Reserved a spot at Tinsel Tavern located in the Shark Bar for $5, now I know why it was so cheap. I was excited to try this pop up bar only to be disappointed. Staff were friendly and welcoming and it was decorated pretty , but that's where the compliments end. We were seated at a small high top table that was supposed to seat 4, but only two of us were comfortable. Stools were not sturdy. When asked for a food menu we were told food was not available. They had a charcuterie board we were told but the ingredients were not appealing at all. We were told we could not bring food in but they could save our seats while we eat somewhere and come back . That would make us miss the trivia time we were so excited to play. I'm sorry but this makes absolutely no sense. This is ballpark village. All these eateries in this facility and there is no contract in place to allow customers to bring in food from the restaurants. Are you kidding me. Looking at the drink menu , it's pricey and the one drink I decide to order is not available, the Fireside spiked cider. Our group had reservations on Monday evening and the place was not packed. The cocktails were really good. I enjoyed the two that I had and tried several others at our table. Good drinks and the appetizers were just okay. I was glad to see that they had more choices than just Chex mix and cookies that some of the other bars offer. The ambiance was cute but was lacking that lit feeling of all Christmas lights sparkling. Disappointment that at our 2hr mark they wanted to shuttle us out for the next set of reservations. We would have kept drinking but we would have had to move to the bar when clearly, they had plenty of room with empty tables. This place doesn't make any sense to me they have a security person outside checking all bags including backpacks. Once your backpack is checked and you go through the security scanner your then told that backpacks are not allowed purses coolers other things are but backpacks aren't. I attended a conference in St. Louis this summer and our opening night reception was at Ballpark Village. So, my experience isn't "typical" considering the Cardinals weren't playing but this was a fantastic venue! Ballpark Village is very spacious which made it perfect for the 1,000 or so conference attendees. There were open bars and food buffets everywhere, and it was really good food - sushi, salads, tacos, you name it. Service was prompt and friendly. Bonus - they had the Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum open and we got to explore that, too. I imagine it's exciting to watch a game on the big screen here! read more

St. Louis is a Major League Baseball City. So, it doesn't surprise me that the first ever stadium-anchored mixed use development is contiguous to Busch Stadium. Speaking of Busch Stadium, it occupies the site of the former Busch Stadium. Appropriately, Ballpark Village opened up on the first day of the 2014 Cardinals season. The Ballpark Village that I spent time at in the summer of 2018, is a mixed use development that is growing. Towering over the brick restaurant fronts that compliment Busch Stadium are an army of construction cranes. They are building a $220,000 million second phase that will include the first class-A office building in downtown in 20 years, a Loew's Live! Hotel, 29-story apartment building and more retail and entertainment venues. Walking towards Ballpark Village from the north, construction equipment seems to outnumber baseball bats. Clark Street is the heart of Ballpark Village. It's retail, restaurants, and entertainment venues border the north of the closed off street across from Busch Stadium that borders the south. Its businesses include a beer garden, Fox Sports Live! Midwest, Cardinals Nation, Cardinals Hall of Fame, the Skybox, and Drunken Fish. Much to my disappointment, the Howl at the Moon Dueling Piano Bar is out of business. What I found neat about the streetscape is that the business overlook the baseball field. When I watched the Cardinals game I'd see Cardinals Nation, the Skybox with the Ballpark Village exterior across the outfield fence. It is without doubt an extension of Busch Stadium physically and spirituality. The entertainment venues and restaurants are spiritually a celebration of the St. Louis Cardinals and professional sports. They provide a very crowded yet first-rate view of the action across the street in Busch Stadium. In similar style to Wrigley Field, there is roof top seating. One of the venues even has a retractable roof. Large HD TVs add to the excitement of seeing the St. Louis Cardinals and other sports events. It is important for me to bring up that Baseball Village is open 365 days of the year including when Major League Baseball is on hiatus. On my visits here, I took in the Ballpark Village walking around. The businesses were very crowded at the same time that I had done enough drinking at the Embassy Suites Manager Reception and dined at different restaurants throughout downtown before the four Cardinals games we saw. Now if Howl at the Moon was still rocking the hits on dueling pianos, I would have spent time there after the games. From staying at Embassy Suites, we had the advantage that we did not have to worry about parking. Leaving a car here is pricey when the Cardinals are in action. On game days, self parking at the Walnut Street surface parking lot go from $5 to $50. These rates start at 6 am for games beginning before 6 pm and 1 pm for games beginning after 6 pm. There are additional parking garages by Chestnut Street and Broadway. If you don't want the hassle of driving and parking in downtown, the Stadium Metro Station is across Eigth Streets. The way I see it, as the St. Louis Cardinals work at making home runs, those St. Louis cranes are working at making a better Ballpark Village. I can feel a lot of that positive energy that left Leeds Landing and the Union Station Mall headed to the Ballpark Village phase two completion. As it stands now the current Ballpark Village is a third base hit that can lead to a home run when the first ever stadium-anchored mixed-use development is complete. read more

Ordered a beer and found that they only serve Budweiser products but being the home brewery in town was not surprized. It appears to be a family place and kids are welcomed. I can not imagine what a pre or post game would be like if the Cardinal were in town. One thing I did notice was the metal detectors at the entrances and the security staff at every entrance. First it's the staffing. Sherry our waitress was incredible. A positive note on this salubrious day. She was friendly, amicable and a ball of energy. Now the buffet, well it was darn good. This is a difficult review for me as I'm from Kansas and it has a lot of similarities to Power and Light District in downtown KC. I know Ballpark Village was modeled after P&L and has a lot of similar bars. However I feel they spent too much of the space on the parking lot as a money grab and left little space for the actual restaurants and bars you're going there for. It feels really enclosed during a game with all the people there so much so it's hard to walk by anyone without spilling your drink. They made this big deal about opening the roof but it barely opened anything up I wish it was more open air. They have PBR, Howl at the Moon, and Tengo Sed Cantina like P&L does. We tried to go to PBR but they were having a private party on the balcony of the upstairs and weren't letting anyone through from one side to the other. Next time I'll just pass in favor of stadium drinks. read more

Im glad my daughter armed me with a YELP account. I frequently visit this area with my family. My credit card was lost and they are the blind leading the blind! I came here with my daughter and her husband. We enjoyed the stay, even with the lack of customer service from some employees. If I could describe services from a guests perspective, it's "fend for yourself" style. Shocking since you're paying $$$$ a high price for what you can find somewhere else without a doubt. Anyone who is a Cardinals fan remembers when Ballpark Village wasn't around. And my friends, that is why BPV, is a freaking welcomed addition! TWELVE different places live right across the street from the stadium, amongst a sea of parking. Places to eat, drink, sing, shop and cheer on the Redbirds. Upon entering the village-- FOX Sports Midwest Live!-- is what you see. In the middle of the massive (I believe nearly 200 seats) restaurant there is a 40 foot screen. Tons of sports fans. And a retractable glass roof so that fans can enjoy the warm weather INSIDE. There is a stage where they put on programs, concerts and more. Just a crazy experience-- totally worth checking it out. My biggest tip is to get an all inclusive ticket for the game at Cardinals Nation-- in BPV. Catch the game, get free entry into the Hall of Fame Museum, plus what's included is WAY better than in Busch. Mixed drinks, wine, Budweiser products, Shock Top, Goose Island IPA and Coca-Cola products. Typical buffet items. Plus-- you still get your promotional item, like you would if you bought a ticket at Busch. Either way. People that give Ballpark Village a bad rating... have to remember there literally used to be NOTHING by the stadium. So, anything is better than nothing-- right?! Sometime photos and videos tell a great story and convey the excitement and energy embedded in the place. We found the Ballpark Village across the Cardinals Bush stadium as one of such venues. On this day the mood and the vibe appeared more "green" for the day rather than "red". May be because it's St Patrick's day and the village came to life earlier then most days. It's like a traditional village square where life happens. It sure was happening under the glass covered roof with large screen telling the story of the Cardinals. There are amazing choices at this two level village- cardinal nation, a cowboy bar, fox sports bar, bud brew house, howl at the moon, drunken fish. Probably the longest length of bar counters under one roof in such a small foot print. Sky Box offered the most dramatic setting, views, bar and setting. Love the theme- Dine Drink Play! What else there is to do at the ballpark? Oh yes, except for the Cardinals and visiting teams, most of us get to watch from comfort of many of these wonderful bars. Rachel is the awesomest bartender that any tourist could hope for. She took really good care of us and shared her experiences about working so close to the Cardinal's ballpark. She's absolutely the right person for a venue that likely is a little crazy on game day (we visited in the off season). The bar has a HUGE screen TV, perfect for us hockey fans (it was February, after all!). The space is open and family friendly, with different restaurant areas to welcome friends, families and fans alike. So, I saw a lot of negative reviews on this place. One thing to remember to all, this is a sports bar! Period! You are not coming here for great food. You are coming here for a great environment that has all the staples of bar food. First off, the entire staff was awesome to our large group (+800 people)!!! Everyone was incredibly friendly and accommodating and extremely polite. I have never seen this level of very good service at any sports bar in the country. The best place to hang out is upstairs. It is the skybox of the Ballpark Village. You also do not feel so overwhelmed upstairs as you do downstairs with everyone. TV's everywhere and one of the very best large screen tv;s I have ever seen. It was massive and in HD. WOW!! Great place to watch your favorite game. The stadium is right next door and it was interesting to see the game from upstairs through the windows of BPV. So the food is what it is, bar food. Nothing fancy but always served with a smile and warmth by the staff. There is a mechanical bull which was fun to watch and a large stage for a band as well. The place really has everything you would want in a sports bar. Now, as far as prices are concerned, regular prices are not the cheapest, however, given the layout of BPV and everything it has to offer, well, something has to pay the bills and the booze does as it is flowing fast and furious on a game day. If you have never been, I would recommend going at least once to experience all, but take it from me, it is better upstairs on the rails then downstairs with the masses :) read more

Wow! This is exactly what St. Louis needed. I was completely blown away upon entering the much anticipated Ballpark Village. Basically being a party mall, Ballpark Village has got something for everyone. It can be upscale or casual depending on where inside you want to spend your time. Or just do it all and make a night of it. :) BPV is the perfect place to watch the big game with sound on the gigantic TV in the Fox Sports Midwest Live area which is also equipped with multiple bars, order at the counter food available, and a variety of seating options. And a retractable roof?!? That's just the icing on the cake. As far as bar/food options go, choose to party and ride the bull at the PBR Barn, dance and sing with the band at Howl at the Moon that's got dueling Pianos and a full band, dine in style with an awesome view at Cardinal Nation, or check out Budweiser Brewhouse which also has a stage, VIP area and plenty on tap. The mini field outside Cardinal Nation is genius with a replica turf field for the kids to run around and play while others sit back on the patio furniture while eating Ted Drewes from the Dugout Bar. There's even a huge TV screen out there too. Although they were not ready just yet, the Cardinals Hall of Fame and AT&T roof deck seats will also be amazing additions that help make Ballpark Village the coolest place in town. Ballpark village was built right and a great idea! Overall it's a great addition to the stadium. It's basically a really nice area of bars. And that's it. The whole space has a pretty corporate/food-courty vibe but it is nice. There is soooooo much floor space and plenty of table area. If it's super crouded it is probably hard to find a spot. I mainly went to see the space. If you wanted to watch the game this would be a great place to go. I didn't stay for long but I saw they even had beer pong upstairs (yeah, brah!) They are even doing movie nights here? Whaaa? Cray. They have a hugeeeee screen in the middle of the auditorium area. I do have to say the crowd tends to be a little older. Bring 'em Downtown! After years of waiting, Ballpark Village has finally opened to the public. There have been some mixed thoughts on this new complex that looks over Busch Stadium III. Overall, I think that this venue will be a huge addition to Downtown, but there are some definite kinks to work out. First of all, let's focus on some of the positives. Ballpark Village has created 500 new jobs in the St. Louis area. As I entered yesterday, I was greeted almost instantaneously by workers at the door. I went straight to the Budweiser Brew House, only to be greeted again by several employees at the doorway. Servers rushed by with drinks and meals, and business was booming. After months of silence near the stadium, just seeing the rush of people and workers was quite exhilarating. The options and views are endless. The concourse itself is a restaurant/bar, Fox Sports Midwest Live, and patrons don't need to look too far or hard to find a drink or meal. Several venues were already open, including the Brew House mentioned above, Cardinal Nation, Drunken Fish, and Tengo Hambre. Visitors can choose to sit near the enormous television screen or find seating in any corner of this venue. I will save my review of the Budweiser Brew House for that page, but one thing that most venues we visited shared was the expensive beer prices. AB products start at five dollars, for pint or bottle. Anything more premium goes up in price. Considering its proximity to the stadium and $8.75 draft beers, I suppose that it doesn't seem so bad. I will be curious to see what Happy Hour prices might look like. Many of the workers seemed underprepared and on edge. I don't blame them, but the size and accessibility did affect the service, specifically at the Brew House. Issues could definitely arise during busy weekend games if the management doesn't prepare the employees better. Honestly, I am excited about this new addition to the city. I would like to see more St. Louis influence and more draft beer from local craft breweries. Also, I would like to see some Happy Hour prices. Ok, let me first caveat that I don't fit into the demographic the folks at the Ballpark Village are aiming. I'm not 21-25, I don't love pulsating top 40 pop over loudspeakers, and I'm really not a fan of being shoulder to shoulder with people during game days waiting in massive lines to grab a drink. So I guess it isn't hard to see that, while this place will be very popular and a huge cash cow, it really misses the mark as far as I am concerned. I visited the Ballpark village on two occasions during a recent trip, once during a non-game day and once at the start of the Cards-Cubs series. On the positive side, the massive video screen on the main hall is really nice to watch.....but again that is countered by blaring music (even on a non-game day) placed at a sound level near what police authorities use to end hostage situations. The beer selection was decent enough, obviously this is an InBev spot, but that did mean Leffe is available if you happen to go the the right bar station. For my money I would skip the throngs of people inside Ballpark Village and go to one of the surrounding watering holes near the ballpark. Finally, if the Cardinals museum is a must see, I recommend going on a non-game day......you could barely walk around the main area roughly 1-2 hours before first pitch. read more

Crowded like i've never seen in St Louis (it did just open to be fair), this megolith has now become the go to destination in the city to watch Cards games and more broadly go out downtown. They've built similar structures in many cities across the country around stadiums to try to capitalize on pre-game/tailgate traffic. This one takes it a step further by offering Wrigley field style seating where you can actually look in on the stadium. Now that i've given an overview, its basically a food court of bars with a hallmark feature of insufficient restrooms. There's a nice large parking lot and the bars super cool, trendy and nice (and of course each one has its own unique style). if that's what you are looking for, great, just not my style.
