I can't say I'm the most frequent of moviegoers. Usually in the spring or summer is when I go here. The long summer nights and heat make coming here a much-needed and pleasant escape. I agree with others that their snack selection could be a little more varied. I love their popcorn and either get a big gulp of Coca-Cola or an Icee. And I also agree that the snacks can be a little expensive. But since I don't come here too often, I don't have a problem with it. Also, use the Cinemark app. You can earn points to get rewards, such as discounts on snacks. The theater is pretty clean for the most part. Occasionally you will sit in a row with a sticky seat or carpet, but I guess that is to be expected when people take snacks in and get excited watching a movie. Service here is fine. I've never had a negative experience with it. This movie theater is fortunately close to where I live, which I just love. It's also in a nice area. You can hit up the nearby Starbucks if you want to hang out with friends after the movie. read more

I don't usually go to the movie theater very often at all. Since my last visit there seems to be some new upgrades. There was new seating in room #9 and boxes of seating outside for other rooms as well I'm guessing. I really like the new option for alcoholic beverages. They even have blended fruity drinks as well! I had a horrible experience with the manager. Mr.Ryan is terrible with the customers and does not value there happiness. I will never waste my money on the theaters in Chico Ca after this experience. I love the movies and ive grown up going to this theater. Never have I ever had such a bad expirence. It resulted in a refound for our back to back movie tickets. A manager who identified himself as 'Mr. Ryan' (why can't we know their first names?) rudely ejected a young couple for having a backpack. He would not hold it for them during the movie and made them leave. I was embarrassed for the patrons who were treated so badly, wish there was another theater in Chico. Auditorium #3 smells like a horrible unchanged dirty diaper. It is so beyond gross that it makes you nauseous. Student discount at $6 a ticket Tuesdays. trader joes across from it, michaels and the dollar store!! very convenient. Also a wendy's & panda express near by. I've been going here for years but I haven't been able to go for a long time. I finally had a chance to go tonight with my best friend to see Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. I'd heard nothing but good things about it and was really looking forward to watching it. We checked the movie times right before we left and then drove all the way there only to find out from the 17 year old ticket kid that apparently "Corporate had like just called and cancelled the remaining movie times or something for a new movie that just came in. Weak sauce Tinseltown, I'm extremely disappointed. It costs an arm and a leg now days to see a movie, and they really aren't giving away gas either. Update your showtimes before you cancel them and get it together. read more

If you're bored in Chico there are only a few things one can do. One of those things is... GOING TO THE MOVIES :D yeyyyyyy Seriously though since Chico is sucha small town and it's either going to the bars, going to a party, or going to Inmotion to workout (since it's 24/7... whoot). Tinseltown is one of the few places that provides great entertainment. It's also super awesome because it is owned by Cinemark and Cinemark has a good standard in the sense that they are perfectionists about cleanliness which i do quite enjoy when I go in to a theater to plop down for the next few hours. It's nice to know that when you go into the theater, it won't look haggard and gross, it's always nice and tidy. To save money on snacks, i suggest running to Trader Joes and grabbing some stuff to pop into your oversized purse... not that the snacks at the theater aren't absolutely delicious. Seriously - if you want that jumbo popcorn with all that delicious butter, freakin do it because it's delicious... but just saying, if you want a lil candy bar or something, Trader Joes is what I would hit up. All in all though, Tinseltown is a great place to go if you're in Chico. It's fun, it's got an arcade, there is food and you get to go see an awesome movie. This would get 3 stars, but I take 1 away because the last FOUR TIMES I have gone to see a movie there, the image didn't work for the first several minutes. You'd be sitting there and hearing the previews but not be able to see it. People would go out to tell someone (myself included) and they would say "Yeah, we're working on it." Seems like a problem they really need to wipe out, since the odds are so high that it will happen. The reason it gets the other two stars? It's the only theatre in town so it does a good job of making sure to get all the blockbusters in, and I like the early bird matinee price of $5.25 any weekday for the first showing of the day. They also have absolutely no enforcement of rules on the R rated movies. If you have a debit card, which plenty of minors I know do, you can just purchase your tickets at an auto machine. I like to use it, but it's still weird. Also, no one ever says anything about the people who bring their 3 year olds in to see R rated movies. When I saw Thor, I had to listen to a row of children right behind me during the whole movie asking what was going on. Rude! read more

If you're in the mood for a movie then this is the place to go in Chico. It is always seems to be clean and always has friendly staff members. They have a decent sized game room if you have time to kill before or after a movie. The seats recline a little and are fairly comfortable too. It's not much different than most theaters. They all charge a lot for a movie and even more for popcorn and drinks. If you do get the snacks I recommend getting the $12 deal. You get a drink (52oz I think) and a bucket of popcorn. You can keep these and bring them back anytime through 2013 for a $3 refill. read more

Very disappointed both times I have gone. First you must endure 20 minutes of lousy corporate selected movies for the masses SCREAMING at you before you are able to finally settle in and watch what you came to watch. I long to move to an area that has some of the non corporate theaters that have comfortable seats, unique movies and a sense of taste in movie selection. I wish it were different. So went to watch Toy Story 4 today. It was discount Tuesday so we opted for the XD Theatre. My low stars is for the lack of monitoring for reserved seats. I took my son, nephew and mom. Get to our row and find people in our seats an older woman says this seat is saved for my husband. I said actually those are my purchased seats. The lady I'm assuming daughter or daughter in law said "you can sit anywhere nobody goes by the seats on the tickets ". I wasn't upset with the older lady but rather than make a spectacle took my group to sit in a different spot in hopes that the seats weren't already purchased by other moviegoers. I mentioned something to the usher when I walked out to use the restroom and he disregarded it. The fact that their were 2 people manning the snack bar during a busy time was also negative in my view. Both lines had 6+ people waiting for over 10 minutes. read more

It's an average theater. They don't give you much choice as some movies are 3D in one time, and 2D in the other. This can be tough on those with budgets. I'm used to having the 3D and 2D movie having different scheduling time and slots instead of mashed into one, making timing very important if you want 3D over 2D, or on a budget wanting 2D over 3D. Knowing well the cycle of movie theaters, I avoid buying food so I can't say anything about that. The overall facility is neat, though. It looks presentable and comfortable without being too pretentious with its interior design. The movie was great, first time being here and watched The Avengers: Age of Ultron. I can say this is a good experience, but nothing special about it and thus I give this yelp the average of 3 star. Tuesdays are also, according to their advertisement, a discount day. Run of the mill movie theater. Picture quality is better than Oroville's theater (not like that is saying much) and they get every movie I've wanted to see so far and some extras most theaters didn't (Tusk, the latest DBZ movie). You can expect the usual selection of candy, popcorn, and other overpriced stuff forcing you to use your rectum as storage so you can enjoy eating your favorite candy without being charged 4x what even 7-11 would balk at. read more

Good place to watch movies. It's clean and spacious. Food is expensive though. Four stars only because they blast the AC and it gets freezing cold in there while you're watching a movie. We had a group of 8 meeting this morning to see Thor. Family from all over the state. We checked times Thursday when we were all together and chose the 11:15 a.m. We checked again Friday and times were the same. But when we all got to the theatre, they had decided late last night to cancel the 11:15 Thor and replace it with Coco. On a holiday weekend when families are planning outings for large groups, you'd think they could be consistent with their times. What a huge disappointment. We won't be going back without checking every 15 minutes to see if they've changed their minds, I guess. Not very good customer service. read more

This place is pretty moist:) Could have more candy selections but other than that, this place is great. And very clean movie theater. Even though there seems to be a problem with the manager, I haven't experienced these "horrible" encounters. But if I do, then I will put him in his place because I don't let anyone talk to me the way they want. But I hope he's a good man on the inside. As the only "real" cinema left in Chico, you can't complain too bad about Tinseltown; after all, if has plenty of screens, including for 3-D. However, the overpriced concession stands and "arcade" are sorely lacking (even compared to the Movies-10 we used to have), and the seats could be far more comfortable. Personally, it's a good choice for watching the odd film here and there, but for watching movies in a proper cinema, I'd still hop in the car and go to Sacramento or the Bay Area instead. read more

Buy the large reuseable soda cup for I believe $6 the first time and then its $3 for every refill FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR!!! (not a fan of the refillable popcorn bucket though) ALSO, you can use this cup with all the coupons/discounts you have, they'll just charge you an upgrade. Not as bad as it sounds I promise. For example if you have a coupon for buy one large popcorn and get a small drink free, they'll charge you like only 25 cents for that giant reuseable drink. 3. CINEMODE!!!! For smartphone users, this app is amazing. I finally gave it a shot after seeing the commercials before a movie all the time and it is a life saver. I've only been to a handful of different movie theaters and it's kind of strange to write a review for a theater; however, I do think that this is my favorite theater. The others that I have been to get more expensive every time I go to them, even the matinees. This theater however always seems to have a decent mostly steady price.
