) and found Tip Top... holy moly, it was AMAZING. I got a vanilla latte that was creamy and tasty and a nutterbutter cookie. The cookie was incredible: it was huge and the cookie part was so soft in the middle and crispy around the edges. I would have eaten all of them. It's beautiful inside, too. I can't even put into words how nice it is in there. it's so relaxing. I loved how there are lots of different seating areas -- couches, comfy arm chairs, a big table, some bar-style seating, regular table and chairs. Great coffee! I have taken to drip coffee and they did not disappoint. I enjoyed the Ethiopian beans, a nice dark coffee. The store has a great atmosphere: little booths to tuck into, open tables to spread out a group on, even a kids area. The mood and music was also trendy coffee store style. Super gorgeous, high quality coffeshop. It looks like it could belong in Brooklyn or Portland. I got a pour over which was very good and I got some good hiking info from the barista while I waited. The blueberry and chocolate scone was utterly delicious and had some seriously expensive chocolate in it. There is also a bar with some fancy cocktails. They have some sandwich selections, but it's a pretty small menu. I think they do dinner certain nights of the week. Overall super hip and delicious spot to check out. read more

The scones are my favorite and it's a very cute shop, but I wish the staff were more polite. More often than not, I have felt like a bother to those working when I go in. I actually went in yesterday, granted it was right before closing, to see about a cider than I have been looking for. The open sign was still on so I thought I could go in for just a minute to talk to the staff and tell them my intentions, but I was met with a horribly rude attitude, so much so that I felt embarrassed for being there. After a cold evening of checking out the little shops on the main street in town, we rolled in to warm up with a hot cup of coffee. My bf and I had done a little research prior to our trip to Thomas, and this is one of the places we were looking forward to trying. We both opted for mocha lattes. We also split a ginger molasses cookie. It was delicious, sweet, and had a little bite. It was good. The coffee was enjoyable as well. I loved the decor and atmosphere of the place. I'd definitely love to visit it again. I'd have given it 5 stars, but the length of wait we had for 2 lattes in an empty establishment was far too long. If 4.5 stars was an option, I'd have rather been able to rate it as such. read more

We always swing by Tip Top for coffee/ breakfast in the mornings, and a drink in the evenings when we take a weekend trip to the area. My husband and I come to the nearby state parks several times a year and have always had a great experience at tip top. It is an interesting concept, coffee and pastries in the front, and a bar on the side serving up an excellent selection of local beers and amazing cocktails. The cocktail list is impressive and they carry high quality spirits. The employees are always incredibly good, willing to talk, and genuinely making sure you have a great experience. The coffee is excellent. We especially love the pour over options. What a treat!! This weekend we also tried a bouchon which was something we were not familiar with but absolutely loved. The cream cheese for the bagels is made in house and very tasty. It is apparent the owner is devoted to serving high quality products, with local, top notch ingredients. After a weekend back home near Keyser, WV; we decided to make a trip to Blackwater Falls (haven't been there since I was much younger). I was out of my mind for a good cup of coffee and everyone in Davis I asked simply raved about the Tip Top. Unfortunately, we got there too late to try much, but the barista offered me a drip coffee. As we strolled through town, I sipped my coffee and was pleasantly surprised how tasty it truly was and vowed I would return! Living in Pittsburgh, there are plenty of coffeehouses and although the ambiance is usually pleasant, the coffee rarely stacks up. This past Sunday, we decided to take a little drive and made our way back to Thomas. Not only was I there for a great cup of coffee, I also discovered the stock of Jack Rudy Tonic and Forty Weight beans. We had a cappuccino, hot chocolate, and shared a no bake cookie...so worth the drive. We again took a walk to check out some antique stores and returned for sandwiches and no joke...the best gin and tonic ever. We naturally couldn't leave without stocking up on coffee, tonic, and some Olive & Sinclair chocolate...not that we wanted to leave! We honestly had such an enjoyable evening. I have to say, employees can make or break a review, but our baristas/bartenders were laid-back, friendly, and effortlessly handled the ebbs and flows. The locals are as charming as could be and definitely made us feel right at home as well. We simply can't wait to return and thank you for making my trips home even more worthwhile! read more

The crew at Tip Top know their stuff; making hot and smooth caffeine drinks to perfection in a mug or to-go cup. They use organic and healthy ingredients in their food and beverages and everything is fresh. They have a limited selection of pastries/food and beverages, BUT that's a good thing because they focus on providing quality items instead of obnoxious quantity. There's a cute small bar in the back that serves adult beverages at night. The coffee shop has a decent amount of seating for the size of the building and it's very clean.
