I lurk a lot on Yelp (since 2009), and I don't review often unless I need to. But, this is the case (as well as a horrible restaurant review today. But I digress). =The reason I came here= I had thought about going to Mr. Tint (Santa Clara) to do a tint job there. However, they carried the Solargard HP Charcoal, which isn't color stable (fades in a few years) according to many forums. Their next one up was the Ultra Performance Ceramic-based one, but that was another $200 I didn't want to spend. This place offered Solargard HP Supreme, which is color stable. Also carries the lifetime warranty. So, if something were to go wrong and your shop closes down, Solargard will pay for your tint job at another place. I came here to do a 35% front, 8% back on a Civic Hatchback (which has a tough, curved rear windshield). =The Man= So, I was referenced to Juan here at Tint's R Us, known for his 20 years in the tinting industry, working with auto dealers across the city. He's even worked on many exotic cars, as well as the Ferrari FF (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_FF). He also selected to be a Solargard Representative at a Las Vegas auto convention. He knows his stuff really well, having used the horrible 3M tint that fades/bubbles, to using higher end ceramic tints. He's busy enough that he wears a bluetooth earpiece to answer customer calls while he's working on cars. He even picked up my phone call to work on my hatchback an hour after. =The Location= I went here expecting to show up at a shop. Instead, i was welcomed to a home-business, where he had a long driveway to a garage in the back, with a long tent cover over the whole driveway. In the garage, he has an consultation-like office, so you can wait the 2 hours while he and another person works on your tint. It's pretty comfortable =The Service= He knew what he was doing like the back of his hand, and so I watched him and the other guy get to work. They cleaned the car enough to minimize the contaminants on the windshield (although my car had a lot of dust, so it was inevitable that some would pop underneath). He had a tough time working on the tint on the back part of the hatchback, so he ripped the tint he was working on and tried again. He cringes with creases. While working on cutting up the tints, he talked about how he got himself working in the business, and the horror stories of damaging a customer's car from the gate on the driveway (which he paid the full $800 to fix, thankfully). He had to take a break to eat. Very very graciously, he came back with a plate of ribs, baked potato, and rice! This is one very chill dude!! We ended up talking about fish after a while, haha. They finished up the car in under 2 hours (very fast, compared to Mr. Tint who i had to leave my car overnight for). And, removed every little spec of bubbles that we could find. No creases on the back, curved window either! They were really good with the heatgun. Overall, for the price I paid, this was definitely worth it. Of course, I'll review again if I notice any wear. read more

I don't know what it is but every car I'm in, I NEED A TINT! Without a tint, I feel naked and exposed to the whole world. I guess I just like my privacy. Having purchased a new car, I wanted to find a shop that will provide quality tints for the best price unlike the last shop that tinted my previous car, the tint bubbled up and started to peel only after a few years. I did what I always do, I turned to Yelp! I began reading reviews on local shops and Tint's R Us stood out by far. It had the most number of ratings with the highest ratings so I decided to give it a shot. First thing I noticed was that it was a bit difficult to get a hold of him over the phone. I called several times over a span of four days or so and I was finally able to get myself an appointment. When I arrived, I moved my car in and I was given a variety of shades to choose from. I was very hesitant about what shade to choose. I was jumping back and forth between 35% and 28% but Juan was very patient and told me that he had just tinted a car with 35% and it was in front. I checked it out and decided to go with 28%. I sat in the "waiting area" which was the home's garage. It included a fish tank and a couch. Heck it was good enough for me. The job took about two hours and I was very pleased. Juan explained to me about the chemicals I should avoid when cleaning and he told me if I spot any air bubbles or if I wasn't satisfied, bring it back and he will redo it free of charge. Now that's what I call great customer service! He's an extremely honest and friendly guy. I'm glad I went with Tint R Us and will never have to go to another tinting shop again read more

I also love the fact that it's a mobile service and they can come to me with minimal inconvenience. Juan and his crew have tinted the windows on nine of my personal cars over the last few years and I've given him numerous referrals. When people ask me where I got my windows tinted, I have no hesitation to recommend these guys and I spout of the phone number by memory! My only reason for deducting one star is because despite the fact that I've given Juan so much business, he's always a stickler with me on his prices. He's not very willing to negotiate and give me a deal and seems to be more expensive every time I call him. My mom is currently driving one of my old cars that he tinted in the past and a window was smashed by a vandal. I gave her his number and when she called and explained who she was and gave my name, he gave her some crazy-high estimate to re-tint it. When I called him about it, he took off $100! I can tell you Juan and his team have done a great job on my 2002 Honda CR-V and deserves 5 stars because it has been 6 YEARS since he did my tint and there's no sign of anything but perfection since the day he put it on. It has sat in the driveway for the most part through all the seasons, especially summer, and it has not bubbled, lifted, or anything. I believe he uses the computer cut technology specific to your make, model, and year which ensures a perfect fit. I came here on a weekday and they had the job done within 45 minutes. I hung out on a bench in their shaded driveway area and before I knew it, it was done. I did 2 rear passenger windows, the rear hatch window, and the two side windows in the trunk area for $250. They're incredibly friendly and very accommodating to your needs and schedule. We had a phone consultation and quote on what I wanted, what options were available, etc. He also showed me in person the different options that we had discussed on the phone and ensured I was making an informed decision. We plan on taking our Infiniti M45 to Juan within the next week or so to get some tints on as well. Thanks, guys! Edited to add: We took our M45 in and perfection hits again. Fabulous! One thing I hate about work (other than actually working) is that my work hours coincide with many other businesses hours of operation. These businesses often close when I'm off for the day. I can't be bothered to waste my precious weekend moments scheduling tint dates, coordinating rides to pick me up to and from the tint shop and that's where Tint's R Us comes in. Where TRU shines is that they will come to you!! I called, scheduled an appointment and Juan and his crew showed up on time as expected. He gave me a run-down of whats legal and what isnt, and spoke about different configurations and set-ups. After I chose my tint % (25% back window, 35% for the rest) I went back inside my office to "work" About an hour or 2 later, TRU was done tinting my g35 coupe. It looked awesome! Now the tint has dried and settled well and I love it. My friend recently went and got a $500 ceramic tint on his car and in my humblest of all opinions, does not have the same clarity and quality as the tint TRu did for me. Why did I give Tint's R Us 5 stars? - I have had previous experience tinting my vehicles at other local shops (I would avoid Mr. Tint at all costs!!). This was by far the easiest and smoothest transaction. Additionally, the quality of workmanship that they did by and far surpasses other popular Bay Area tint shops. the kicker is that it was also the cheapest price quote I received for my car! Juan and his brother are very friendly and accommodating. They do top quality work and get the job done fast! Juan does tint work at his home (converted into a business in the back) or mobile. At his home location he's got a comfortable waiting area with couches, TV, aquarium, bathroom, etc. You can literally sit in the waiting room and watch them work on your car. Juan is very personable and will chat you up about a variety of things. He most recently tinted my new 2014 Scion FRS. He tinted all the windows including the driver's and passenger front windows. They see me rollin'. They hatin'. Except they really can't see me because of my tints! Juan and his team have done four cars for me, and after 2-3 years, the tints still look amazing. There's no fading with the quality tints, and there's no peeling, bubbling, or rattles from the installation. Family owned and operated, his wife gives quotes and schedules appointments over the phone, and installation is done either at their house in San Jose or at your business/home. Their mobile service is professional with ladders, glass cleaners, industrial dryers, and even a generator - it's not some guy with just a roll of tint and a hair dryer. Juan personally returns calls and answers questions about tint darkness, front/back options (for legality), and installation. Prices are fair - not suspiciously cheap like a random guy nor ridiculously overpriced like car stereo shops, and there are discounts for repeat customers. Most importantly, Juan provides a warranty on the tint job - he'll fix it and make it right if you're not satisfied. The felt strip Juan had installed by the window sill had started to come detached. After a few weeks of simply putting it back in place, I called Juan to see if he could reattach it. He told me to bring it in at my convenience, and that he would take care of it. I came in on a Tuesday evening at around 6:00p, and after I told him what I had come for, he briefly left what he had been working on to quickly seal the moleskin back in place. Meanwhile, at no time did he make me feel bad about bringing the car in for a quick fix or come off as anything less than polite. When my day came around to get my car done, Juan called me and said that he wouldn't be able to get to my car in time and therefore would give me a good discount if i wanted to reschedule. I know absolutely nothing about price range or anything really to do with tinting, but a co-worker recommended Tints R Us to me and I'm glad she did. I passed by the house twice looking for a sign but it just looks like a normal house; you have to go into the driveway and there you'll find everything set up. Ok, these guys are the real deal. Juan and his assistant had me in and out in 45 minutes!!!!!!!!!! This after squeezing me into their day. He gave me his full warranty, told me to call him in about 2 weeks if the streaks were still there (needed time to cure) and here I am about 2 weeks out and it looks great. I needed to have two of my vehicles done so I went great lengths to research and canvas places to find the best deal and the best quality of work. After calling several places and speaking with some people (dealership referred me) it came down to Tints R Us. Juan did an excellent job on both my Toyota Prius and my girlfriends Acura TSX. Each car took about an hour and he has a crew of 3 or 4 working on the car, best of all your right in front of them watching them work on your vehicle!
