This is a great place for an intimate catch up with friends. Although small (and you know what they…read moresay about good things coming in small packages) the food is fresh, tasty and incredibly cheap. I had 3 vegetarian spring rolls, a massive bowl of chicken lemon grass noodles and 2 glasses of wine for $30. Now that's impressive enough (who doesn't live cheap eats?) but the taste is phenomenal! The spring rolls were fresh, packed with veges with just the right amount of crunch and the noodle bowl is massive and comes with a side of chili sauce that you can pour over to add a bit of a kick, they don't skimp on the meat either! Their decor is nice enough for a casual date (maybe not your first) and there's a family friendly vibe as soon as you walk in the door and are greeted by their wonderful staff who made us laugh as well as enjoy our food. I cannot recommend this place enough and hey, if you don't have time to stop in grab a vietnamese roll on your lunch break - sure to go down a treat!

If you live this side of town its a great place to go for a cheap lunch or dinner. Rice, soup and noodle dishes are $11- $13 and the mains don't go over $20. Again, these all have that fresh taste like good viet food should. Serving sizes are good too.

I wanted this to be better but really it was just okay…read more Located in a little house like building, the menu here is split into Thai and Vietnamese dishes. There are some great choices on the menu and at very reasonable prices - though these have gone up since the other reviews were posted, the average price was around $14.50 and not the $9 mentioned by others.... All the food was really good with decent serving sizes and the staff were really helpful but I honestly can not justify more than a 3 star rating when our dishes all came out over the space of 10 minutes. The kitchen should be capable of coordinating it so that when there is a table of 8 people there is not an excessive wait between dishes. That's just my two cents.

At a glance Viet-Thai looks like and average local miscellanious Asian takeaway restaurant. In fact, I don't think I even noticed it was there for the longest time... lucky for me some foodie friends reccommended we get take away from Viet-Thai the other night much to the groups chagrin. We had a large group and were sharing, so I got to try quite a broad range of dishes. Even a spring roll, which I would just about never order for myself but they were huge and tasty! You could actually taste the filling... which is rare, as I tend to think of them as crispy deep fried empty calories. All of the food was fresh and flavoursome! In fact I'm in a rush to go back again it was so good and the prices were really affordable, I think the most expensive dish is a seafood one at $13.90!! Standard pork, chicken and beef dishes are just $9 (bargain basement for a city slicker like me). Real standouts were the prawn dishes, the prawns were large and perfectly cooked, popping perfectly in the mouth. Goong Choo Chee (prawns w/ curry and coconut milk) was part way between a wet and dry dish andparticularly impressive.

Where else can you get a banquet for two people for $22 and not be able to eat it all. This includes spring rolls, cold rolls, three main courses and tea/coffee. The restaurant is cheery but daggy; like a lounge room from the 70's, complete with aquarium. However, all the locals know it well and it is always busy. The salt and pepper prawns and the chili, lemongrass chicken are my pick of the dishes and the reason I go there. Oh, and I nearly forgot, they do the best deserts, especially the fried ice cream. The service, while friendly, is very slow and I have been known to wave my arms around madly to get the waiters to look over. Tip: If ordering for big groups place the order on the notes of your iphone and give it to them - they love this!

My best picks of the menu are the really great cold rolls with loads of mint (like proper cold rolls) and the hotpot. There is a really pretty fish tank as you walk in on the left and leads into a reasonably spacious, yet intimate setting. They have a joint Vietnamese and Chinese menu, providing a range of choices from both cultures. Offers a range of vegetarian dishes and all menu items are relatively inexpensive compared to some of its competitors in the City.

Once we were seated the sprightly service continued and we had some recommendations from the menu. There was a bit of a wait for the food but the wait staff were very attentive and kept us in the loop. We enjoyed watching some of the photo slide shows and reading some of the MANY reviews on the wall. I have travelled Vietnam and explored lots of the cuisine and was VERY impressed at the authentic tastes that the kitchen had to offer. With a great wine list to compliment the dishes, amazing service and absolutely delicious food, it's worth the trip (though perhaps book ahead). We'll be back for their party to celebrate Vietnamese New Year!
