I've been going to Dr. Ellis at Family medicine for about 6 years now, and this office has very…read morenice doctors, nurses, and administrative staff. I believe they are all affiliated with Beverly Hospital and that network. They always call to remind me of my scheduled appointments the day before they occur, in case you need to reschedule, the staff is very quick at responding when you call with a question or need to get a referral or documents sent to a specialist, and they dont leave you waiting around forever. Scheduling physicals are a little annoying, as you cant get one immediately, the appointments are usually a few weeks to a month from when you call (unless you schedule one for a year from the day you come in for one. Although, if you are sick, they will see you immediately - the same day, unless you call late in the afternoon, then they will have you come in the next morning. My doctor is very good about checking in with me about my health, progress in weight loss, nutrition, or other concerns, and when i had my pap done, letting me know about various womens health solutions available (birth control etc). I recently had a medical emergency and the office consistently called me to make sure i was ok, and to follow up on appointments with specialists to see their diagnosis. It was not cumbersome or confusing since the staff always gave me referrals to doctors who accepted my health insurance and were local. I've seen patients of all ages here. If you need a new primary care physician who looks out for you and is great at giving you important health info (not simplistic, condescending statements), Family Medicine is a great office to go to.

This is an incredibly busy office. I have no specific complaints about my doctor, Dr. Gemme. She is…read morea competent and kind physician. Their nurse practitioner is also great. Although it does seem like lately their doctors are being asked to limit time with patients. This being said, I do feel that perhaps they have too many patients, and if you are looking for a calm, organized front office - this is not it. Every time I go in, there are new employees at the front desk, and sometimes it reminds me of a busy investment firm - rather than a doctor's office. The woman who greets is lovely however, and she tries her best. I was late several times (10 mins & 15 mins) due to traffic around my school on one occasion and problems finding parking out front, and then due to an unanticipated phone call from a parent - I am a teacher. When I gave them my reasons, I was made to feel like I had broken a cardinal rule, my physician would have to cancel. Given I have waited in their waiting room on many occasions, upwards to 30 mins with no complaint, this seemed strange to me. Patients are not only looking for good care, they are also looking for kindness and respect.

My doctor was great. No complaints there…read more My co-payment was $30. I paid it with a credit card (I tried to give them cash, but they don't accept it). Days later I had remembered I had a Health Savings Account debit card. I decided to call Billing, have them refund the $30 on my credit card and charge the HSA debit instead. The transaction seemed easy. Come to find out, they never refunded the $30 on my credit card, and instead of withdrawing $30 on my debit card, they withdrew $200. I've been calling and using the portal for two weeks - simply requesting Billing to call me. The folks on the portal said Billing would call, but they haven't. Two weeks of silence. My only recourse was to file a report with the Beverly Police Dept. They'll follow up with the NSPG or the Salem Court will. An abysmal experience. If anyone has Scott Sperling (Mass General Brigham, Chair) and/or Anne Klibanski (Mass General Brigham, CEO) contact info....please share it. I want them to know my experience.
