Checked into the hotel and walked down to eat dinner. Hubby enjoyed his pork loin dinner. He really liked the sauce. It came with a small portion of potatoes and hot apples. This place is located in Kansas Star Casino. There's no other entrance to the restaurant, but through the main casino entrance/exit. We went here for a late lunch. Couldn't seat for the dinner so we sat at the bar and peep at their bar menu. As expected, most of the food on menu were fried/finger food and limited until dinner time. We saw a bunch of people ordering loaded nachos, and they hella packed it with chips. wasn't in the mood for it. Instead we order chips with queso, a pub burger and a spicy burger and it cames with fries. It was plentiful and it was decent for casino food. Not the best, but good to eat and enjoyed. The Tin Lizard bar and grill had a laid back sports bar atmosphere. Plenty of TVs showing Olympic sports events and other games. They were really short staffed so I was waiting in line for about 5 minutes, and after being seated another 10 minutes until my order was taken. Waited about 20 minutes for the food to arrive, and it was pretty tasty. So the food was good and worth the wait, and I don't hold it against them because there was only 1 waitress taking people's orders and seating guests. read more

This one is pretty cut and dry. Decent food, nice staff. There ya go! While there isn't too much to say about Tin Lizard other than it's kind of a Hard Rock Cafe knockoff with guitars on the walls and a "rock 'n' roll" theme'd menu, there also isn't too much to complain about. The staff always seems a bit understaffed and the constant flow of casino regulars cashing in their free food steals a ton of attention away from the patrons paying at the bar. The food ain't half bad, but it aint half good either. It does seem to come out differently at different times of the day as the pizza was pretty good at night but during the day it left something to be desired. The taco salad was something you'd be happy to whip up at home but a little cheated when paying for it, but my buddy did say the potato soup was quite good... heartburn impending. Unless you're going to the steakhouse or the small cafe, this is your only real option for food. Take what you can get, I suppose! read more

Went here after a concert at the casino. It was a Friday at 10 pm, we had to wait 25 minutes to get a table. The service was good, it was comfy & not very loud. To begin the review, we had a $50 comp from Star. We were seated in a booth, behind the bar, which was fine. Tin Lizard is open to the gaming floor. We were promptly given our drinks, provided with the name of our server, who arrived in a timely manner. We ordered the Spicy shrimp appetizer, and two entrees. One was chicken fried steak, and the other Chicken breast with a spinach, mushroom, sun-dried tomato sauce, which we planned to split. Both entrees also came with mashed potatoes and green beans. The servings were generous with two pieces of meat on each entree. The steak had very little flavor besides salt, and the breading was removed easily/ flaked off. The chicken was very watery, and suspect it may have come from frozen breast slices. The sauce was too thick on both entrees, and visibly congealed into thick paste-like pools. The green beans were also noticably from frozen, and had no flavor but salt. The shrimp came smothered (yuck) in a aioli with again, very little flavor, was lukewarm but the dipping sauces saved it. I am a conservative diner, and often bring home leftovers. Neither of us finished our meals,we left two of the six shrimp and refused offered take-home boxes. All in all meal looks appealing, but fails on taste. Our server was pleasant and attentive. read more

Do not let this restaurant sway your possible stay at the hotel. The hotel and staff are great. This place? Not so much. I ordered the loaded "brisket" nachos and garlic parmesan chicken wings. Hop on and buckle up. Let's go for a ride. Being from Texas and traveling through Kansas, anytime I see brisket on some nachos I do a little dance and get excited. That excitement lasted .0021 seconds as soon as I opened the lid and saw what they call brisket. I won't refer to this as brisket anymore, because I don't want to disrespect actual brisket. This will now be referred to as meat. The meat that was laying on top of the nachos was paper thin. It's like they shredded it from roast beef and called it the unspoken word. I did man up and try it just so I can get the full picture and I immediately regretted it. Over all the only good thing on these nachos where probably the chips and I am sure those came from a bag. The queso was terrible. The guac was terrible. It made me want to cry that people in Kansas have this is as an example of mexican food and or BBQ. I feel for y'all. I do. At this point I was honestly already so hurt by the nachos, that I already had a bad taste (no pun intended) going into the chicken wings. So I tried to be as non-biased as I could, but these things are hard to explain. The actual chicken wing was cooked decent. A little to crispy for my liking, but not the worst I've ever had. But that sauce they use is just weird. It left a after taste that I can't explain. And honestly if someone is speechless from your food it means 1 of 2 things. 1 being hot damn, this is so wonderful I can't talk. 2 being hot damn, this is terrible and I want to leave. I have taken the pandemic into consideration. I ate here two nights. The ladies at the bar were friendly and attentive. However, the food was mediocre. The first night, wanting something light, I ordered the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The lettuce was strangely chopped and inexplicably wet, given the dressing being on the side. I don't know if they tossed it in oil or what, but it was strange. The dressing was incredibly salty. The presentation was sad. This is one of Kansas Star casino's newest additions. Food is delicious! Ordered the artichoke and spinach dip with pita chips, which are perfectly crisp on the outside yet warm and soft on the inside. Also got a side salad with ranch- seems ordinary but the lettuce was nice and dark green with fresh crispy cucumbers, carrots, cheese and tomatoes. My friend got the fish and chips, it smelled and looked really tasty. They always have a drink special, for instance tonight they had the Shock It To Me drink special for $5. It's a combination of liquor and Shocktop draft beer. They are super hyper local here when it comes to local specials and Wichita State. Live band starts at 930 every Friday. After a long day of driving the Tin Lizard Bar & Grill was a fantastic surprise! We made reservations in Mulvane, KS at the Hampton Inn & Suites. We arrive and it was attached to the Kansas Star Casino. Perfect as we sure didn't want to get back in the car to go to dinner- this is where we walked into Tin Lizard!. We did seat ourselves, took a bit to order our drinks as no one was around yet we did enjoy the atmosphere! Lots to look at, watch and start to relax. Cool place for live music with local talent. Eat the pizza, you won't regret it. Friendly staff. That said, WTH is up with the bartenders? Ordered a double Crown and Coke, the only thing doubled was the ice and Coke. Long week at work and I wanted a simple little buzz to relax and to enjoy the Crown. For the price of the drink I should have been given a handle of Crown and a can of Coke. Should have expected as much from a State owned and operated Casino. Not sure how to rate the Lizard. There on Labor day for dinner and quite possibly the most disinterested service I have ever had. Clearly the people working wanted to be somewhere else. I have had pizza here before and it's really good but had a burger this time and it was just sucky to be honest. On top of it took forever to get it and the fries were so seasoned and cool that they were not edible. I wondered if something was up because the place was not busy either. After a night out. We decided to get something to eat. Our waitress recommended the burger. We took her advice and ordered burgers. She asked how we wanted them cooked we responded medium rare. Our burgers came out about 20 minutes later only to find they were cooked beyond well done inedible. I asked to see the manager and explained the situation.
