DO NOT GO HERE!!! The food quality is extremely concerning. I personally saw steaks with green and yellow discoloration still being kept in the kitchen. That alone should make anyone question the standards. The food also rarely comes out the way it's advertised on the menu -- what you're promised and what you actually get are two very different things. Cleanliness is a serious issue. The bar is not properly maintained, glasses are never polished, and there has been mold in the ice. That is completely unacceptable in any restaurant, especially one serving alcohol and charging full price. The work environment is just as bad. Staff are constantly yelling at each other, and management often yells at employees in front of others. It creates a chaotic, uncomfortable atmosphere that customers can absolutely feel. There is a serious lack of professionalism, sanitation, and quality control here. Until major changes are made, I would strongly suggest dining somewhere else. read more

I imagine the downstairs more casual area was probably more crowded because of the concert but we didn't venture down to see. Service in general was friendly and attentive, but only fair in performance (see negatives below). My pork chop was tasty and fairly priced. The potato was well cooked and warm when served. However, I noticed the pork chop was still raw. I flipped it over onto the sizzling hot stone and it started to cook a bit but I was still confused and concerned. The server came to check on us and I showed her the raw meat. She quickly said "oh the chef doesn't cook that." No further explanation until I continued to share my concern while cutting into the chop. At that point she explained that "most people just cut it up and it continues to cook"... Which is what I did and ultimately it was fine, but it seemed strange that no one explained the concept and she made me feel stupid for not figuring this out on my own sooner. One of us ordered the ribeye cooked on the stone who didn't think it would be that different than what he cooks, but was amazed how good it was. The food was as good as always however our service was horrendous Saturday evening. I had a table reservation for eight people for our Celebrate Atlanta Meetup group at 6pm, prior to the Landslide Fleetwood Mac Tribute concert. It took 30 minutes before our waitress finally took our order. She claimed that it was because two of our members were late, however we tried to get her attention several times that she ignored. I was able to flag down the manager who prompted her to tend to us. During that waiting time, once, she was chatting away with two women next to us who arrived after us. She was waiting for them to make their selections from the menu rather than walking away while they pondered their choices. I saw other tables trying to get her attention. She also never did a check-back after our food was delivered. We should have been done and at the concert with plenty of time to spare, however because of her bad service, we were right up against the 8pm start time. I once again tried to flag her down to get the checks while she continuously did not look up from her other tables. She didn't just ignore us, it was all of her customers except the table she was focused on at the moment and when she tended to whatever table it was, she kept looking down while she walked to complete whatever task she was doing for them. When we finally received our checks, they were mostly wrong. She mixed everyone's orders up on the checks. Even when we asked her to make corrections, they were equally incorrect and needed to be rewritten again. I host anywhere between 1 and 3 or 4 events a week for the group. We have over 18,000 members in the greater Atlanta area, so I/we have quite a lot of experience with many of Atlanta restaurants and this was one of the worse service experiences we've ever had. We came to Tin Cup on a Wednesday evening for a 6:30 reservation on my wife's birthday. There were very few other tables occupied at that time. Service was fine. No issues. My wife and I both ordered the Steaks on a Stone for the unique experience. That portion of our meal did not disappoint. In addition, the shrimp that came with my wife's meal were quite large and tasty. We were able to cook those on the stone as well. My wife ordered a baked potato as a side, only to find out a few minutes later, that they were out of baked potatoes. Really? How does that happen? Go to a grocery store down the street and replenish inventory? Anyway, the other side was the broccolini, which was fine and easy to keep warm on the hot stone while enjoying the meal. My side was the cheese grits. This is where my review lost one star. These grits were the worst ever - grainy, fairly tasteless, barely warm. I've had instant grits from a packet that were better. Recommend avoiding those as a side dish at all costs. Otherwise fun evening and unique dining experience. My last foray out to City Center wasn't great, so I thought I'd wait a bit to let the growing pains work themselves out before heading back. Tin Cup Grill was where we landed on this particular visit. My fella saw the menu in the window, and I was intrigued so we headed inside. Tin Cup is an interesting space. The front dining room is sparce and on the minimal-side of things, but the rear dining room was warm and bright and lively...quite the contrast. We loved the 60's R&B music playing, and ordered a few cocktails and appetizers to start the evening off. Our server for the evening was Ethan, a nice young man who seemed a bit challenged. (A bit of advice kid, write your orders down perhaps?) Unfortunately it took close to 20 minutes to drop an elevated Old Fashioned and a Negroni on the table, but apparently it was a bad night for the bartender according to Ethan. The thick-cut "bacon" and Fried Green Tomatoes appetizers were tasty, and we ordered our dinner. Here's where it got interesting. If you order a steak, it's presented on an 855 degree "hot stone" where you kind of cook it yourself. Let me be clear, 855 degrees is red HOT, and the stone my date's steak came out on didn't top 300 degrees if I'm being honest. I don't mind a Korean-BBQ experience, but for $46 for one piece of meat? Probably not again. The Maryland crab cake entree was decent with good fries and slaw, but the crab cakes were more breading than anything. Disappointing for $35. We ordered two glasses of wine with dinner, which came when we were done with our Entrees. My date didn't touch his at this point. I chugged mine down like a little sister to a Frat House, and we asked to see the dessert menu. There isn't a physical dessert menu, but we were told about the rotating daily selections so we settled on coconut cake and coffee. The coffee was old and lukewarm, but the cake was a gigantic slice! I laughed when I saw it...it looked like one of those slices you get at the Marietta Diner! (Not even mad about it!) That was probably the best part of the meal. Now don't get me wrong, this place could awesome if it figured out what it actually is. There's just too much going on, and too much space being under-utlilized, and no specific theme in spite of there being a mini golf course dominating the back end of City Center that's run by Tin Cup. I'd hate to see this establishment go the way of Fairway Social in Alpharetta...a similar concept that is tanking miserably. However if they want to be a higher-end dinner house the staff is going to need a LOT more training, and the menu could stand to be tweaked. The hot stone experience? Just no. Biggest rip off on the planet and poorly-executed. Is Tin Cup Grill doing too much? Unfortunately it seems they are. I'll definitely wait a while before going back, and maybe just for a few beers and some putt-putt. Nice try though. read more

SHOCKINGLY BAD My recent visit to Tin Cup Grill in Cumming, GA left me extremely disappointed with the overall dining experience. Despite the promising concept of cooking meat on a hot stone, the execution fell flat on several fronts, and the lackluster service only added to the frustration. One of the major issues I encountered was with the poor food preparation utensils provided to cook the meat on the hot stone. When ordering the steaks and fish, you cook the meat yourself on a 800 degree hot stone. No cooking utensils are provided and you need to use the same fork and knife you'd use to eat with. This is particularly troubling since I ordered pork and my family ordered fish. Surprising a health inspector didn't insist on separate cooking utensils. The wait staff's lack of knowledge and communication only added to the mounting frustration. They failed to inform us properly on how to cook the meats on the hot stone, leaving us struggling to figure it out ourselves. Eventually, we had no choice but to seek assistance from the manager, who reluctantly provided some advice on food prep which essentially amounted to cutting all the meat and fish up into tiny bites so they cook properly. The managers did apologize for the poor communication. Furthermore, the lack of instructions for the flavored oil presented yet another safety hazard. My daughter, eager to participate in the interactive cooking, ended up getting scolded with hot liquid while attempting to cook the salmon herself. This incident was distressing and could have easily been avoided with proper instruction. We weren't even aware that it was oil and not just a sauce to cook with. The disappointment extended to the children's menu as well. The chicken tenders lacked crispiness and our 8 year old was less than impressed. There are only 3 children's menu options so this was a little annoying. We did enjoy the appetizer and our drinks were nice. The Cinderella Ball cocktail was a delight. Sadly, I cannot recommend this restaurant to others until significant improvements are made in their food preparation practices and customer service. For the price and quality of food, you'd be better off to cook at home. My family and I did laugh imagining playing 18 holes of golf and then going to an establishment like this and forced to cook your own food and get splashed with oil. I'd imagine in a few months they will change the menu to be more traditional. Either that or they would need to significantly revamp their entire process. read more

We have heard bad things about the food here from several people, but wanted to decide for ourselves. We like the Cumming City Center and enjoy the concerts and events they have so we wanted to like this restaurant. It is a cute space with a rooftop bar, but they leave the bottom open so you are hot and have flies in your food. Two of us ordered the chicken wrap and fries, my husband ordered the pork sandwich and another fried tried to order the burger with a gluten free bun that was listed on the menu. When she ordered the burger and asked for the gluten free bun we were told they didn't have any. They said they would wrap it in lettuce which usually works if it's enough to hold the burger. The spinach dip appetizer was the only thing that we ordered that was decent but it was served with three large crackers for dippers for a large portion of dip. I have never seen spinach dip served like that and it wasn't easy to eat with them. The chicken wraps were dry and tasteless and the French fries were the worst fries we have ever tasted. Everyone left almost their entire portion on their plate. The burger had one piece of lettuce wrapped around it so you couldn't pick it up. She said it wasn't a good burger even if it could have been eaten easier. My husband didn't like his pork sandwich so no one enjoyed their food. The ambiance is casual chic. You can dress up or down and be comfortable here. The whole place including the bathrooms were clean and nice. Everything about the experience was excellent! Rob, our server was professional, attentive without being overbearing and very personable. We got the Wagyu Meatballs for an appetizer. The meatballs were very flavorful, cooked perfectly, and the marinara was amazing with a very small kick. The crostini's were perfectly crispy. I got a hole in one drink which was excellent with the Tahini ring. Perfect with the sweetness of the drink. My husband got the baby back ribs, coleslaw and french fries. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and juicy. The french fries were crisp and tender on the inside. We split a side salad. Everything in it was plentiful and fresh. I got a pork chop cooked on a stone at the table. It was lean, tender and juicy. Perfect! As my side, I got smashed red potatoes which were awesome as well. My husband and I were lucky to join Tin Cup Grill on their opening day. The space is large and beautiful. I love the different areas: wine bar, regular bar, inside dining, and patio dining. The patio and main dining areas overlook the natural wild area and mini golf course. We sat at the bar and had drinks and the nachos with grilled chicken. The bar staff was amazing and attentive. There were a TON of employees standing around in groups. Presumably they were stocked up on staff for opening day. The two negatives we experienced were: 1) we sat on the edge of the bar by the service area. We could hear every negative and frustrated comment made by staff and it got very busy and backed up and 2) the flavor of the nachos and chicken was great! However, the grilled chicken on our nachos was sliced, not chopped or shredded so we had to pull it off and cut it up ourselves. There was no way we could eat nachos with chicken they way they were served. Also, the Mexican-style nachos had kalamata olives on them, which was a little confusing. Overall, for opening day, fantastic. Our second experience was for a mid-week dinner. We opted for a lighter meal by sharing the cheese plate, tomato basil bisque soup and Cobb salad with chicken. The soup was a bit plain and not very warm (also served with a huge serving spoon, we had to ask for a regular sized spoon). The Cobb salad was fresh and tasty. The winner of the night was the cheese plate. It has a lot of yummy cheeses and meats, with fun side options (my husband loved the picked okra). My only critique would be, please don't put the jelly directly on top of the cheese, put it on the side so I can decide what, if anything, I wanted to put it on. Let me start by saying, my expectation of most small restaurants have lessened as it is very difficult to obtain staff in and outside the kitchen. We attended a music and art event at the Muse Cabin directly across from Tin Cup Grill and decided to stop in for dinner. Stepping up to the door, it looked empty, but the host escorted us to a table in the back and there was fair amount of people dining. The format is interesting as you basicity cook your own food on an extremely hot Lava Rock. I had the Salmon and others in our party had the Steak and Shrimp, all very good quality and very tasty. Initially, our waiter had to come back after the food was delivered and explain the technique. This allows you to get your meal to the exact temperature you like. As a final note, as one of the other reviewers had stated, taking small children here is not really a good idea as that lava stone is a bit dangerous. Overall, I would recommend it for dinner albeit a somewhat limited but good menu. read more

The hostess greeted us immediately and cheerfully. She was very informative and gave us several options for seating. We decided on the inner bar in the main dining room. The bartender was fantastic, made great drinks and offered recommendations. I had the salmon and it was incredible. This place desperately needed to turn things around and it looks like they are definitely on track for success! We recently returned on another Friday night and they were at capacity. I had a chance to eat here awhile back and loved the experience I had. My server had great personality and seemed genuinely interested in my day and made super helpful recommendations. This was the first time I have ever had Steak delivered out on a Hot Stone and I loved having every single bite hot and cooked to my liking. Sides were large and tasty. Overall it was a fantastic experience and the atmosphere of the restaurant was stunning and clean... felt upscale without being overly fancy. I've heard they have the rooftop open plus a new chef now and that the food is even better... so I can't wait to try it next time I am in town. Bonus: IMO... I would give it no stars but it wasn't an option. Service was bad, the food uncooked ( burger, not a do it yourself hot stone) and they were out of 2 of the 6 taps. When the food started to come out we were told that the hot stone was to cook the salmon. read more
