Nope this place is no good! I called on a weekend to see if I could get in for a tint and they wouldn't give me a yes or no they just said "come in and we'll see". OK?? So I did. There prices were RIDICULOUS! So High I couldn't believe it and the guy working had such a bad attitude. I went to another company and paid less on a premium tint than the price tint devil gave me for their standard tint. I took my car into tint devil to have the windows tinted on my 6 series BMW,John did a great job,I have had no issues what so ever,so I had him come tint the windows at my home to prevent sun damage to my hardwood floors and also do a dark tint on the windows of my pool house,which cut down on the heat issues DRAMATICALLY.I am so glad I found tint devil,I think some of the negative reviews must be from work done by the prior owners,I can't imagine John not trying to make things right if there was a problem.I would recommend tint devil to anyone. read more

Have had multiple cars' windows tinted with John at Tint Devil over the last several years. Wouldn't think of going anywhere else. He runs a professional business, very upfront about costs and materials. I had one issue a few yeas back where the back window started to distort/bubble after about a year (probably due to the car rarely being parked in a shaded/garaged area) but John was awesome about re-doing the back window at no charge. Just returned from getting my family sedan tinted. This is my 4th car I've received tinting from here and all the jobs were completed professionally. The car looks great, tint devil has tinted my previous sports coupes, an suv, and family sedans all of which look fantastic. Tint Devil has many selections of tint quality to choose from depending on your budget, when I was younger I chose the more affordable tint now that I am older I got the top of the line. If you can't afford any more than $99, save up for the Tint Devil. Have the installer explain any imperfection when you pick up the car. Tinting can fix itself weeks after the initial install. If I could give a negative number of stars, I would. I went to Tint Devil on their reputation and their long history in San Diego. Boy, what a mistake that was. In early 2003 I brought in my brand new Acura RSX for a tint job and I got their "lifetime warranty" tint job and they promised me it will not discolor nor bubble. Boy, was I taken in! Here I am six year later, and I am seeing my tint job turning purple and the tint on the doors is bubbling. So I call Tint Devil to ask them about their warranty and the guy who answers the phone tells me that since the bubbling has occurred on the door windows they do not warranty it. His explanation is that putting tint there is illegal. Okay, first question.. If it's illegal, why do you install tint there? Next question, is this just some shifty way of avoiding honoring a warranty? Glass is glass. You should back up your work, regardless of where it is physically located on the car. He tells me it's in the fine print on the contract. Don't make people decipher fine print. Be up front about it, this is bullcrap. Don't take your vehicle to Tint Devil, they're a bunch of scam artists. I will be taking my car to be re-tinted elsewhere. Also, one word to the wise.. ask your tint installer what brand/type of tint they're putting on your car since this makes a difference. read more

I have to agree with some reviews. If I could help some people with some advice? STAY AWAY FROM THE LIFETIME WARRANTY. DO NOT BUY!!! I also got conned into buying it in 2006. Still have my receipt. Tint was peeling and discolored, and not by using windex either but from After a few years with the sun and humidity. So went back and asked to have it fixed and they said they no longer work with that product, and couldnt help me out with my contract. BUT it was so nice of them to offer me a discount on a whole new product, should i repurchase it. Uhh.. sorry, i only look slow. So if you do decide to buy lifetime, beware that they might not work with that product again the following week or month or a few years from now. And your pretty much S.O.L read more

I had a very bad experience with this place, had a brand new audi A5, first I called them to get a quote, he quoted me for $150-250, so I set an appointment, when i got there he recommended to use a high quality tint coz it will interfere some electronics if he put just regular film, so I agreed, i paid $450 best tint, so after i picked up my car after couple days driver side tint was peeling off and rear window bubbles all over, so I took it back, and had to set another appointment, he fix everything and he told me he's having hard time to do the rear window and he had to do it twice, after i checked the job still had some bubbles, and he said it will disappear, after a week there still some bubbles so I took it back again and he said its normal and he can not do anything because of the dust, I was very disappointed, good thing i trade in my car to an S5, now i learned my lesson never ever take y car to this place... read more

I stopped in at Tint Devil 2 weeks ago for a quote. The fellow quoted me two different Solar Gard options for my 2015 Honda Accord. The Ultra Performance was quoted at $700. Seemed extremely high to me so I called around. Got the Solar Gard UP installed for $340 at Progressive. Tint Devil more than 2x the price - gouging. You better check for competitive quotes if you stop in here or expect to be gouged. Don't appreciate being quoted a ridiculous price. read more

I've been going to Tint Devil since the early 2000's as a local San Diegan. I've taken my car once to another place and realized you must get your tint done the first time, correctly. The owner is super detailed to edging of the windows and left my car clean with windows/doors. Highly recommend as one of top tint places in SD and location is great! I spent a good amount of money getting all my Windows tinted. They say if it bubbles or discolors then they replace it free. I went there 2009 and got it done. I came back in 2012 because my Windows began bubbling. They had the nerve to ask me if I had a receipt. No i don't. Its been years. And they said well how do we know we did it. I said well I Damn sure remember you guys and I went to your back to select the film that they would use for my Windows. He said too bad. So this place is not a real business because if it was. They would have there stuff stored in a computer. I went to certified car audio. I told them about my issue and they said they should have it documented in their computer or some system. They didn't. Instead they stood starring like retards and didn't give a shit. So they don't care about customer satisfaction. They want your money and rip you off. Certified car audio can hook You up with there tints and have a deal that if you get your front ones tinted and you get pulled over. They will remove it for You free or they do something else. They are a lot better than tint devil. They are probably named that so they can take your money for some lame tint job. I also payed close to 400 bucks for 5 window. RIP OFF. I got my windows tinted by them several years ago. After a few years the tinting on the drivers side door started to peel. No problem b/c I paid extra to get a Life Time Warranty on the tint .......or so I thought. I came in with my warranty and original paper work and he said that he won't fix it. I told him that I paid extra for the warranty. He said that the small little initials at the top of the paper that say BD means behind driver coverage only. This was not written out in the contract. This was not explained. He says that it can't be written out b/c it's illegal to tent the front windows. However, he had no problem charging me extra for a warranty that is CRAP. This is the second time the driver side window has peeled after being put on by Tent Devil. I recommend someone else. read more

I have the same problem as the other 1 stars, they don't back their work. Also when I got the tinting done they said it was perfectly legal. I only got the side door windows tinted and they specifically told me that their no bubbling guarantee would cover these windows. It looked great at first but a bit over a year later the driver side window bubbled very badly and they gave me that same excuse that they don't honor warranty on door windows and wanted full price just to have their unreliable handy work removed. Also funny thing, when I called them recently I first asked them if they still offer a warranty on the side car windows and he said yes, but after I said I got my windows tinted their already and it bubbled he suddenly changed his story. Yes, not everyone has had bad luck with them but do you really want to take the chance with your money. Don't trust these guys, go elsewhere. read more

I have to disagree with Gary. Sorry bro, but I haven't had that problem. My husband and I have a 2003 Honda and decided to fix it up a little. New paint, tin, stereo, etc. Well, we decided to go to Tine Devil because a bunch of my husbands buddies got their tint done there. One guy that we knew had it done about 6 years ago and it still looks pretty good. A few scratches (but that isn't Tint Devil's fault). They guy took our car and was done in a few short hours and if we wanted to we could have rolled down the windows within a few hours. But what really amazed me was that a few weeks after we got the tint done, luck found us in an accident and blew out the window. So we went back and the guy put the same tint we had on before in less than 30 minutes, and only charged $60 bucks. I know that seems like a lot but if you shop around like we did, it isn't much for window tinting. Plus, he didn't try to sell us the top of the line, or try to get us to buy anything we didn't need. There were a few window tinting places I could have went with, but decided to go to Tint Devil based on a friend of a friend's recommendation. I called to make an appointment, John gave me a basic quote, and he was very friendly and professional. When I went in for my appointment, little did I know there were different grades and shades of tints, and of course, price differences. The basic tint only covered lifetime warranty on peeling and bubbling and contained metal, which apparently could interfere with GPS, mobile phones, etc. Who knew! The upgrade had additional lifetime warranty on fading, had SPF/UV protection, etc., so since I plan on driving my new car to the ground, I decided to go with the higher grade. Then there was the highest quality, the high roller, mack daddy of tints, but my Mini Cooper and I didn't need all that. John helped me to understand what I was paying for, and I didn't feel like he was being a shiesty salesman trying to rip me off. John did a phenomenal job and I am extremely satisfied with the results. You can tell he takes pride in his work and has been doing this for over 25 years. I would highly recommend Tint Devil.
