Rye Cavatelli
Priscilla M.

I've been wanting to try this Italian spot on Back Cove! We went on a weekday and walked in for a table without a wait. Our server was friendly, attentive, and duly noted my allergies. I tried the Rye Cavatelli, which was wonderfully hot and acidic. My friend had the classic New Yorker pizza and enjoyed it. I love the atmosphere inside -- a lot more spacious than other restaurants downtown and the vibes were immaculate. Although situated on a busy road, the noise was well controlled.

Prosciutto pizza

Ash was the best bartender. The food was great. I started off with a beet and citrus salad, and got a prosciutto pizza that I was able to watch be made right in-front of me! Will definitely be back on my next trip to Portland :)

Spaghetti and meatballs chefs kiss, how can something so simple just hit...it did, a must try!!! Marinated mushrooms to die for. Broccolini Al Forno has an addictive char. Service (Kristen) outstanding. Atmosphere casual and delightful. Phenomenal all around!

Everything, except the vinegar drink. We got the hot honey and the stracciatela pizzas and they were very good. The ranch was fantastic, the Caesar salad was also very good! Service was excellent, I would definitely come back here!

We booked reservations through Resy online and it went smoothly, I've been here before, but decided to take my friends out for a nice dinner. Service was a little slow at first and it took us a while to put our order in but once we did, everything came out smoothly and quick. The drinks were good and the pizza were delicious. I recommend this place if anyone wants Italian! They have outside and inside tables.

What a great spot. With indoor and outdoor seating you can't go wrong. A neighborhood hotspot. Enjoy a fine cocktail. My favorite is Thyme after Thyme. Fabulous! The menu is fantastic and appeals to all. The staff is so much fun. Love them.

Wonderful food! Great service! Nice ambiance! We finally ate here and we weren't disappointed. We started off with a bottle of Copertino Riserva 2013 paired with the Mozzarella Arancini and the Tipo Pepperoni pizza. So good! For dinner we ordered the Rye Cavatelli and a Risotto dish (not sure about the name, sorry!). Food was good. The Rye Cavatelli had a lemon taste to it, which is interesting! We tried the raw milk strawberry ice cream, so good! Thankful to try a local neighborhood restaurant!

The food at Tipo is outstanding. We had 4 appetizers, and 3 pastas and a pizza for dinner, plus 2 desserts. Every single dish was perfectly prepared. The app that stood out was the carrots al forno. Perfectly charred, dressed in so many flavors, something delicious to dip them in, and sprinkled with pistachios...they were amazing. The chicken liver crostini is a favorite of mine...I get it every time I go...it is amazing every time. The blood orange is so fragrant and cuts the richness of the chicken liver pate beautifully...as do the pickled ramps...perfect pairing of flavors. The gnocchi stood out among the pasta dishes...soft pillows dressed in a sweet and savory squash sauce with quince for a bit of sweet tartness...it was so good. Caccio e Pepe was perfect, as were the spaghetti and meatballs. We've had the pepperoni pizza many times...every time the spiceyness is a little surprising, but so good...and the way the pepperoni is slightly charred...amazing. This was my first time trying dessert at Tipo, and now I regret not having ordered it before. It was incredible! I may stop in just to have dessert at the bar....it was that good! We tried one of ice cream sundaes, and the apple crisp. The sundae was perfection....from the little dish it was served in, to the chopped bits of various accoutrements (Marconi almonds, and sweet little crunch candied pistachios), to the best cherry I've ever had, to the smooth creamy ice cream. The apple crisp was served in its own tiny wrought iron pot, hot, with cinnamon ice cream...also perfectly designed for exactly the right ratio of ice cream to crisp to apple. Service was perfect, ambiance is beautiful. It was already one of my favorite spots...this meal closes the deal...it's my fave.

I have been wanting to try this place forever and finally got a reservation. Make sure to get a reservation because the tables fill up fast. There is a bar that is first come first serve so you can probably get in there but that was full all night as well. They also have a great outdoor space in the summer. The service was also very friendly. We got a few different things and everything was amazing. It's not traditional Italian but Italian with a twist. I got the bolognese and it wasn't a red sauce which was interesting but it was so good. We also got the appetizer of buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto and that was fantastic. My friend got the risotto and also really great but not traditional. I would love to try their pizzas. Overall there was so many things on the menu I would want to try. Not traditional Italian but that's why I really enjoyed it!

Room for Improvement has been around for quite awhile at this point and I have heard nothing but positive about it. My wife and I finally made the time to come here and glad we did. With it being Halloween they have a special theme this week called Doom for Improvement so we thought it was the perfect time to visit! We showed up at opening for a spot to beat Halloween crowd on wharf street. I was reminded of Jager right away in the sense it felt familiar while also feeling new. They decked it out with Halloween decorations and bartenders were dressed up. We had Bojack Horseman serving us who was a top notch bartender, friendly, answered any questions and had good vibes! My wife tried their Pineapple Daiquiri and their Espresso Martini. I went with the Halloween themed drinks and got the Rest In Peeses that was a peanut butter (Reese's) themed Old Fashioned. Secondly I grabbed their Plenty Evil that was inspired by the Good & Plenty candy Absinthe Frappe. My wife's drinks were phenomenal and would both be go to orders for her and we both found a new favorite Espresso Martini. My first drink nailed the perfect mix of peanut butter flavor with a classic Old Fashioned. Secondly despite not being a huge licorice/good & plenty candy this drink was delicious! I look forward to returning for a non Halloween themed visit but we were both extremely impressed. If you are looking for a bar to grab drinks and want a nice and chill vibe this is your spot. Expect friendly bartenders who make high quality drinks!

The lemon sole (fish) and octopus carpaccio (not pictured) were filled with flavor! The pork belly was very underwhelming and I would not order again. The waiter said 2-4 plates per person. I recommend starting on the lower end and adding additional dishes based on how you're feeling. The amount of food was very different from dish to dish. For example the tuna dip had way too much bread and the pork belly was very small in size. Overall I was half impressed. I wish the staff would take a moment to announce the plate as it's placed next to you or point it out on the menu for those hard of hearing and wanting to know what they are about to enjoy. However the music, overall restaurant vibe and half the dishes exploding with flavor made my experience pleasant and I will return again knowing a bit more of what to expect and looking at photos of the menu/meal options beforehand.

Via Vecchia was definitely worth the wait, and this was one of the most surprising restaurants during our trip. We ordered the brussel sprouts, grilled octopus, campanelle, and radiatori. The brussel sprouts was the one dish that I was most hesitant about, seeing that it was paired with a blueberry agrodolce. Not a typical combination, but this ended up being a favorite. The sweetness & tartness of the sauce worked SO well with the sprouts - it's an excellent dish. The octopus had the perfect char, and all of the flavor pairings were really cohesive. I had never heard of either of the pastas, but I loved the textures of both. The campanelle with nduja cream was delicious, but did get to be a little heavy about halfway through. Radiatori with bolognese was a classic but well executed dish. Service is attentive without being overbearing. Prices are super reasonable.

Fast-forward to now: I was walking around with a friend and we felt like having a drink, and Cuties was right nearby. I finally had a chance to look at all the decor and details, and my eyes were FEASTING on the colorful touches and funky vibes. Our server was very nice, and even though we only ordered one drink and definitely stayed there for a good amount of time, he wasn't pushy in any way. My cocktail, the Wink n Nod, was soooo good. It had vodka, gin, manzanilla, olives, and pickled Fresno brine. The result was a yummy concoction with a punch, one that I could savor and not slurp in ten seconds. That said, I gotta say I was surprised by how busy the place was given how early we went. It wasn't even 4pm. I don't think I would come back in the summer or during peak hours because I could definitely see them getting busy, just like during their opening weekend, and having an entirely different experience. Note: Although I didn't try any, I was happily impressed by the food options and non-alcoholic options. A true all-day bar!
