They didn't sanitize their tools, I had made an appointment the only one working was the owner so she did my manicure and pedicure and she did a horrible job she used an exfoliating tool on me that I could see was used on somebody else I was horrified and left and came home and took all the polish off myself sanitized my feet and hands in alcohol called the owner and they're refusing to give me a refund. I've tried a bunch of nail salons across the suburbs, and Tips 2 Toes is my absolute favorite by FAR! Young is the kindest person I've ever met and always takes the time to check in with her customers and remembers the stories they tell her. Service is amazing and you can tell that so much care goes into each manicure or pedicure they provide. The salon is cozy and clean, with a good movie always playing, and tools are always sterilized and fresh. Every time I go to Tips 2 Toes, I feel so taken care of and so much happier when I leave! I will never ever go to this place again. The woman was soooo rude. I am ticklish on my feet and get foot cramps. she forced me to point my toes the whole time. she scrubbed the hell out of my feet. I apologized to her. I also told her she didn't have to scrub my feet. I haven't gotten a pedicure in 9 months. Then she scratched my shin with the scrub salt. I have a scratch now on my shin. she was a total bitch! I use to work for Clinique and Lancôme. I use to do makeovers and I was a counter Manager. I would never ever treat a client like this. I see it's been over 3 years since I last reviewed, that's because I only go here when I can't get into my usual salon and I'm desperate for a manicure. They have enough technicians that one can ALWAYS get in. I've had manicures with many of the technicians and the quality of service is very dependent on who you happen to get. I wasn't fond of my technician today, not her personality or the quality of the manicure. It felt like she was not terribly experienced and the quality of her work reflected that. She did things in a strange order also, particularly the hand massage done after my nails were done running a slight risk of ruining the manicure with the hand massage... weird. Editing my review because a little over a week later I have to add that within a day my nails looked bad (tips not completely covered), and soon after, the polish just started chipping everywhere (see photo). I also remembered that in the past they put nice warm fragrant towels on your neck and gave you a little back massage... no longer. At least the place seems to be clean and hygienic. read more

I've been to this location several times, but it's been a number of years since my last visit. It used to be a nice place to go so when I found myself needing a no chip manicure and I was in the area I stopped by. The first clue that something was amiss was that I was the only person in the place. I went to pick a color and noticed the bottles were old looking, and many of them had some weird Mickey Mouse tape wrapped around them, but I figured maybe a child had done that. She then proceeded to take my old no chip polish off with a drummle. I've never had anyone do that before and kind of thought that might not be the best thing for my nails, but I stayed quiet. As she began her work my arms were resting on the foam pad that's in front of each station and it was so sticky and filthy that my arm stuck to it twice. She laid a paper towel down to cover it up. The acrylic shield separating us was absolutely filthy. I made a comment about how dirty it looked and she blamed the customer before me because she had used powders for her manicure. This dirt was definitely not powder. It was weeks of built up gunk and it was on the surrounding shields as well. Her nail painting skills were below average at best. I had to actually ask her to remove the excess polish from around my nail beds when she was done. Not only was there polish on my skin, but the nails themselves were not all fully covered. She also kept pulling my sleeves down as she was doing the manicure, and I wanted them pushed up. She did this three times and I finally said that I want my sleeves pushed up and she finally left them. Small inconsequential detail but it had no bearing on the manicure and I don't know why she kept doing this. Overall it was just too dirty of a place to return and the quality of the work was very sub par. read more

Ok so I have been to this salon many times and had a few bad experiences but it's geographically convenient so I've gone back. This past time has really pissed me off, I went and got a full set ($65 with French) it took almost 2 hours because at the end she couldn't even paint the tips correctly so another nail artist had to come start over. I was cut numerous times and even then most of the nail was over my cuticles. I had them done and that next day they were already catching my hair because they were all lifting from the bottoms. I would have gone back in but myself and my daughter were sick so I was stuck at home. Keep in mind I wasn't cleaning or doing anything that would destroy my nails just watching Netflix in bed with my munchkin. By day 3 my thumb nail popped off. They haven't even grown out at all but yet they have all lifted enough that they are ripping my hair out of my head. They look disgusting because the nails are chipping and yellowed The polish job barely held up but I don't care about that only the fact they charge so much to not even make it 3 freaking days. The reason I never made this my regular salon was always little weird things like when having a pedi and mani together they had me rinse my hands in my pedi water. Came here on a whim because my usual spot was fully booked and I needed a mani (acrylics) and pedi asap before I went to Hawaii. First impression was it's really clean, they have a movie on loop when you're bored, great french music and a short back massage with the acrylics service. I really enjoyed the pedicure and they did a fantastic job, but the polish has already chipped less than a week later. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and blame it on activities on my vacation. Next up, the acrylics. I rarely get them, but sometimes I just need an "oomf" to feel fabulous. I have never seen anyone dip nails in the powder then shape them. Also, no cuticle removal. I know, I know, it's horrible for you, but it just makes the nails look more polished ya know? Technique aside, nails were shaped, but still look kind of lumpy. Also, a few days into my vacation, I started seeing tiny brown speckles in the polish (see pic, sorry don't have a before photo). I have had plenty of light colors, am pretty active, but have NEVER seen this. Polish, clear coat, salty ocean? Who knows! But I can't blame my vacation for everything... Final nail in the coffin was the price. $95 total (incl tip). I have never spent more than $70 with tip for this exact service. It could be justified if they blew me away, but having a clean salon with a relaxing atmosphere and mediocre service doesn't match the price point. read more

Went for a dipping with Young and left there so unhappy. Young kept insisting there were no dips in my nails but she created those new dips in each nail . I spent a lot of money on that dipping. I've been doing dipping for over five years and I've never once had such a lousy job done to my nails. I am beside myself! Great place!!! From now on this is my one stop for nail job. My pedi turned out just great. Feet massage was amazing. My nochip manicure lasted for two weeks. My husband had a regular manicure and he expected a little more detail cleaning from Linda, but overall his experience was great as well. Just like other users commented, Judy offered me a warm rice-bag-thing to put on my shoulders and tea. I got a manicure/pedicure for $39 and really enjoyed it. I really enjoy this salon, it's bright inside, and feels festive year round. The owner here is always happy, which just enhances the entire experience. She's always been helpful in color selection (which somehow becomes the most difficult decision of my life the moment I'm in front of the wall of colors) They're also really great at taking walk-in's without making you feel guilty about not planning ahead. (Like, who does that?) Their nail techs do a great job, and they have complimentary services that many other nail salons charge additional for (parafin wax, massage). In addition to their great staff, robust mani's and pedi's, excessive color options and free green tea, they play different movies every couple of weeks- so you always have a distraction to help you fall away from all of the stresses of reality. A+ I don't go to nail salons regularly, but over the years have been to several in the area, from Northbrook to Arlington Heights, Wheeling to Vernon Hills. Honestly, I have never had a better experience. Unpretentious, and no snickering conversation in foreign language. I walked in a little after 4pm today, Sunday, and was cheerfully told "no problem" when I asked if I was too late to get a mani-pedi. As a walk-in I was in a pedi chair within a couple minutes. The technician (sorry I don't remember name) was quick but took no shortcuts, doing a thorough job with cuticles and gave nice leg and foot massage. Then I moved to the manicure station and was treated with the expertise of the owner, Young, who made me feel like a queen. This was the most relaxing experience I've had and just what I needed to de-stress before the new work week. This will be my new go-to salon and I'll definitely recommend to everyone:) read more

If you are looking for a place to do extensions, DONT COME HERE!!! I did my nails two times at this place. First time - refill with acrylic, after a week and a half nails fell down. Then I thought well that happens, may be my fault. I went there the second time for full set. First of all, no other places charge $60 for full set no chip! Ok, I paid. The NEXT DAY! NEXT DAY four nails fell down!!!! And my job is not related with tipping or doing something with my hands! I called, and they did my poor four nails. THE NEXT DAY other four fell down!!!! Moreover, the master said that my nail is too small and cannot hold the extensions! While I the other salon L. Lovely Nails in Arlington heights masters did a fantastic job and my nails held for a month!!! I put so much time and money in that!!! I'm very disappointed and sad! First let me say, that this place does the BEST no chip manicure I have ever had! I have gone to other places near by, but my no chip would only last 2 days. Needless to say I have continued going to Tips 2 Toes. The staff is polite and welcoming, the place is clean, they have large television screens that show great movies, they have awesome green tea that they serve customers and last but not least you get a neck and shoulder massage free of charge. The ladies do a great job of getting you in a chair right away. They can get really busy at times, but my advice to others is to always make an appointment first. read more

Yesterday was my first experience at Tips 2 Toes and I can confidently say it WILL NOT be my last! I only got a pedicure so I cannot speak to the quality of their manicures but I was very satisfied with the job done on my toes. I did not have an appointment and the place was busy on a Thursday afternoon (and before New Year's, too) but I was seated right away. The technician offered me tea, which was lovely, and I pulled out my book to read. The service I received was indeed quite standard (standard, meaning nothing out of the ordinary yet definitely well done) but it was the atmosphere of the salon that really added to my enjoyment. At many salons of this caliber, the ladies are yelling at each other in their native language and I have often felt a sense of chaos or disorganization in some of the shops I've been to. Here, however, the technicians do speak to each other, but quietly and in a non-disruptive way. The decor was lovely, the music soothing and I felt that my $30 was well spent. I was even able to add tip on my credit card! (many places I've been request tip in cash) I'll certainly be back the next time I'm in the area. My toes are very satisfied! read more

Jini's manicure always lasts 5 days+ and she'll create a color for you if you don't see what you're looking for. She gave me a beautiful white/pink-ish color my first time that I just loved and received a lot of compliments on. This review is regarding a no-chip manicure and a pedicure. I walked in around 3pm on a Monday with no appointment. There were two other customers there at the time. I was greeted and asked to sign in and find a color. While picking a color I had some questions which the technician helped me with, even testing one of the polishes on her own nail to let me see it. She was very friendly and helpful. They were playing a movie on the TV screens which was fun to watch. My no-chip manicure was the best I have ever gotten, it lasted a full 8 days without chipping which is better than what I have had in the past. My pedicure was relaxing, and has lasted now going on 3 weeks. It was a "spa" pedicure however they don't charge anything extra like most places do. I just stopped in here last night because I was developing eagle feet, talons and all, and it's right down the street from my house. There were only a few people inside, which was great because I hate having to wait but I also hate when I'm the only person there! There are 2 doors to get in - the 'front' door which leads to a sidewalk and Milwaukee Rd, and the 'back' door, which leads to the parking lot. Apparently they're expecting most people to walk there from the neighborhood instead of drive, but I walked there and even I ended up using the back door. There wasn't much direction when I walked in - I asked for a pedicure and they asked me to pay now, which I thought was a little bit odd, like I don't think I looked like the type that was going to bolt as soon as they finished. I wanted a design too, which was $5 extra so my grand total was $35 - pretty typical in my opinion. Then the receptionist walked away and I assumed on my own that that was my time to pick my color. I guess this is the type of place where they assume you're used to the drill and they don't have to tell you "you pick color!" So I skedaddled over to the pedicure chairs - which give a delightful massage and plopped my feet in the nice hot water. Since they didn't ask for my color I just put it on the little table behind the chairs and figured they would ask for it when they were ready. The girls there are pretty sweet; they asked me a couple times if the water was the right temperature, offered me something to drink, and brought me a few magazines to read. There's also a huge-screen TV that was playing some Nicholas Cage movie. It was a little too quiet to hear, but there were subtitles too. Now as far as the pedicure... I like my pedis fast but thorough. This was on the fast side, but not quite thorough enough. If I walk out and there is still visibly dead skin on my feet we have a problem... you have tools to take care of that business, so use them! That's what I'm paying for. Fortunately I have my own foot scrubber, but if I wanted to do that I wouldn't have come here! Another snafu was when she started painting my nails I wasn't even paying attention, so I looked down after a few minutes and she was using the wrong color! Apparently there was a different bottle already on her table and she thought it was the one I had picked out. Fortunately she had only done 2 toes, so it wasn't too big of a deal. Also when I was all done and waiting to dry I basically just hung out sitting in the pedicure chair. I don't know if they don't have a drying station or what, but I wasn't shown to it. I didn't care though, I was super comfortable anyway. So finally my knight-in-shining armour came to pick me up so I didn't have to trudge all the way home, and I went to hand the girl what I thought was a decent tip. I turned around to grab my coat and as I turned back around I caught this chick basically counting it right in front of my face! That just rubbed me the wrong way, I mean what was she going to do if she didn't like what she got?! She certainly wasn't getting more! So that brings us to today, where I have decided that despite the low points mentioned above, I did get a generally good pedicure, and will most likely be back, but mainly out of the sheer convenience of the place. read more

My manicure chipped the same day, and proceeded to chip badly for the next 3 days until I just took off the polish and repainted them myself. First time customer...went in today spare of the moment (called first) as my gel nails were not holding up from a prior salon done less than a week ago. The receptionist/manager was very friendly...looked at my nails and gave suggested options. My nail tech Jiny took great care of soaking off my gels and did an awesome job on my no - chip manicure love the hand cream used with the plastic little gloves you wear under the uv light while the no - chip is setting and LOVE the hand massage after the manicure...will definitely return and try a pedicure! :) read more

I love this place. They do a wonderful job on pedicures. It is very clean and pretty inside and the owner and staff are very friendly. However I've been a bit disappointed this summer. I went there twice and walked out right away. It was so hot in there. The first time they had the doors open and no air conditioning on. Today I went again and saw the doors closed as I approached so thought that was a good sign. As soon as I opened the door it was so hot and stuffy in there. I left both times and went to another nail salon. I think they might have just lost my business. I know running ac is expensive but clients want a nice relaxing pampering experience.
