The crew came here during a blisteringly cold night. We had our choice of seating, as there were not many patrons . We were greeted promptly and served well throughout the night. We had: classic margs, steak , Al pastor, papa , chorizo and birria tacos and queso and salsa with chips. Everything was fabulous. The meat was so tender with very little grease. So authentic and solidly packed with meat. We will definitely return to try the other tacos!

We love it here! We have come here for years. The service is always quick and friendly. The food is always hot and fresh! I've never had anything bad in the menu. Make sure you order the chips with queso!

I didn't think you could mess up tacos this bad / I can't believe I'm writing such a low review for a tacos place but based on the food it is justified. I ordered 3 tacos, side of rice and beans. Two of the tacos had burnt proteins which ruined the taste (yes, I know the difference between charred and burnt). Imagine eating tacos + bits of charcoal as a surprise. The refried beans also tasted...not as tasty, fresh and good as other taco joints in the A2/Ypsi area :( this was one of the only places not busy on a Saturday night in this area and I can now, unfortunately see why :( oof

Tio's Mexican Food is an absolute gem. Their mouthwatering wet burritos with the salsa and hot sauces are to die for. The ambiance is inviting and authentic, I'm there every week.

My fiancé and I went here last night and it quickly became our new favorite "comfort" Mexican restaurant. The margs are delicious and not overly sweet, the portions are huge, and the flavors were serendipitously tasteful. I noticed there were plenty of vegetarian options too (including the wet burrito pictured below). The service was quick and excellent. Unrelated to food, but the murals are also really cool and contribute to the overall cozy atmosphere of this place.

I came here on a Tuesday night for dinner. The weather was pretty nice so we sat outside. My initial observations: my chair had food remnants on it and some of the overhead lights were broken. I ordered the steak fajita, and honestly it was not good. It only came with 5.5 strips of steak that tasted like they were slathered in A1 sauce. The steak also came completely well done even though it came out on a hot metal plate. The flour tortillas were cold, the guac was bland, and the iceberg lettuce was not appealing. The rice tasted okay, but it was really watery. For $18, the steak fajitas were way too overpriced. I honestly think Chipotle is better.

Where do I start? Well let's start with the atmosphere. The owners are big into social justice and "inclusiveness." So if you are look a certain way or hint that you might have beliefs differently than them, be prepared to be treated poorly or outright disrespected. I was wearing my neck gaiter mask that said "U.S Pride Veteran Hospital Corpsman US Navy." Was told at the that my mask was offensive. I would have to wear something else or they would not seat me. I said ok and walked out. Picture of the "offensive" face mask attached. And this is where my review must end. I will not support a business that is all about being inclusive, but is disrespectful like that. There is no cause for treating people like that, I would like to believe that the owners don't condone or approve of such behaviors. But these days you never know.

Cucumber margarita; the perfect blend of sweet and sour. They make it from scratch, so it doesn't have the cheap margarita taste.

I really loved this restaurant! We had a great location by the window so we could watch the passersby. There appeared to be only 2 people working, so it took a bit to place our order, but the food and drinks came out promptly. The prices were good, and all of us loved our food. I also ordered a cucumber margarita, which was delicious! Even though it's a very open space (especially towards the ceiling), it has a nice cozy feel to it. . . at least on a late Thursday afternoon. Be prepared; chips and salsa aren't complimentary like one might expect, but are worth the expense. Overall: Recommend!

Since reopening, Tio's has a new operating model. Instead of traditional table service, you order at a window in the back of the restaurant, and it's brought to your table once ready. It was pretty efficient, and our food was still delivered in "courses" (chips and salsa first, tacos second, dessert at the end) like you would get with normal table service. Our party tried the classic, pineapple, and strawberry margaritas - all of them were amazing! They were made fresh rather than with a mix, and you can taste the quality difference. We started with a bottomless chips and salsa for the table - they have mild and hot salsa options, and they let us try both. (Both were great!) We also tried a variety of tacos (there are a lot available to choose from) - I had the papa taco and a steak taco. Both had good flavors, and the steak was cooked really nicely. We wrapped up our meal with churros for the table. They were a perfect soft texture and served with caramel on the side, and the serving size was great for sharing.

I have been to Tio's on several occasions in the past year. My most recent visit today was underwhelming. I understand that today was Hash Bash in Ann Arbor, which explained the heavy traffic in the restaurant; however, the service left me extremely disappointed. Our waitress was inattentive - disappearing for long periods of time and neglecting to bring us the items we had asked for. When we needed refills on our salsa and water, it took us all several tries to even catch her attention. At one point, my friend waved at her but she kept walking past us as if she didn't notice. The food was a positive experience as always. We sampled several tacos off the menu. The most delicious ones were the Fish, Americano with Chicken, and the Pollo Verde tacos. Would highly recommend these three. I'm not sure if I'd come back in the near future after the negative service experience I had today. Perhaps the server was new to the job, but in that case, training needs to step up so that customers are not neglected.

Take a seat anywhere you like; we chose to sit at the bar. This is a well-equipped bar for such a casual setting: Dos Equis, Modelo, Bell's, and Sierra Rose hard cider. Waaaaay better than Chi-Chis (and any real Mexican restaurant I can think of, too). And, my wife ordered a margarita, and she loved it. Best of all, the price was very reasonable: $17 after tip for the margarita and a large Dos Equis. Food orders are placed at a separate counter, and they are ready quickly. A single fish taco is a good size, and only costs $4.75. The daily special is $10.29, and includes two tacos, rice, and beans, with a small up charge for the fish tacos. I feel like I've traveled back in time to the last century with these prices. The fish tacos are outstanding. The fish is freshly prepared, and not fried. You will want to get more than one to make it a meal, and the rice and beans in the combo are a nice complement. The rice could have used more seasoning, but this is easily corrected by mixing in some salsa. This is truly a wonderful find.

I'm big on ordering enough for multiple meals so I went with the nachos and a kid's steak quesadilla and got 3 meals out of the deal! The kid's portion came with two mini quesadillas and a side of rice and they were definitely generous with the steak portions! They had hearty chunks of steak, perfectly cooked and seasoned, surrounded by a nice melty cheese. Really tasty! For my nachos I went with the carnitas though I think they may have accidentally given me the al pastor as I bit into more than a few chunks of pineapple, which honestly was not my favorite when blended with the other elements of the nachos. I'd definitely get them again but I think I'd pick a different protein just in case. Probably the steak since it was so good in the quesadillas. I went through less than half of the nachos since they were a huge portion and tucked away the rest in the fridge for the next day. Sure, nachos don't always reheat great but I tossed mine under the broiler to crisp everything back up and then added some fresh chips on the side and it was perfect. I still had a few leftovers even after that and took the rest of it and added an egg on top for a makeshift chilaquiles dish! Pretty good! My one regret was not trying the churros but I'll definitely be doing that the next time!

A small taco shop in a nondescript strip mall, Miny's is turning out some seriously impressive and authentic tacos on par with places I love in Southern California. My friends and I swung by around dinnertime and while it was not crowded, there was a steady flow of customers and take-out orders. There is no dining area, but there are tables outside where one can sit and eat. I ordered 3 tacos: al pastor, cabeza, and Cameron, with spicy salsas on the side. The total was about ~$13. The first thing that stood out to me was the size. These were some hefty tacos, lovingly double-wrapped in pliable, warm, corn tortillas and neatly packaged for takeout. Salsa can be hit or miss but the salsas here were SO GOOD. Made in-house, they add the perfect moisture and flavor to each bite. Their green salsa has a mild, tingling kick, and tastes very rich and refreshing. The orange creamy salsa, however, stole the show. It is spicier than the green, and has a super addicting smokiness that enhances, but doesn't overpower, every bite. I was bright red and sweating but could not put this salsa down. The al pastor taco was my favorite. Sweet, soft, smoky pork with the crunch and freshness of onions and cilantro, drenched in the above salsas, simply divine! I wish it had come with pineapple for a pop of sweetness, but it was still a super good taco. I was thrilled to see that Miny's offered cabeza and lengua, as they are cuts of meat less familiar to the average American diner. I opted for cabeza and was greeted with a pile of soft, collagen-rich meat, bursting with juice and oil. The meat by itself is definitely a bit bland so the salsas did the heavy lifting in terms of flavor. The gooey-soft texture though, that was all due to the perfectly cooked meat. This was a pricier taco than the Al pastor, and there was definitely a bit less meat than in the Al pastor, but still a very good taco. The shrimp taco impressed me the least. The shrimp were unseasoned and looked to be boiled. While bouncy and tender cooked in this way, I prefer the char and juiciness of grilled shrimp in my tacos. In addition, I tend to expect my seafood tacos to have a slaw on them, versus the standard onions and cilantro. With the salsas, this taco was fine, but I would not order it another time. A very healthy but uninspired taco. Overall, for where it's located and what it is, Miny's does some amazing tacos, though I will probably skip the seafood ones next time. I will be DREAMING of that orange salsa, and now understand why on their menu, they sell it by the carton.
