My wife and I needed to purchase some new some new gas logs (our old ones had finally died after 25+ years of service). We first went to a major "propane dealer" who sells them and while the sales person was nice enough, and gave us lots of information, it really seemed as if they didn't care about our business. Many years ago, I needed to do some repair to old set of gas logs (they needed a thermocouple) and Tim not only gave me great advice, he gave me the the thermocouple at no charge. Who does that? So, I/we definitely decided to go to Tim's Gas Depot to see what they had in the way of gas logs. Glad we did and glad we got there early! We live in an old home, Circa 1849, and it has been a challenge to insulate it to say the least. We Use our logs! I explained this to them along with the dimensions of our firebox and was shown what they had that would fit and the various options that went with them. The sales person even went so far as to turn down the lights so we could see them in that "atmosphere." The biggest problem we had in the end was deciding between two different sets and it came down to the "look " as much as anything. Yes, we bought the set we ended up living the best and by the volume of people coming in as we left, it is obvious that Tim's Gas Depot must be doing something right! Friendly staff, helpful and knowledgeable about the products, and a very competitive price point! We can't wait to have our new ones installed! read more

Tim put in our gas FP a few years back. Has been an excellent choice. Puts out great heat with realistic flames. Guests are always impressed. read more

I waited almost 2 weeks for this appointment to repair my gas fireplaces. They never showed up. They said they did show up and we weren't here. They said they rang the ring doorbell. My ring doorbell has no notifications. Now they are gonna put me off another two weeks for this appointment. read more

I prefer working with a locally owned business and found that many of the fireplace shops did not offer installation or service. Tim's staff asked great questions and offered solutions that fit my situation. They have some amazing stuff, but provided me with exactly what I was looking for. I highly recommend. read more

From start to finish very professional, the worker they sent to clean our gas fireplace showed me everything I needed to know and more. He answered all my questions and some silly ones too. If you want affordable service with a very pleasant southern disposition to work on your fireplace look no further. Anyone who asks where they can find a reliable knowledgeable person to fix or work on their fireplace or propane system, I tell them Tims is the place to go!!! read more

Great customer service. I contacted Tim about a minor install issue I just noticed - over three years after they put in my fireplace. He responded to my email the next day and had things fixed in 5 days at no charge. I would say they stand behind their work. Professional and friendly. read more

We bought gas logs from Tim's Gas Depot in 2009 and have been very happy with the gas logs and the service ever since. Minor service was needed in 2013 and again in 2017. In both instances, Justin from Tim's service department visited our home and completed the routine service within an hour. Justin is extremely knowledgeable, professional and courteous. It is very comforting to know that Tim's employees are well trained and they stay with the company, it speaks well for Tim and Justin. I highly recommend Tim's Gas Depot for sale and service of gas log products. Jim B. read more

I cant begin to tell you how frustrating it has been dealing with this so called business for the last 3 years! I have been in my newly built house for 3 year now. Our wood burning fire place that Tim's Depot installed for us would not draft up the chimney for what ever reason. They constantly gave me the run around for the last three years about fixing it, even told me to open doors and windows when we wanted to have a fire so that it would draft. Every time they came out to look at it, I had to leave work early, and spend a half a day at least waiting on them to show up past the time they said they would be there. This happened at least 10 different times over the past 3 years. They finally agreed to put in a gas fire place, over the summer at this point of course, because they never could figure it out. Well, they never put the metal flashing cap over the chimney pipe, or caulked anything up. So low and behold, I had lots of water pouring down into my attic and down my chimney pipe into the house. I called them to fix the leak and they told me that it would be a few days before they could get there, with lots of rain in the forecast for those days, couldn't believe it! An entire week went by so I called them back to see what the hold up was, and they told me that he had already been by there, and that the leak was fixed. Well guess what, it wasn't fixed at all. So now after a few more phone calls, he had to come back out to fix it again, or for the first time that is. They told me that he would be there between 9-10AM, so I left work once again to meet him at the house. 10 o'clock comes around and I give them a call, because no one is there yet, and she annoyingly tells me that he left about 20 minutes ago and should be there shortly. He finally shows up around 2:30, yes 2:30, and fix's the leak. This past weekend the temp dropped down into the 30's at night, so I go to turn the gas logs on and guess what, they don't work!!!! All the water that had leaked down shorted out the electrical components!! I literally just called them now to let them know, and she rudely, annoyingly and without any care or compassion for the situation, told me that it would be ANOTHER week before he could get out there to fix the problem! WOW! Terrible, Terrible business!! I haven't been able to have a fire in this house since we moved in 3 years ago and she has no concern or care for this what so ever. Bottom line, this is a horrendous company that you want nothing to do with. Trust me. read more

Formerly Tim's Gas Depot of Woodrow St (Irmo) - been in business awhile. My experience was that the guys couldn't resolve the issue I had with gas logs lighting but not staying lit. It just seemed like anything beyond the typical issues resolved with canned air and settings adjustments was beyond their tech's scope. His techs communicated that they are hired with zero relative experience and that their 'training' consists only of being handed stacks of 3-ring binders/manuals to read on their own time before they are sent to your home as techs that can service your logs. My issue ended up taking multiple service calls -- by the 4th svc call was when Tim himself showed up. During the onsite call, he accidentally snapped off the ignitor had been working perfectly up to that point. He didn't bother to convey that info to me and instead he told me he would order the parts needed to get the logs operable and it would be 3-5wks before he could get someone back out with it being peak season now. Frustrated by accommodating the need for 4 visits and still no working logs - which were less and 2yrs old and still under warranty - I decided to get another company onsite to see if they could do any better. The other vendor made it out in 3 days later and showed me that part of my problem was that the ignitor was no longer attached -- it had been snapped off and was just leaning against the unit. Amazingly, when I cancelled the f/u call with Tim, I received a bill from Tim's for that service call that he broke my ignitor -- and after leaving vmail with no return call, I returned their bill with a brief explanation of why I felt it wasn't fair to bill me for that service call. Subsequently I had the other vendor replace the broken ignitor but the logs still didn't stay lit. During that time, this vendor confirmed the regulator was likely the culprit. He could order the part but, again, it's the thick of peak season now so the part would take a week to get in and he would have to schedule thereafter. With info on what the actual issue was, I got on YouTube and learned how to change a bad regulator -- a fairly straightforward process. I ordered the part on Amazon, replaced my own regulator and that resolved the problem in 2-days -- the time it took Amazon to deliver the part. On a more positive note, originally Tim installed ventless gas logs in a wood-burning fireplace and he was efficient, fairly-priced, cleaned up the premises before leaving -- he did an impeccable job. Later, when upgrading the logs, again, no problem -- very happy. Propane tank refills/deliveries are completed within days of a service call. read more
