Ben at Tips n Toes was meticulous with my dip polish. Not a talker which was relaxing for me. I needed tips placed so total was $48. Next time charge will be for soak off and dip which is $40. This is my 3rd Dubuque salon for dip. They all wore masks and you're required to wear a mask and you need an appointment. Update: within three days one nail chipped at corner. Day 5 another. Now it's week 3 and they are all coming off. It's frustrating because in other states, dip polish will last till your nails completely grow out. So, I expect the dip to stay on at least for 4 weeks. Luckily I can file dip down. I probably won't go back. I wish Dubuque had reliable services that can be found in other urban areas. read more

Overall, my experience at Tips & Toes was good. They got me in quickly and all of the employees I interacted with were nice. I went there to get my acrylic nails removed and replaced with shellac. They didn't seem to understand what I wanted at first but then another employee came over and we got it all worked out. My only complaints are that my nail tech wasn't super concise with the file and caused two of my cuticles to bleed and he used one of the "fake nails" to remove the remainder of my fake nails after he had filed them down, but then put the nail he used back in the box (to presumably be used on another customer). They did have a sterilizer and appeared to clean most of the equipment after they used it on me. read more

Worst mani/pedi ever!! Made an appointment, yet walk-ins after me received service before I did. Pedicure was great, until I saw how much of the edges that were missed. Had to wait another 30 minutes for mani, again, while walk-ins received service prior. Gal doing the mani, was more concerned with the register and her possible tips, than doing her job!. Only did cuticles on 1 hand (register), didn't finish filing (register), didn't do the massage (???), and when she realized she missed polish on half of a nail she tried to use the clear coat to "move it around". Went to Tips & Toes in Dubuque on Saturday Feb. 4th, 2023 all I wanted was a Pedicure no polish. I usually do my own feet yet thought I'd treat myself. That was a big mistake & a big waste of money. This was the WORST Pedicure I've ever had in my life. Never clipped my nails, never filed them, cut a little cuticle. She used what looked like a cheese grater on my heel callous which I expected yet even that was half-assed and not thorough. She spent most of her time rubbing lotion on my calves and kept asking 'Feel good'??? If I wanted a massage I'd go to a Deep Tissue Massage Therapist not to a pedicure joint for a disingenuis calf rub and call it a day! I didn't go for a massage of my calves, I went to get my feet freshened up. Give this place a giant pass. Plus the website states a basic pedicure is $35 and when you get there it's $37 with tax $39.50. A WASTE of MONEY! Don't go there, you've been warned! read more

They took too much off of the sides of all my nails and every single one of them now is tearing past the quick. I have never had this happen And it hurts! They are in too big of a hurry to listen to the customer as one is working on the manicure and one is working on your pedicure and they talk to the others across the room. I went in for a full acrylic set with gel polish. The lady was nice and tried to make conversation but it was awkward. No big deal, I don't mind. My main issue was with the finished product. My nail shape was uneven even though I brought it up more than once with the tech. The polish was sloppy and began chipping almost right away, despite being gel. I wanted a shellac manicure and when I sit down, the guy proceeds to try to give me a set of acrylic nails. I say that that's not what I want and of course, he doesn't understand what I'm saying so someone else has to come over and explain and from that point, he seemed irritated. I was hesitant due to the bad reviews but when I came their customer service was really good. I get pedicures on the regular but am not near home to get one from my spa I frequent. My lady listened to everything I asked and I am really picky because I get bad calluses and most places don't get all of my calluses off and she did a great job. My color and nail paint job was up to par and I walked out super happy with my service and glad I didn't say no due to the reviews. I got acrylics with dip. My nails scuffed and cracked the same day I got them done. Now, four days later, they're starting to pucker and peel. Would not recommend. The absolute worst manicure I have ever had. My regular place was booked so thought I would try Tips and Toes...but sure wish I didn't. Nail cuticle area got cut and was bleeding, girl was very fast and rough, hardly any lotion or hand massage, nail polish all over edges of finger bed, edges along sides of nails missing polish, etc, etc. Not to mention that the place is dirty and tacky. Wow. I did not see that other review before I came here. I try to be easy going, but it really wasn't a good experience. I went for a mani/pedi with a good friend I was visiting and two teenage daughters still in school did our nails. (I know this because they were talking about getting supplies at Target.) They were obviously young, too, because they bickered back and forth the whole time. I wanted to overlook that and forgive them because I knew they are kids, but one of them stole the foot scrubber from the other in the beginning, put it in my tub, and then the other girl grabbed it from my tub and used it on my friend. That was weird. During my mani, she had me put my fingers in cold water and then didn't do much to my cuticle besides cutting at them, and I was nervous because they weren't warmed up with hot water or oil first. A few days later, my polish is off, and my cuticles obviously were not pushed down in the slightest. Again, I try to be patient, but I would not come back here. The sad part is that their massage chairs are incredible... but I bet I could find that elsewhere. read more

All of the techs were friendly but seemed rushed. My tech was watching TV while clipping my cuticles -- one of my pet peeves. Massage was nice. the first couple of times i went here they did really well. the past two times i have been here they have been horrible. my acrylics aren't straight, they aren't the shape or length i wanted. they are bumpy and have little bumps in them from stuff in the gel polish. the line design isn't straight. he drilled under my nail and went under my real nail halfway down so it hurt a lot and he just kept pulling my hand hard every time i moved because it hurt so bad. the matte top coat doesn't even go to the bottom of the regular polish. there's paint on my hands and my hands now hurt alot. Ok, update: gave it another chance hoping I'd have the one lady. Well this time I had the young girl. I came in today at like 1pm thinking no one would be there. I got a pedi... terrible. She hardly scraped the bottom of my feet, didn't cut my cuticles and didn't rub. So disappointed. I then went to get my dip nails done and got a different lady. Wow. And that lady actually hurt me. She was rushing so bad that she was literally filing my skin. Then when I was done she had dip polish stuck all over my skin. Ugh such a bad experience today. Very very disappointed. My fingers literally hurt! Save your money and go elsewhere. I hate when they do a crappy rushed job. Especially when I leave hurting and had to constantly say ouch ouch. Never again. read more

I went in to get a basic acryllic set of nails with shellac gel. It was very rushed and Steven my technician was not friendly and very rough with my hands. He looked at me incredulously when I asked for shorter nails, I had to ask about 4 times. I finally gave up and just left them the length he had. They charged me 60$ and I got no extras. The nail shape I picked was free, as coffin and other shapes were an extra 10 dollars. My thumb started chipping the next day! When I go to capri for a 20$ shellac that stays on atleast a week before chipping. Never coming back. read more

Service was not the best. The person who did my friends toes and my finger nails kept answering and checking his phone. Not the store phone but his cell phone. No one ever asked anything about what we wanted and the color that I got isn't the same as what I picked from the book. I was looking for a place to get a quick pedicure after traveling all day. I found this place right around the corner from the hotel where I was staying. Talk about great service! They got me right in, even though I think they were about to close (hours on the door were different then on Yelp). Not only did they help me find the perfect color I was looking for, but they did more than just the basics. After being on a plane all day, it was amazing to have a sugar scrub and massage with my pedi! They even talked to me and said they were under new management. My wedding was going to be the next day when I went in to get my nails done. The first issue was my own fault because I said that I wanted gel French tip, thinking that they were fake nails, when actually it was just white polish and gel coat. Before they got to the third white tip I asked if fake nails would be added and he said no. I mentioned that that's what I thought was being done, which it wasn't but my own mistake. (I was under the impression from a previous visit to another salon that gel nails are fake just more money because they last longer.) Guess I was misinformed before. So after another customer came into the salon, the person working on mine swapped with some one else and worked on the new customer. (Odd because you would think the original person would want the nails to be consistent). The original person for mine was talking to me about my wedding and being very friendly, while the person he swapped with didn't say anything the rest of the time. It was basically like they just wanted to get it over with. The first person also paid more attention to detail. Nails are done but not 100% satisfied as some of them still had white debris under them from the dremmel or didn't even line up with the sides of my real nail. The nails were also not always the same consistent shape or powder applied evenly. I also had two cuts that had bled from being hit with the file probably to many times. The price was also different than quoted. I was told fake French was 33 but it ended up being 42. Then I felt bad not leaving a tip for both so I charged another 10 on top of that since they accept tips from cards only if they are 10 dollars or more. They added jewels to my nails which was possibly more but didn't let me know that. I should've said that I wasn't satisfied but didn't really notice the faults until after I got a good look at them and I'm not one for confrontation. I don't know if people who are more experienced work at a different time or I'm just too picky but I won't be going back. read more
