Came here last night to see Snow Tha Product. First time seeing a concert in Chico as I normally travel a bit and see her all over the place. Pros: Love the location. Easy parking. Hotel was walking distance. Downtown Chico has a lot going on. Staff were cool AF here. Real down to earth. It wasn't too hot at all. Temp was great and I was right in the front at the rail. Cons: Place really does need major major upgrading. I'd say it was one of the more run down venues I've been to, especially for Snow.. but it was sold out so no complaints. Biggest con was waiting in line hella long with no direction. We were told meet and greet would start at 5. It didn't start until 8pm and we had been in line since 4:15. Even if snow was running late, communication from staff would have been helpful. Also, sorting out general admission from VIP too. Sound was great. I know she travels with her own stuff, and like I said... I was in the front. Over all, I'd come see her here again. read more

Beyond terrible sound. This place will make you second guess why you are seeing your favorite artist there. People are nice and they tried hard, just no sound, no a/c, bad, bad, bad. If you do go just know you have been warned. read more

Two stars because the staff were nice... but worst venue I've ever been too. Ceilings look sketchy, it's so hottt inside, and smells absolutely awful & moldy. The walls are peeling & the place doesn't look totally dirty, just looks super old and rundown. They have fans sitting along the floor, so they are aware... the bar is cash only, which is super inconvenient... the security was a joke, they didn't scan everyone which was not assuring with how the world is today. I really think the attendance for the concert was low because people genuinely can't handle the venue... the smell is bad enough to make you sick. We left early & went to a bar down the street. read more

I really enjoy this venue. It's chill, personal, and the sound is usually on-point. The rules aren't too stringent and weird. There's a coat-check that's free for my purse! Minus one star just because the experience is never truly AWESOME. Just...alright. Above average. read more

all though it offers solid acoustics, and small-town like charm, it is SCREAMING for an update- inside and out. The venue needs to be more inviting, and have more modern amenities. A decent bar, and a concession stand should be first on their list. Speaking of which, beers and snacks are dirt cheap compared to most places. I'd gladly see a concert again here again. read more

This is the worst concert venue I've been to! This place needed a ton of work. We went in January and there was NO heat as well as all doors in the back were left open for smokers. We were freezing. On top of that if you come with anyone under 21 do not plan on sitting or standing with them while you have an alcoholic drink. You have to stay upstairs, drink it and then rejoin your party. If all that weren't enough to not want to go there again then the fact that the place was filthy dirty and falling apart would do it. The sticky (yes sticky, from spilled drinks?) floors and banisters were disgusting. The theatre itself would be great with some work put into it and some rule changes. I've gone to many different theaters in different cities and all of them but this one let you go anywhere with your drink and mingle with everyone. They've all been clean and heated or cooled as well. With full bars. Not here. This place needs some major love. I am so disappointed Dirty Heads is playing here this fall, I can't do it again. Please don't play here reggae/rock bands. There are much better venues for your fans! read more

Horrid acoustics, peeling paint amd my shoes are literally sticking to the floor but good Lawd it's cheap with $30 tickets and $4 SNB. It helps a deprived soul connect with some awesome talent. Just glad I wore my boots to this place. read more

Cool theater!! I was just visiting chico from LA so maybe my standards were a little high, but this place could use a little love. There were no lights inside the actual theater area (not lobby) and many aspects of the theater seemed a little neglected. However, the snack bar was very affordable and the employees were very nice. The location of this venue couldn't be better and the lobby was super cute. read more

Worst concert venue I have ever been to. We went to concert on a warm summer night and it was so unbearably hot inside we left halfway through the concert. It was so muggy and everyone was sweating profusely, we could not enjoy the show. Beer was only allowed upstairs and don't even try to request a water upstairs when you're about to faint in their sauna of a theater. read more

I have been to more than 30 shows at the Senator Theatre including last night's Tech N9ne performance and, overall, the prices are reasonable, the employees, including the security guards, are friendly and the acoustics are good. The place could use a little sprucing up inside and during a summer heat wave it can get pretty warm inside. In general I go to the Senator for hip hop shows but over the course of any given year you will see all sorts of shows by nationally-known artists. All in all, the Senator Theatre is a good spot for Chicoans to see some of their favorite music. read more

Actually this is not a theatre at all, but a really cool place to see a show. Snoop was in town. It was freezing in there, but the acoustics are ok and its an intimate enough of a setting to where you don't feel ripped off by the ticket price. We'll be back and with down coats if its a Wintertime show. read more

I just attended the Snoop Dogg concert and the place reminded me of a abandoned run down hotel. The Sound og music, as well was not really good too. All and all I felt they can clean the place up and bring it back to life. Had fun tho. read more

So drove 6 hours for a show here. Once I was within 30 minutes of venue I got an email stating the show was cancelled. The promoter waited soooooooo last second. I am now out for the cost of a room, tickets waiting to be reimbursed and no entertainment. If you can't have dependable entertainment, you don't deserve to be open for business. Choose better promoters and responsible facilitators. read more

Great location in the heart of Chico. Venue is not all that big but it does have two floors. A lot of great artists are always dropping by which is awesome. Saw Andre Nickatina there and boy was that a show to remember security was pretty rough but it made for a safe show and people still got drunk or w.e. Too bad that the place is in such disarray and I can't believe that it is allowed to continue to be a venue when there are giant holes in the ceiling and plaster seems like it can fall on your head at any moment. this is thee most disgusting venue I've ever been in. the paint is pealing off the ceiling which I am most certain it is leaded paint. the floors are so sticky that it nearly tripped me trying to dance. This is a great place to see a show, the only problem it is so big that acoustics are kind of messed up at times. The security is laxed once you are in and it is always a good time. I have seen Gwar, Hank 3, NOFX, The Funk, G and many other shows. read more

My first time in Chico Saw a show (several bands play) here. The staff was great. The venue, not so much. It was dirty and run down looking. The sound for the music was horrible. We couldn't hear anything. The crowd were some of the worst people I have ever been around. This place has potential but currently it is the worst venue I've ever been to. I will never go back her. This was the worst venue for a musical performance ever. We drove to Chico specifically to see "The Devil Makes Three," a favorite group. Although we love the group, we ended up walking out. Why would we do this? First, upon entry everyone was frisked. I have no idea for what purpose. It was sleaze from the outset. We went upstairs because we figured we would be able to see better and the sound might not be as loud. We were wrong on both counts. The view to the stage was constantly blocked by people standing in the aisles. Every 30 minutes or so a theatre employee would make the beer drinking crowds blocking the aisle move but it took less than a minute before it was filled again. Eventually, the employee just gave up. To make matters worse, the sound was so loud that the music was grossly distorted. The sound was unbelievably loud and distorted that it was a total disservice to the musicians that performed there. It was so loud that the hairs on my arm were vibrating from the acoustic waves. We were also using earplugs to help but they were insufficient. The venue was also filthy. Urine, toilet paper and paper were all over the floors of the bathrooms. The bar was just some industrial collapsible tables with plastic glasses of beer. We will never return to the Senator Theatre for any performance whatsoever. read more

WORST CONCERT EXPERIENCE EVER! The staff completely ruined The e show with their overly sensitcive "rules" of what you can and can not do at the venue. So if you enjoy being watched like a piece pray about to get slaughtered then feel free to see a show here. But if you enjoy vibing with the whole crowd and enjoying the music that we all come to see and not having to look over your shoulder the whole time in risk of getting kicked out. Two stars because I really wanted to love this place. It initially has a classic vintage theatre look and what appeared to be a family run facility (which makes me hopeful). Then I entered. The building is 25 degrees hotter than the outside 80 degree weather. NO circulating air. No swamp cooler. Zero attempt to cool the place down. They cattle call people into the weirdest lines with ropes. The staff was unnecessarily rude to all of the patrons confused by the chaotic standstill lines with ropes and wristbands and random openings that you aren't allowed to walk through. End game you CAN'T get a beer downstairs so you have to go upstairs to 112 degree temperatures and they have no place to stand while you drink said beer. You discover this midsip as a very rude staff member screams at you to move up even higher and sit in some "hellfire" bleachers seats in the roof. You sit there chugging the beer, pondering what the hell just happened so that you can return downstairs to the amazing Cody Jinks in a seemingly cooler 104 degree area read more

First time to this venue, we live about an hour away. One of our favorites were playing here so we decide to make the trip. Where to begin with this s$&t hole...First, if you want to sit in the downstairs seating area, you can't have alcohol with you, which means if one of you is the DD and the other is drinking, you have to go upstairs alone to the makeshift bar which is on fold tables to get your beer, slam it and head back down. The other person could go with you, but if you want to hold your seats, someone has to stay. Referencing another yelper who said "everyone working here are college brotards". This couldn't be more true. Bathrooms were disgusting, the seats were falling apart, the place is basically in shambles. OH! They also don't take credit cards. So, when you take the trek upstairs, get your wristband to drink, wait in line to get said drink, order and pull out your card, the brotards say " sorry cash only, you can get cash a couple of blocks from here at Bank of America" So, you walk across the homeless ridden park to b of a only to realize there is no atm machine! I could keep going but this would be the longest yelp review in history. We won't be back, if you are thinking of going here for a show, do yourself a favor and wait for the next date. read more

This was my first time at a show at the Senator in Chico. Showed up to see one of my favorite bands, Devil Makes Three. Was so excited for months for this show. Once we walked in the venue it was immediately clear this place was not set up for live music shows. Having the upstairs be the 21+ area is an awful idea. It was packed and disgusting. There is no bar and all they were selling was Bud and "Pale Ale" (which sold out immediately. )The kegs weren't refrigerated at all, just lined up along the back wall behind the folding tables they were using as a bar. The place was a mess. No decent bathrooms. Lines around the block to get in. Sound quality sucked. People sucked. Homeless everywhere including right outside the door lined up with pit bulls. My boots stuck to the carpet upstairs with every step. I rarely leave shows but this was disgusting and there was no way we could stay. Really disappointed and would never go back. Yuck! Close it down until someone has the cash to fix it up properly. No more live music. I felt bad for the artists to have to play in suck a crappy place. read more

I went to go see P.O.D that disclose age 11 and up. I would like to know who on earth decide or what protocol they go off. The line up of bands was horrific. Worst two bands opening show I have ever witnessed in my life. For Senator Theatre to say age 11 and over.... The first two bands were not bands disclosed on the tickets. But in big bold letters it reads age 11 and over. First two bands couldn't stop cursing and throwing the middle finger like it's cool. My son can't even see a pg13 movie because the movie theater will not allow it. Smoke, weed, really you name it we saw it. When people are coming from out of town and you put two absolutely useless bands singing. Again I say my 11 year old son cannot curse at school and cannot see movies with weed, cursing etc. So why on earth would Senator theatre allow an 11 year old a free pass to hell. Plus the place is a run down drug hole. Where I live, that's not a theatre. It's a called Whorehouse. read more
