It was a very "used car salesman" vibe from the beginning and my boyfriend and I should've known better. Red flags from the get go, like telling me we needed to sign in the next 3 days or he had to "build a whole house" and would take much longer. Despite telling T I wanted a fully custom bathroom, my original estimate was around 2500. After being roped in it was closer to eight. But this was the least of my issues. Completely inconsistent timing, "T" and "M" telling me so many lies they couldn't even keep up with each other. Showing up randomly, not showing up on days they said they would, and sometimes a complete lack of communication. In the end it looked okay... for a day or so. However now I have shifting tiles and messy groutwork in my mosaic bathroom. They also made a complete mess all over my house and left trash like open candy bars and McDonald's bags everywhere. Didn't clean up after themselves. I called complaining because not only did they NOT fill the holes in my drywall, but they didn't paint my radiator! Both of which I paid for!!!! The floor tile grout looks like crap now only a few weeks later. There were spacers left in it and it is stained? Probably because they busted a pipe in my sink and water exploded everywhere and they rushed to get it done when the floor was still wet. They never came back for detailing and let someone paint who left spots around the light fixture they installed. Didn't paint before they installed it... Why exactly? They sent someone to fix the pipes that were leaking after bathroom vanity was installed but I was told that Monday they would come and touch up the grout. Heard nothing from either of them, and then they blocked me on Facebook four days later. EDIT: The owner has contacted me and is coming to fix the messy work very soon.

When it finally came time to do it, we started going through the process of trying to find the right contractor for the project. We spent several weeks researching until we came across Yorklyn Construction. Once we met Ben, we felt like the search was over. The advice, detailed thought he put into our plans brought a sense of comfort to us. The quotes were fair and where we hoped they would be. Starting with Ben, our experience fanned out to the rest of folks working for Yorklyn. Tom, who managed our project, was absolutely in touch with our thoughts as the project transitioned from demo to the "rebuild". He did a better job of "detail nitpicking" than I could have. From the beginning they stated it clearly, "we want it done right for you." They certainly lived up to that and exceeded it. The carpentry work with the cabinets they constructed all the way down to the floor thresholds / transitions were perfect, and I mean perfect. I'm sure a lot of contractors hold similar standards, but where Yorklyn pulls ahead is with how they treat your property, residence and your family. You become a bit more than a customer. To Whom This May Concern:…read more Typically, we are not people that post reviews. Oh, if we really don't like something we have been known to speak up directly to the company. We have to have very strong feelings to post in a public forum. After all, saying something about a person's lively hood should not be taken lightly. Often people are quick to criticize and slow to praise. We would like to change that. We have a house that was in need of updates and repairs. We also where in desperate need of storage. We invited several companies to come by and tell us what they thought and to give us a bid. Two companies that came by and told us the project was too big for them and no bid the project. Finally, it came down to two companies from the area, Yorklyn Construction being one. Yorklyn shot straight with us. They told us the truth, not what they thought we wanted to hear. The bids came in pretty close but Yorklyn impressed us with their candor and professionalism which gave us confidence that once they agreed to something they would meet their commitments. We were told that the process would be long (several months) and that we would basically be living in a construction site. Like I stated, they shot straight with us and it was a big project. Side note, they did everything they could to minimize any discomfort and were respectful that this was our home. We did have hiccup's but Yorklyn's staff and the sub-contractors where great. In a project this size there are hundreds of small decisions, but I can honestly say that everyone involved looked out for our best interests. If they thought we were making a wrong choice, they spoke up. For example, we chose the color of grout for the shower in a showroom. The tile guy put in the tile but thought we made a mistake with the color of the grout. He didn't just go and let us make a mistake. Instead he spoke up and brought it to our attention. He and the project manager discussed it with us and made suggestions that we elected to follow and are happier for that decision. We had a similar experience with their painter. Trust me things look different in a sample catalog or a showroom than in your house. I also wanted to say that their carpenters are great and their cabinet guy is amazing, very skilled and exact, a true craftsman. Our cabinets are just wonderful. We can also tell you that on the rare occasion that we did express displeasure, they made it right and when a problem was our fault, they were fair. Several of the Yorklyn staff and sub-contractors feel like friends. We have very warm feelings for these people. We have grown to trust them. Not only would we recommend them, we will call upon them in the future when we need skilled professional trades people. Often in business "quality "is defined as meeting or exceeding a customer's expectations, in our book, Yorklyn's work and the people that make up this company are the definition of quality. We hired AK Marble & Granite in October of 2021 to remodel our kitchen. They were to do tile…read moreflooring, base cabinets, an island, pantry and granite countertops. After a year we had to take them to court because the installer never put thinset under our tile floor and the floor is lifting. Grout continues to pop out to this day. We told AK about this and they came back to try and fix it but their way of fixing it was to just add more grout which didn't resolve a thing. We never received the rollouts for our pantry or island as promised, yet the price for these items was to be included in our contract. They kept telling us we would get a discount at the end. Continue reading and you will see that my discount was an increase of $5,578.98. I asked how much of a discount for the missing rollouts and they said they would take $400 off. I will admit at first I agreed because honestly I was sick of dealing with them but then I realized that their discount was way less then it would cost me to get all the roll outs so I said we would wait until they came in. We most definitely never got a fair discount for anything or any of our rollouts. They never ordered the correct amount of tile for our floor although we were charged for 600 sq ft of tile flooring. AK told his installer not to lay it under our appliances because we wanted to save money yet the 600 sq ft which is in our contract was wall to wall. Which is what we paid and still to this day didn't receive. We did agree that they didn't have to go under the cabinets but we asked from day one and multiple times after that to go under all of our appliances. When we agreed to not have them go under the cabinets we were told there would be a discount as it would be less flooring but that clearly wasn't the case. The installer wasn't going to go under our washer and dryer in our mud room at first because AK told him not to and I had a fit! Who doesn't tile under their washer and dryer? I mean come on! When we went to visit their facility to select the granite we wanted we were interested in two different slabs. AK told us they were both the same price per sq ft. We selected one and the very next day asked if we could switch to the other and were told it would cost more. We should've ran at that point but we just gave them $20,000. Our total contract with them was for $31,800. I didn't understand this as the square footage wasn't changing. This was the one I wanted so I asked how much more and was told maybe $500. I said fine and gave them the ok to do it. The very next day AK's wife text me and said AK said there would be no additional price for the change of the granite. Although once we filed to sue them they filed a counter claim saying we still owed them over $5,578.98 for the granite. Funny thing is we already paid them what we agreed for the granite. We paid them $20,000 to start. Then about a week later they asked us to pay another $5000 for the flooring even though it wasn't completed but we paid it. Then they came and put in the cabinets and counter and wanted another $5000 which we paid. Our balance at that point should have only been $1800 but remember my discounts. They asked if they could come get the final payment of $1800 and they would drop off the last box of tile for my husband to finish the floors because they couldn't come back and do it and I told them no!! I said I would see them in court as this was ridiculous and had gone too far. They never mentioned an increase in our granite to me at this point either. They were increasing the counters costs by $5,578.98 yet they never mentioned it! We never signed anything that we were going to pay more for the counters. Remember I have the text from AK's wife saying there would be NO increase in the countertops. They never mentioned this price increase to us at all until we sued them. This company is crocked! Be very careful! We were awarded in court and their counter claim was not. However, now they won't pay. We need to hire someone else to come fix the job they did. Some of the granite is cut uneven which he told us was because our house is old. AK made the template. They claimed that they finished the job and we still owed them $5,578.98 yet we never received a final bill! They claimed in court that they emailed it. I checked my email and nothing. This was my discount people! Beware!! We never had time to even look at anything that they completed and they had their hand out wanting money. Now they asked if we would give them six months to pay what we were awarded in court. I don't want to wait 6 months. AK called us dumb faces and said he believes in god and he will see us in court and do what the judge says but he's not! We are having to go after him to force him to pay. We were asked when they thought we were happy to give an honest google review. Now they have their lawyer asking us to remove our review. Which I will not! I want others to be warned about this company!
