Service was speedy but disrespectful. If you're looking to enjoy yourself, I wouldn't buy anything. Perhaps just pre-game elsewhere to avoid the rude bartender. The issue is primarily the heavy set, short haired, masc presenting woman behind the bar. My most recent interaction with her, I was present while she yelled at a young gay man for calling her "babe." It was really uncomfortable. She was also really rude to a young woman celebrating her 21st who didn't know what she wanted to drink right away. Very unnecessary attitude. Door staff are kind always. The other bartenders seem unproblematic. However the experience is really ruined by the one female employee who treats customers so disrespectfully. read more

Horrible service. I don't go to the tin often, I don't usually feel welcomed. The guest and atmosphere are great, drinks are amazing, and it's the gay bar in the neighborhood. Been here several times now and understand why this bar has been around for such a long time. The bartender, Steve, made me a Blue Hawaiian tonight and it was probably one of my favorite drinks I've tasted so far in my journey of trying alcoholic beverages. I have never really enjoyed alcohol, so it's nice when I find a drink I enjoy. We also tried the Woo Woo cocktail and it was good as well. The bar offers a summer menu selection of limited-time mixed drinks, a pool table and a jukebox playing requested songs. The friendly crowd overall tends to be there to have a great time. First time going to this place. At first cool vibe. Went back in from outside with a put out cigarette and "bouncer" told me I have to leave because bartender "gave him the look." I asked said bartender why, and she said "I don't know why he said that" as she's smoking on a vape. The closest gay bar to us in Costa Mesa! Finally made it out during Pride 2022. There was a great crowd present but still enough room to not feel claustrophobic and still be able to claim a space. Music is great and adds to the vibe. Service is quick. Bartender was kind and efficient. Ordered and the drinks were made quickly with a beautiful amount of alcohol. Granted we ordered tequila soda with lime (Epsolon tequila). Quick cocktail made quickly. $11 each. Pricing isn't bad based on their pours. Can't wait to frequent this bar more often. read more

I would give negative stars if I could. I thought this was a safe space after coming a few times before (the customers were really nice and I met a lot of wonderful people) BUT the staff is DISGUSTINGLY disrespectful. I was waiting in line for the bathroom when a bouncer named Anthony walked through with some glasses to take to the bar. I moved to the side to let him through. Apparently I wasn't standing on the "right" side of the wall and he became irate. I genuinely thought he was joking by telling me to step to the other side of the hallway so he could get through because there was plenty of room for him to walk by. Suddenly he starts aggressively shoving me out of the way and threatening to kick me out of the bar because I'm "too intoxicated". I was dumbfounded and kept motioning for him to just walk by! Other customers started stepping in and trying to stop his aggressive behavior. Finally my friends pulled me into the bathroom and out of his way. I genuinely believe he would have kept shoving me until I was out of the bar if they did not intervene. We left the bar immediately after and even tried to confront other staff members and warn them about his behavior. Unfortunately, they were not very understanding and stuck up for him despite the fact that he physically assaulted a woman. They even tried to bring him out to resolve the situation and he denied shoving me. At that point I walked away from the conversation and realized that I had to spread the word about this place. This bar is NOT a safe space and DOES NOT deserve anyone's business!!!! read more

I've been here many times and have had the same bad experience, twice now, with a super rude bartender with green hair. The first time I was served by them I came in with a friend of mine, and after we both ordered our drinks the bartender asked my friend and I if we were queer or straight. The second we answered that we were queer their whole demeanor changed! It was literally night and day. They went from being super dismissive and short with us, to chatting us up and trying to plug their events at another bar they work at called Strut which I'm familiar with. Not too bad right? Well the next time I came in with friends and was served by this same bartender, I came in with two very straight-presenting friends. Which I guess was my first mistake with this bartender since I guess if you ARE straight or look straight I guess you'll be treated like shit by this person?! They must not have remembered me from the first time, but they completely scoffed when we ordered our drinks like we were inconveniencing them. Then, when we decided to close out our tab, I asked the bartender for the check please. They turn around and just rudely eye me up and down with their hand out, signaling me to drop my card after they demand "thirty dollars." I seriously couldn't believe how rude this persons attitude was, and if I wasn't with other friends I certainly would have called them out. Right after this, someone comes over to the bar and they're all smiles and laughs, offering to "show their tits" to their friend who pulled up right beside us. Anthony the bouncer needs to GO. He is so rude and unprofessional. For a bar that claims to be a safe queer space, coming to this bar to be met with weird people like Anthony who seems to go out of his way to ensure people feel unsafe is so disappointing. As a bouncer his job is to protect us, so why is it that all he does is make people feel unsafe? I stopped by Tin Lizzie Saloon Tuesday expecting a decent night out, but instead got served a cocktail of attitude from one of the bartenders. The female bartender working that night seemed to go out of her way to make everyone feel like they were inconveniencing her by simply existing. From the moment I walked up to order, she acted annoyed, barely acknowledged me, and rolled her eyes when I asked a simple question about the menu. Her tone was curt, her service was slow (despite not being that busy), and the drink she finally slapped down on the bar splashing everywhere. Several people around me were sharing the same look!!!!! half confusion, half "did we do something?" I've dealt with busy bartenders before, but there's a huge difference between overwhelmed and downright mean. I came back with some friends Friday evening and this same bartender was screaming and yelling at staff and customers on the other side screaming that she was going to sue and cursing at everyone and she was telling random customers to stand up so she could sit down and continue to scream and curse. I hope the management sees this reviews and talks with this clearly angry person! How embarrassing!!!!!! I think with nicer staff this place would be fun! Bathroom lines are long and multiple people come out of them at the same time causing a huge wait. But people don't come to spend their money to mean people!!!!!! While trying to figure out what to do for two hours after work and before dinner in Costa Mesa I decided to go to Tin Lizzies and meet up with some friends for a quick drink. I've been here several times before and always find myself coming back. We got there today when they opened at 4:00pm and a few people trickled in here and there. It's a great bar with fun unpretentious people! You can actually say hi to someone without attitude back. Good tunes were playing on their music machine thing! Restrooms were pretty decent for a local bar too! No food but they do sell chips and Drew was a cute and friendly bartender that made some good suggestions for our drinks! They have several tables inside, a pool table, and an outdoor seating area. We were able to get quick service at the bar even as it got busy. They had a food truck, too. Bartender working 8/21 PM shift is very rude, impatient and dismissive with a nasty attitude. Before saying hello or anything to us, they immediately told my friend to "put that down."They were referring to the menu on the bar top that other people were also looking at in a different seat because they no longer were making cocktails. We simply asked for canned/bottle drinks even though they were still two hours before closing. Later when we were sitting at the patio the same bartender came out to tell us "hey guys you need to leave because i have to clear this place up." When we looked their way they quickly added not even 5 seconds later "that means get up right now i'm serious" and stepped towards us. They said all of that as we were already getting up to leave. Then we walked inside and there were still people sitting at booths and the bar which the bartender said nothing to them. Just extremely rude and impatient for no reason. This is not our first experience with this bartender but definitely still disappointing since there are not many queer bars in OC and that's how they choose to interact w us. read more

Upon entering, you'll see the dim tungsten lighting, the deep red wallpaper and furniture, and a full bar. There is one pool table. Restrooms are very clean. There wasn't much of a crowd mid-week, so there was plenty of space. The bartender was friendly with a nice greeting, made a delicious drink, and kept every order and service request on track. A hetero couple at the bar was arguing with him, although I have no idea what about. He closed them out and asked them to leave, and they did. I just got the impression that they take no crap here. As it should be. I was especially impressed by the heft and quality of the glasses there. The server also made a great drink, flavorful and in the right ratios. Important note for planning your evening - they don't serve any food here. It might be a good place to visit after dinner somewhere, or later after dining somewhere else. If it's early enough, the Rooster Cafe next door might be open. Give it a try. read more
