It doesn't look much from the outside (located in a strip mall next to Jewel Osco), but on the inside, it's way more spacious and really modern. I noticed their HUGE nail selection immediately. Right when I entered I was immediately greeted, instructed to wash my hands, and pick a color from the no-chip set of nail colors. It was pretty busy too since they have a few specials going on. I came in for the $55 no chip mani/pedi combo special (they charge for no-chip removal if you come in with the polish one which I've never had to pay for before). My appointment was for 11am, and I was waiting in the pedicure chair for around 20 minutes before someone came and started. They were also taking a lot of walk-ins which is great, but they were already busy enough for the people who had appointments, so everything got delayed for everyone. I make an appointment so it's convenient for me and the staff, so being delayed around 20-30 minutes threw my schedule off a little. One of my pet peeves is when nail salons take so many walk-ins when they're already so busy with people that make appointments, because it just sucks for the people that made an appointment purposely to avoid that. The girl next to me and I were talking and she wasn't started on until 40 minutes in. The biggest thing was the extremely misleading sign/specials they have posted all over. It says no chip mani + pedi for $55 on their specials, so that's exactly what I got. I also mentioned it to them in the beginning that I'm getting the no chip mani pedi special and they said okay. They didn't explain anything to me. Once we come up to the total, it's $80. Since I was paying cash, they made it cheaper to $70. I asked why it came out to $80 when I said I wanted the $55 special, they tried to explain it to me but it wasn't making any sense and I didn't wanna make a scene so I just paid it, tipped, and left. This place was very misleading and not up-front about how the deal works at all. I would've just gotten a pedicure, I only got a manicure for part of the deal. I also asked if they're still doing 15% off for new customers because if you type in their business name on Google, it literally says "(15% off for new customers)" in their business name. But when I asked, one of the ladies said that was for the grand opening in the snarkiest way and it made me feel so dumb for asking a simple question I saw online. Why even have that online if it was only for the grand opening? Needless to say I won't be returning. Please be upfront about how your specials work! read more

I'm very critical of my nails. The girl nipped my skin repeatedly with the electric nail file. Around the nail bed is bumpy and jagged. The color is not even, you can see the brush strokes. Didn't cut away the peeled skin she created by filing my skin. On the sides you can see my nail. My regular place (next to Walgreens) was closed due to renovations. My mother and I have been clients at Tinas nail salon for quite some time now. I will say that until you find the right person there, my favorite is Mylee, it can be a challenge as every nail tech has their own ways of doing nails. Mylee does a spectacular job and my dip has been lasting me for about three weeks now! As far as the salon, it's clean and relaxing, but stressful when it comes towards wait times which is their biggest flaw. Tina will book up the place without considering the fact that people have places to be and can't wait around for 2 hours. Tina the owner I guess at first was nice but then I got my nails done yesterday at 11am & today at work my design along with the clear top came off I saw it coming because it was a very thin layer and one nail is longer then the other. I came back to tinas straight from work today to get it fixed I was told I'd wait 20 minutes and ended up waiting an hour for a mistake they made. This is my second time witnessing Tina kicking out a Black Women Tina kept telling her she could leave if she wanted to the lady told her multiple times to leave her alone and be quite but Tinas intention was to get rid of her and kept telling her to leave. Lady got up and left. That honestly broke my heart. What a shame Tina!!! You have clients and you don't value or appreciates the business these ladies bring to you. I can never go back there RACISM, POOR HYGIENE POOR APPRECIATION TO HER CUSTOMERS HORRIBLE!!! Tina herself told me once one customer leaves more come back. Ladies pay attention they "all the employees there" never wash their hands after finishing pedicures or ever! My cuticle would not stop bleeding which then to stop the bleed someone convinced me that she would apply superglue to it and reassured me by saying that's what HOSPITALS do (false. false. false.). The application of my nail polish is so uneven in some places I kind of cringe when looking at my full hand. I approach the register and am told the price is $30 and I had to explain multiple times that is not what the plaque outside said (and I was paying cash). Were do i start? We arrived at 3pm for our 3pm appointment, no one even greeted us. Sat and listened to numerous disgruntled patrons. 330pm rolls around and we are asked to come sit in the chairs for our pedicure. The foyer is cluttered with way too many plants and decorations. Be careful when you are drying your nails as there are screws on each corner with no covers on them. Do back to sit down, i ask if i can use the restroom, I was told I could but I would need to make sure I dump a gallon of water in the toilet after. AND NO RUNNING WATER from sink SO NO HAND WASHING AND NO SOAP!! YUCK. I have to listen to patrons complaining, one woman had her nails done the day before but had to return for a complete new set and start from scratch because the original set was horrible and disgusting looking. Another patron wanted a fill and due to the language barrier and inattentive manicurist, her set was completely removed and by the time the poor patron realized what was happening it was to late to fix or even apply a new set. The patron was trying to be patient but she was so upset and stressed out. One patron actually started doing her own nails, I have never seen anything like it. Several patrons were rolling their eyes in disgust. Then on to the pedicure, it was horrible. Me and my daughter have bleeding raw cuticles. My daughter has never suffered such pain from a pedicure or manicure. Our toes and her fingers are still bleeding. This was the worst experience I have ever had. It was stressful, unsanitary, and traumatic. Then to top it off I was charged $80!!!! I will never return. There are way to many nail places to go, were you can have Running WATER. I had gotten my nails done at a different salon previously and Tina was able to fix them, they were originally uneven and on the thicker side (on my preference) and the middle nail had broke. I've been Tina's client since 2013 when she was at another salon. Then I found out she opened her own shop & I was more than thrilled! Everyone at her salon does phenomenal work, and they do their best to accommodate any requests. I typically do their Volcano Spa Pedicure, which includes a 1 hour hot stone massage, paraffin wax treatment, exfoliant, and some special products that have an effervescent quality for the soak...it is superbly relaxing and honestly, the service is given at a much more reasonable $$ than other salons do for a similar service. My manicures always look impeccable, and classy--but the best thing is ---My nails don't break/lift or crack as they have from manicures done in other much pricier salons. I look forward to my bi-monthly visits! What's also really nice is the personal relationship I've developed with the nail techs who work on me...Helen is awesome at eyebrows & wax--she's also done my pedicures a few times and I was very happy with her service. Mylee is my GO-2-GAL when it comes to manicures, she makes the strongest nails while still keeping the look very light and feminine--no bulky nails here! Peter is also one of my go-to's for pedicures, he really takes his time and gives great massages for a very relaxing experience! I would suggest calling and booking an appointment and specifying what services, and how many people are in your party, if booking for more than just yourself. You can also request which techs you would like---they are all good, but if you find someone who gets your style & the look you are going for, then specify. I love Tina's Nail Spa. Tried it out on a whim a couple of months ago and it's been my go to ever since. They give the best dip manicure I've ever had. I've tried several other local salons and the dip always comes out so thick. I've had Strawberry and Tina both do dip manicures on me, and have loved them every time. They are very good with shape of the nail as well. Just was in last night in fact and changed the shape from round to coffin and love them!
