    Carnitas plate

This is a pretty happy looking Mexican restaurant that on a Monday night had a good bar business going. We wanted to sit at the bar but it was too crowded! I ordered a small Negra Modelo and it was at least 20 oz and only $8.50! What size is the large??? I had the Carnitas plate and my partner had the Camarones Diablo. We both loved our food. The pork was super tender and I had enough left over to make a couple of lunches this week. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the sauce although not very spicy, was delicious! We are musicians passing through the area and we've literally eaten around the world and I would definitely come back here. The service was on point as well. Friendly and prompt. Bueno!!!

Good looking, but bland Enchiladas Supremas

Oooooh man .... What a bummer. I had high hopes for some decent enchiladas. The food was exceptionally well presented as you'll see in the picture. However just no flavor. I had a take out order. Easy ordering, quick and painless. I sure wish this visit was better. But no flavor is no flavor.

I was kind of hungry after a day of hitting the museum and driving, and needed something to eat before I checked in to my bed and breakfast retreat. I wasn't really feeling like dealing with downtown Ann Arbor parking again after the museum so I headed back towards I-94 to see what I could find. I ended up cruising into Briarwood and found this place after I circled around. I didn't have the energy or desire to go inside of Briarwood, so I pulled in here instead. It looked tired from the outside. I have no clue what it was before, but it's a Mexican restaurant now. It looks tired, and needs a facelift from the outside. Inside its in good shape, no complaints there. They weren't busy at all, and the hostess eventually got me seated. Of course, I got the salsa and chips to start while I reviewed the menu. The waitress (who was wonderful) told me about the lunch specials. YAY! I was hungry, but not dinner sized portion hungry. I ended up getting the Huervos Rancheros since I usually love that dish. *sigh* The Hueveros Rancheros was not good. They drowned it in sauce that wasn't even spicy, for starters. The rice and beans were wonderful, but they put so much sauce on it, it ran into everything. Personally, I prefer them to make it like a skillet where everything's piled on top of each other. Not here. Dish seemed sad and very underwhelming. Was it bad Mexican food? No. I probably got the wrong dish and should've gotten tacos instead, but nnooo, I had to risk it and go out on a limb here. I would probably return, but do the tacos next time. They do serve Birra tacos which I am deeply in love with. Maybe some other time, but most likely won't return.

Oh wow! (Taibangle!) I went with my twins and they were so gracious to us. We felt welcome and there was a big portion size even for the kiddo meals. Everything tasted so delicious (hao che!!) The kids menus were cute and the crayons are those cool split colors. Even the ice cream was parent and kid approved. I'm so satisfied. The combos are a great price as well. They checked on us just frequently enough and put us in the round booth who which is actually so perfect for toddlers somehow. Just great. I left feeling good. Edit to add we asked for extra napkins and they gave a whole spring box, was so funny and appreciative!

Los Amigos hit the spot for Mexican fare while we were in Ann Arbor. The service was speedy & the ambiance brought me back to Mexico. The medium margarita was huge! I washed down my cheese enchilada & tamale and wished I had more room for the fried ice cream! The carnitas were cooked just right! Located right off I94 & in the same lot as the Briarwood Mall.

Tried this place as the location was convenient. I noted the have one of my fav Tex-mex plates on the menu so I ordered it (pollo con chorizo). Usually this plate is full of flavor but not so much here. The rice and the refried beans could use more salt and seasonings. The chicken had good flavors probably because of the chorizo. The chips didn't taste that good, more like old warm chips. Salsa was ok.

#Anthony bartender awesome drink and awesome service food excellent!! Seafood specials amazing and Taco Loco our favorite !!

    Arroz con pollo!!!

It's suppose to be arroz con pollo but it looks like They just threw some sh!t together. Gave me chips with no salsa and a cup of pico. HORRIBLE!

This is a mixed grill fajita. Delicious!

I've been here a few times now, because of visiting the area for work conferences. The restaurant atmosphere in the evening is loud but welcoming, while a little quieter during the day. The service is great and very attentive. But, the food is what keeps me coming back, as it's delicious. I've enjoyed everything I've ever had here. This time around I had the mixed grill fajita which was huge! It comes with chicken, pork, steak, and shrimp, and was so worth the price. The next time I'm in Ann Arbor, I'll be back.

This is my third visit in since they opened. I ordered the *fresh* guac small. It's not fresh. Creamy baby food avocado is not fresh. The salsa is a bit salty but good. The chicken tortilla soup - again salty, with chicken and the barest bit of roasted corn, topped with WAY too many tortilla strips. Especially when half of the strips were stale or hard as a rock. Do the cooks smoke? That would account for the saltiness. Also ordered a chile relleno à la carte. The breading was too thick but the chile was good. The cheese was a bit odd but fine. I didn't care for the green sauce on the side. I pulled off the tortilla strips, chile breading and did my best with what I had ordered. Just another visit to remind me why I don't come here. ‍

I'm big on ordering enough for multiple meals so I went with the nachos and a kid's steak quesadilla and got 3 meals out of the deal! The kid's portion came with two mini quesadillas and a side of rice and they were definitely generous with the steak portions! They had hearty chunks of steak, perfectly cooked and seasoned, surrounded by a nice melty cheese. Really tasty! For my nachos I went with the carnitas though I think they may have accidentally given me the al pastor as I bit into more than a few chunks of pineapple, which honestly was not my favorite when blended with the other elements of the nachos. I'd definitely get them again but I think I'd pick a different protein just in case. Probably the steak since it was so good in the quesadillas. I went through less than half of the nachos since they were a huge portion and tucked away the rest in the fridge for the next day. Sure, nachos don't always reheat great but I tossed mine under the broiler to crisp everything back up and then added some fresh chips on the side and it was perfect. I still had a few leftovers even after that and took the rest of it and added an egg on top for a makeshift chilaquiles dish! Pretty good! My one regret was not trying the churros but I'll definitely be doing that the next time!

A small taco shop in a nondescript strip mall, Miny's is turning out some seriously impressive and authentic tacos on par with places I love in Southern California. My friends and I swung by around dinnertime and while it was not crowded, there was a steady flow of customers and take-out orders. There is no dining area, but there are tables outside where one can sit and eat. I ordered 3 tacos: al pastor, cabeza, and Cameron, with spicy salsas on the side. The total was about ~$13. The first thing that stood out to me was the size. These were some hefty tacos, lovingly double-wrapped in pliable, warm, corn tortillas and neatly packaged for takeout. Salsa can be hit or miss but the salsas here were SO GOOD. Made in-house, they add the perfect moisture and flavor to each bite. Their green salsa has a mild, tingling kick, and tastes very rich and refreshing. The orange creamy salsa, however, stole the show. It is spicier than the green, and has a super addicting smokiness that enhances, but doesn't overpower, every bite. I was bright red and sweating but could not put this salsa down. The al pastor taco was my favorite. Sweet, soft, smoky pork with the crunch and freshness of onions and cilantro, drenched in the above salsas, simply divine! I wish it had come with pineapple for a pop of sweetness, but it was still a super good taco. I was thrilled to see that Miny's offered cabeza and lengua, as they are cuts of meat less familiar to the average American diner. I opted for cabeza and was greeted with a pile of soft, collagen-rich meat, bursting with juice and oil. The meat by itself is definitely a bit bland so the salsas did the heavy lifting in terms of flavor. The gooey-soft texture though, that was all due to the perfectly cooked meat. This was a pricier taco than the Al pastor, and there was definitely a bit less meat than in the Al pastor, but still a very good taco. The shrimp taco impressed me the least. The shrimp were unseasoned and looked to be boiled. While bouncy and tender cooked in this way, I prefer the char and juiciness of grilled shrimp in my tacos. In addition, I tend to expect my seafood tacos to have a slaw on them, versus the standard onions and cilantro. With the salsas, this taco was fine, but I would not order it another time. A very healthy but uninspired taco. Overall, for where it's located and what it is, Miny's does some amazing tacos, though I will probably skip the seafood ones next time. I will be DREAMING of that orange salsa, and now understand why on their menu, they sell it by the carton.
