Basic gel manicure. Nothing wrong with the appointment. I was a walk in and they got me right in. Service took about 40 min. They didn't soak off my old gel polish but instead drilled it off. Nail shaping is kind of uneven. I prefer round nails but got more of a square shape on most of them. No hand massage. Light colored polish started fading at the tips as soon as that evening. Day 4 and no chips or breaks just faded tips. I don't live here and didn't have time to go back and get them fixed. Overall an ok experience. $35 read more

I just started coming here for my manicure and pedicure for the last couple of months and I'm glad I made the transition. I was going to a different salon literally a block away but they were closed on a day that I was in dire need of my mani and pedi so I decided to give Tipsy Nails a try. The staff here are so friendly and did everything i requested. I usually get gel polish on my toes and dip on my fingers. The manicurist was very gentle on my fingernails-- which is important when buffing with the filing grinder thingy-ma-jingy. I don't know the name of it so that's what I'm gonna call it. If they add too much pressure with that filing grinder thingy-ma-jingy on your nails... it feels like your nails are burning. But the manicurist didn't do that... she was very gentle and still got the job done. And when she applied the dip polish on my fingernails, she made sure not to apply too much so it wouldn't come out too thick. I was very happy. So I've been coming here ever since then. Every time I come in, everyone is so happy and they make me feel right at home. I don't even have to tell them what I want.. they already know what I like. read more

My niece came in town to pack up her apartment and move to San Diego. I went to visit for a day to help her and we both needed a pedicure. My niece hopped on Yelp and found Tipsy Nails not too far from her home with four stars. She called ahead and got us an appointment. They were ready to serve us when we arrived. My nail technician did a marvelous job. She was very meticulous with the polish application and she cleaned out my ingrown toenails on my big toes;) She also provided a lovely massage for my legs and feet and added a little oil to my toenails after she finished polishing them. I'd never had a nail technician do this before. She told me it would help keep my cuticles soft. Makes sense! They never offered anything to drink. 4 different people stopped by to ask me the same question before someone actually stopped to do my nails. I went in for dip powder. I had been going to Tipsy Nails since they opened, but I hadn't been able to return for about a year. I recently went back, and I remembered why I love this nail salon. At Tipsy, they have all of the latest nail products: a huge variety of nail polishes, acrylics, dipping powders, etc. They are the only place I've gone to that has glow in the dark powder. In town for a few days and decided (thanks to yelp) to head to this salon. It was within walking distance from my hotel and aLsO had pretty decent reviews. The salon is beside an Ale house for that person in your life who would rather not watch you get your nails done. I walked in and the salon could definitely do a whole renovation in terms of decor and upkeep (could be minus 1-2 stars if not for my nails). The area I was in was okay and an unopened sterilized packet held the tools used on me. I solely went for a dip manicure on my natural nails and Kevin started my nails soon after being seated. Such a pleasant guy and when I showed him what I was looking for he was awesome about suggestions. He offered great conversation and was quite entertaining. My nails are BEAUTIFUL!!!! To start, I'd like to say that I've been coming here for 6 years. They've done gorgeous nails and treated me amazing. However, every visit, the quality gets lower and the prices go higher. I do not care how much my service was as long as I get what I paid for. I went in for full set and a deluxe pedicure. I was asked to sit for my pedicure and another women proceeded with my pedi, amazing job, best pedicure ever! As she was working on my toes, Vicky brought her stuff to do my nails as I'm getting my pedicure (already uncomfortable/awkward position) you can't relax if your body is turned to the side. I told Vicky I wanted a Smiley French pink/white set for my nails. I was her second to last customer and it was 5:30pm so it was getting dark and the lights in the salon were dim in most parts. She rushed through my nails but it's okay because Vicky is the best at her job there. I looked at my nails real quick because Vicky had a customer waiting on her and so I went to pay $55 for nails, $55 for pedi, and $30 tip. Once I got home, the nails were AWFUL! Not shaped correctly, the French line was all over the place, sides of my nails weren't painted, the white portion of the French wasn't evenly painted, cuticles looked horrible, side were very bulky. I posted the nails on my social media accounts and over 50 PEOPLE MESSAGED ME on how bad my nails were! I went first thing in the morning and told Vicky how unhappy I am with my nails. She didn't apologize, she had an attitude, and was upset about it. She asked me to come back after 5pm because she's too busy and has appointments. I was so upset that I asked for a refund. She was hesitant and didn't want to but she didn't want to make a scene so she refunded $55 and not the tip. If I had noticed how bad my nails were, I wouldn't have tipped her to begin with. If she would she would have apologized or at least cared, I would've came back, no problem. I am giving 2 stars because of how down hill this salon is going... **Update** Not even a full week has passed and half of my nail started to lift until I had to remove it to prevent bacteria growth. I wanted to try a new nail salon that was closer than the one I normally go to and let's just say I will not be back. This was the worse pedicure and gel manicure I've ever had. I had dip and wanted to change to gel for easier removal bc I don't always have time to go to the salon. She basically used a drill to take off majority of the dip and then has me "soak". I've only ever had them smooth off a little of the layer and then wrap it in foil and acetone but I grinned and bared it. She cuts my nails and doesn't care if they are all different lengths. No length check or anything. We moved to my pedicure and it was not relaxing at all. Everything was rushed and done poorly. She kept messing up on my toes and they are sloppy. When we finally get to my nails, she's saying that I should choose a different color for my nails bc it's gonna be see through bc the color is too light. I've had light nails before without a problem and wanted so badly to just say get someone else but they don't seem to have enough staff for the people who kept walking in. She did 3-4 layers at an attempt to make them non see through. Either their products are super cheap or she just doesn't know what she's doing. She stood while doing my nails and never put the clear coat on my toes and added it in between doing my nails. Just all around bad experience. On top of that, I was charged $10 to remove dip which I've never been charged when getting my nails redone. Only if I want them to remove them and nothing else was done. The lady said her name is "Roe" and she seemed either new or just over doing nails. She should retire. Do yourself a favor and ask for someone else if you go. read more

The work she was doing was just unclean and unprofessional. Honestly wanted nice long tips and decided to go with something that I thought "she can't screw this up" I was wrong. I've been coming here for some years now. The staff has changed and Vicky is amazing. She is sweet and takes her time. I have been waited in by others there as well. Usually if you have a picture of a color or a certain style of nail you want, they will do it. Very polite, always cordial. They strive to give you what you want. Be aware that they are popular so you might have to wait a bit. That's not a problem for me. I just go on my off days from work and get what I need. The options for colors is endless! I have even brought in lipstick and they matched it! Clothes, lipstick, wallets have all been matched for me. Also, her mom is awesome at pedicures as well. The atmosphere makes you feel comfortable and I've never had such an amazing staff. I'm one of the regulars. Gel is a must for me on nails and toes. It lasts until I come in next time. I came here and she squeezed me in the moment she heard it was for my wedding and heard the panic in my voice. Wow! I had high hopes for this salon according to the views. This guy "Harry or Henry" was the nail Technician. Apparently he had only been working there a very short time .... And the pictures are worth a thousands words and a thousand no's. He "added" the tips on the thumbnails to "even them out. Really? And he never completely smoothed out the full as evidenced by the accompanying pictures. Why is it so hard for someone to do their job correctly? I guess if his attitude was any indication, he did not want to do it. So I hope that anyone who sees this salon, especially tourists will either think of another one or at least don't "Harry/ Henry" do your nails. Drive further. To the owner of this salon, this must be an embarrassment to you. Think about retraining this tech or possibly letting him go. read more

I made an appointment, when I arrived I wasn't asked my name or my appointment time and still waited for over 30 mins so there was no point to it. I got a regular manicure and pedicure and the paint didn't even last a full 24 hours before it started to chip. I'm used to regular manicures lasting me 7-10 days. It was a waste of money. read more

Bottom Line: Very Happy with the service and I plan on going back! Stopped at another nail place less than a 1/4 mi away - the Yelp Reviews were terrible. I drove one more block and saw this place. There were quite a few reviews and the overall reviews were good. I Walked in on a Sunday morning and there were 3 other customers there. All three were regulars.. While I was there a husband and wife walked in and again they are regulars. - always a good sign. Vicky greeted me and told me it would be a few minutes and it was. I got a full set of acrylic nails put on and had a special polish request of matte black with shiny black tips. She did a great job on both the acrylic and the polish. The place was clean, they nail techs were very friendly and I was very happy with the service. The total cost was $28.00 which I thought was a bargain. Love this salon and the employees. Not only are all the techs great in what they do but they're super nice. Only down fall is when they're packed there's not much room where you can sit and wait. That doesn't take away from the great art these techs do! Also majority of them all speak English which is something i know people look for. I recently decided to give this place a try and I must say I'm not disappointed. I walked in it was a Friday around 1pm and was immediately taken care of by Amy. The place looked clean and the color selection is huge. Amy did a great job at doing my manicure and the gel color application was good. The only thing i noticed after getting home is that like 2 of the nails have a dot under the gel polish and I'm thinking it's probably because I wasn't told to wash my hands before applying the gel which I intend on doing myself the next time I go in there to get a mani. I definitely recommend this place and I will be going back. I do think a gel mani should cost a little less than what i was charged (which was $30) Edit:: so on 7 of my nails the polish started to lift off of the nail from the base of the nail where the cuticle starts.
