Garlic naan
Allena C.

My friend and I wanted to catch up over lunch on a Saturday, so we picked this spot since it was within walking distance from her house. We arrived around noon and were pleasantly surprised to find plenty of tables available. It's a nice sit-down restaurant with tablecloths and proper silverware, giving it a more upscale feel. The ambiance would also make it a great choice for date night. *** OUR PICKS *** MEAL FOR 2 ~ NON-VEG THALI ~ This included 2 samosas, chicken tikka masala, chicken tandoori, tadka dal, plain rice, butter naan (we substituted for garlic naan), raita, pickle, and a house dessert. Terrific value for the amount of food! SAMOSAS ~ Crispy, flaky crust with a flavorful curried filling. Delicious! 5/5 CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA ~ The sauce was rich and flavorful, but the chicken itself was a bit dry. Thankfully, the sauce helped, though I think using dark meat would keep it more moist. 3.5/5 CHICKEN TANDOORI ~ Served sizzling on a hot platter! The meat was surprisingly tender and juicy. While I thought it could have used a bit more seasoning, the accompanying sauces complemented it nicely. 4/5 TADKA DAL ~ Similar to a hearty curried, lentil soup/stew. It paired well with both the garlic naan and the rice. 4/5 GARLIC NAAN ~ We substituted this for the butter naan, and it was one of our favorite items. Wonderfully garlicky with the perfect balance of crispy edges and a chewy interior. So good and a must-try item! 5/5 PLAIN RICE - A little drier than I personally prefer. 3/5 RAITA - Cool, creamy, and refreshing. It went well with just about everything! 5/5 PICKLE - Very salty and quite sour, which wasn't to my taste. Fortunately, the other sauces more than made up for it. 1/5 HOUSE DESSERT - We were served a rice pudding flavored with cardamom. I appreciated that dessert was included with our meal, however it would have been nicer if we had each received our own bowl instead of sharing one with two spoons. The pudding was creamy and lightly sweetened, but the dominant flavor came from biting into whole cardamom seeds and other spices, making it less enjoyable for both of us. 3.5/5 To start, our server also brought out a few complimentary papadums with an assortment of dipping sauces, which was a nice touch. Service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. She checked on us several times, accommodated our naan substitution without an issue, and kept our water glasses filled without us having to ask. Overall, this was a solid lunch with generous portions and an excellent value. While a few dishes could use some improvement, the garlic naan, samosas, and great service were highlights. Highly recommend trying Timur if you're in the area and craving Indian/Nepalese food!!

Jhol momos (veg) were good. Must try. Samosa chaat was great. They give refills of tamarind chutney (sauce), which makes the chaat taste better. Good service and quiet ambience.

Stunning food and we were truly surprised at how good the food was. We had a bunch of food and for two people it was more than enough. Our favorites: The chicken tikka masala was the star 9/10.. creamy, lots of soft chicken and piping hot. get this! Tandoori chicken 9/10 -- sizzling on the platter and incredibly tender. Naan (their timur special) was soft and flaky! Lamb ginger curry -- unique flavors (8/10) Can skip: Chicken momos were great, needed a bit less dryness. Service is quick and attentive.

Delicious food and fast service! Perfect for a casual lunch date. Standouts for us were the steamed momos and kashmiri curry with lamb. Super fresh, delicious, nicely portioned for 2 people. We also tried the dosa and it ended up a little too much so we had to take some home. The complimentary papadam and carrot pudding were a very nice touch Great experience, would love to visit again!

Was interested in what took over the old Rose Indian restaurant location. Pleasant surprise eating here tonight. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming and made suggestions to compliment order. Food was delicious. We received a free appetizer which was a basket of papadums. Can't say enough about the chili garlic naan bread. Perfectly seasoned but edges were crispy not burnt and bread was light, soft and chewy at the same time. Not at all doughy. Sooooo good!

We were looking at new restaurants and were excited to see Timur open up on 9th We got the meal for two and it was a great meal overall. Portions could probably feed 3 or 4. We are big eaters and we had enough for leftovers The meal for two had all the popular dishes and they were all good. We got to try a bunch of food for $60. The naan tasted fresh and came out hot. I liked that the outside texture was hard but the inside was soft and chewy. The team/staff were friendly and asked for our feedback on their food. The chicken came out on a sizzling hot plate on a bed of onions. Reminded me of the presentation of kalbi and it was really tasty If i had to give constructive feedback, it would be that we weren't into the dessert.

We were looking for a lunch place for our graduation celebration. Picked this place based on solid yelp reviews. Our experience is consistent with other reviewers. Our party of 10 people had an excellent time today. The staff were very friendly. Food arrived pretty fast. They put it all together so well in spite of the many different dishes we ordered. Taste and spices were in perfect balance. Flavors may not be exactly authentic but I still liked the overall taste and the finesse. Everything was done as per our special requests. Kudos to JD and the chef.

Wow. And I mean WOW!! I've lived in the neighborhood for 8 years, and have always gone to a particular Indian restaurant that is solid, and the people are warm and welcoming. SO, when this new restaurant opened in their spot, I hesitated to go; I felt like it couldn't be THAT different. Tonight, I finally looked at the menu, was intrigued by some items I've never heard of, but then ultimately decided to order a few of the standard go-to dishes that I gauge by: - onion naan (kulcha) - VERY GOOD - chicken momo - VERY GOOD - shrimp tikka masala - BEST I'VE EVER HAD, didn't realize it could have this depth of flavor (almost a bit of wonderful char flavor, buttery, complex) - saag paneer - SAME AS ABOVE! Amazing food, and the warm and friendly service to match it. Only issue? Too full too quick. **Important note: my basic photo does not do the food justice! RUN DON'T WALK.

I love the chai latte this place offer... Jade who co owner guy served me with generous kind heart. Food is not blend or overly seasoned but rather authentic genuine ethnic spice that made from scratch. Wish more Americans can eat these kind of spices like turmeric and timur like peppercorns. Please research about these spices of health benefits: it prevents obesity, Alzheimer and etc. Bless this business and will take my friends here.

Outstanding dinner! We had the Tandoori mixed grill plate which came out sizzling, a veggie biryani dish, and GLUTEN FREE NAAN! They also surprised us with delicious rice pudding dish complimentary. We couldn't have been happier with the ambience and the warm service... This place is a great find!

We were strolling through the Inner Sunset looking for dinner when a friendly staff member lured us in with a sign for a free glass of wine and 20% off the bill for first-timers. I am so glad we took the bait! Atmosphere & Service The restaurant is clean, spacious, and feels a bit "dressy" with crisp white tablecloths and neatly set tables. However, I didn't feel out of place at all wearing a hoodie and jeans--the vibe is welcoming. The service was top-notch. Harsh and JD were incredibly friendly. Harsh, in particular, was enthusiastic and asked if we wanted to go the "experimental" route. We said yes, and he steered us toward dishes not commonly found in other Indian/Nepalese spots in SF. The Food * Timur Chaat: An incredible starter that blends cold and warm temperatures with crispy, smooth, and chewy textures. The flavors were amazing and set the stage for the meal. * Jhol Momos (Vegetarian): Harsh recommended the veggie over the chicken for more flavor, and he was right. They arrive piping hot in a savory, tomato-y broth with a steady, black-pepper level heat. It's the definition of a juicy comfort dish. * Chicken Hariyari: Super tender, juicy, and moist. The flavor profile is very unique and incredibly savory. It was great on its own, but even better when dipped in the Jhol Momo broth and topped with tamarind sauce. * Medu Vada: Grounded, seasoned white lentils fried into crispy donut shapes. Harsh taught us the proper way to eat it: cut into fourths, sprinkle with salt, dunk in sauce, and immediately follow with a spoon of sambar (vegetable soup). A fun and tasty experience. * Sizzling Brownie: For dessert, this is a hot plate of chocolate sauce, sliced almonds, and a brownie, topped with vanilla ice cream. The crispy, burnt brownie parts stuck to the plate are delicious. It was a bit too sweet for my personal taste (I usually get 25% sugar for boba), but the ice cream was fantastic. Drinks Since I'm not a big wine drinker, Harsh kindly allowed me to swap the promotion's free glass of wine for a Mango Lassi. No regrets--it was one of the best I've ever had. Rich, thick, and packed with mango flavor. Welcome to the neighborhood, Timur! With sincere service and unique cuisine, this place is highly recommended.

We were not going to eat here. We climbed out of an Uber here. We turned on Yelp and saw this was "new and hot ". The staff saw checking out the menu, and asked us come in. So we decided to give it a shot. Glad we did. We've eaten Indian food all over the world and we lived in Hong Kong and we ate it there a lot. This is on par of some of the best we've had. Everything was very fresh and had the right amount of spice. Breads are huge! Prices are reasonable, portions generous. Upscale setting with white table cloths and cloth napkins. The prices are not what you would expect from such a nice setting. Two of us chowed down for less than 40 bucks! The staff is excellent and cares about you having a good experience. If you love Indian food the way we do, be sure and check this place out while you're in SF.

There was a bottle of water on each table. The food came out in three pretty silver bowls. The nice metal bowls added to the experience. The chicken tikka masala was the exact right amount of spice. Not too hot, not too mild. I could taste the butter and the chicken was perfectly cooked and moist. The rice was rice. It was exactly what I expected and cooked fine. The cheese garlic naan tho... good lord I could eat 100 orders of it. Insanely good. So much butter, cheese, garlic, and hot out of the oven (or wherever). I would absolutely order it again. I spent about $30 on everything (16 for entree, 3 for rice, like 5 for naan, then tip). For $30, I was stuffed and it felt like a great value. Ambiance was nice. I already mentioned the bowls, but the music was just Indian bangers. I didn't know any of the songs, but two of them in particular were so good that I wish I had asked what they were. Like electronic Indian party music. So good. Will definitely go again when I have time to kill in the area again.

Definitely not a place you want to sit down for a meal on a weekend. The kitchen is open too and the utensils looked oily and blackened. The service team seems to be a family and they were very warm but felt something was missing. The food arrived quickly and was good, not great. Revisit score: 1/5

"Authentic" is one of those words that gets thrown around in reviews of ethnic restaurants without…read moremuch thought behind it. People use it to mean tasty, or familiar, or just different from a chain. That's not what I mean when I use it. To me, authentic means the food isn't pretending to be something it's not, that the flavors and intention come from a real place: heritage, roots, memory. My benchmark is simple. When someone who grew up eating this food says it tastes like home, that's the review that matters. That's the one I trust. Keeva earns that word. Rita is the heart of it, but Keeva is a family labor of love and you feel that from the moment you walk in. When the restaurant first opened she told us about the dream they had to bring the taste of home to the people of San Francisco, and you could feel it. Her kids were often playing in the restaurant when we'd stop by. That kind of detail tells you everything about what this place is. What made me a regular wasn't just the food, which is delicious, it was Rita coming to every table, checking in, teasing us about why she hadn't seen us in a while, steering you toward something you hadn't tried yet. She didn't do this selectively for certain customers. She did it for everyone. That kind of warmth is rare, and it's the whole reason eating out is worth doing in the first place. The dishes are made with intention. You can taste the difference between food that was assembled and food that was cooked with purpose. Keeva is the latter. And if you ask for spicy, prepare yourself. I used to live about a block away and this was my go-to. Moving out of the Inner Richmond meant leaving Keeva behind, and I genuinely miss it. If you're in the neighborhood, what are you waiting for? If you're not, it's worth the trip!

We started with a giant dosa and the chick pea passion fruit cups (can't remember the name). The potato inside the dosa was a nice surprise and so good, the chick pea cups were a flavor explosion... sweet, spicy, savory. Now to the highlight... the COD was to die for. The sauce it comes with, the tenderness, cooked to perfection. Just order it, you won't regret it. We were talking to someone who had been multiple times and he was saying that their seafood is what they are known for, made sense because the octopus and cod were my favorites. They were really busy but our server was really nice and never made us feel rushed. Also the ambiance is really nice and fancy, perfect for a date night with my girlfriend.
