I'm not so big on sweets, that's why I don't get to appreciate eclairs if they are stuffed with sweet creams and fillings. When I discovered Tiny Duchess in Hole in the Wall, I was delighted to find out that they have savory eclairs aside from the sweet offerings that they have on display. Tiny Duchess has wide selection of sweet and savory eclairs with really offbeat and adventurous combinations and pairings.
For instance, they have on their sweet selection flavors such as double chocolate, chocolate and green tea, green apple, creme brulee, meringue and blue berry cheesecake. I have tried the chocolate and green tea one, which was actually pretty good because it wasn't too sweet - and it had just the right amount of matcha, which can taste quite vegetative or grass-y when overdone.
While I'm a bit lukewarm with their sweet eclair menu, I have nothing but praises for the savory ones. I loooove the Fusion of Four Cheese one. The goat cheese one is also quite delightful, but my ultimate favorite would have to be the Fresh and Smoked Salmon with Wasabi, which is a very interesting combination of flavors and textures. The wasabi wasn't too overpowering ,and the smoked salmon in spicy mayo was the right kind of spicy, to complement the wasabi. I was so impressed with the execution of this flavor pairing that I had to order several of the big ones just to enjoy it.
I keep coming back for more of this whenever I am in the area. Though it could be a little cheaper at least, I am very happy with Tiny Duchess. It is one of my favorite stalls in Hole in the Wall. read more
