Found them by accident. Needed a new tire and went to Tire Rack online for the first time. Was very pleased with the price and service buying the tire and rear wiper blade. They then recommended a handful of local places to have the tire and wiper blade shipped to, showing what the installation cost would be. After checking out reviews I chose Tim's. I spoke with Tina at Tim's, who was very nice snd patient with me as I told her this was my first time using Tire Rack and Tim's. She explained how it would work. I got notified that my tire was delivered a day later and got an appointment a couple of days later at my convenience. The shop was modest in size compared to the dealership where I am used to going. The bill was also modest in size and no surprises from the price quoted by Tire Rack. The waiting area was quite pleasant, Like Tina. There was coffee, tea, fresh fruit, cakes and candy. Tootsie Roll pops among the goodies. I will confess to my age when I say that I enjoyed watching their "MeTv" which was playing a childhood favorite: Perry Mason. I even recognized the theme song at first which caught my attention. The work was done quickly and professionally. I recommend Tim's highly as well as Tire Rack. Never go to this installer. I brought 2 new tires for my Maxima which is FW Drive, because was slipping in the Front during the last snow storm. They disregard my request to put the tires on the Front, after I specifically said I need them on the front. They put the tires on the back and REFUSED to put them on the front as I requested and told me I just need to buy 2 more tires for the front. read more

These guys took me in when I really needed them. I had my donut spare on my car from a flat I got a few days prior. I had a temp rope plug in the original tire and just needed it swapped out. Another tire/muffler place had refused to do so and tried to sell me a brand new tire. (Different review for that place forthcoming) So I called Havertown on my way to work on a morning with snow in the forecast. Asked if I brought it in, if they could do the switch. They said yes, come on in. While I waited I had coffee and watched tv on a comfortable couch in a relatively clean waiting room (for a mechanic--best I've seen). After about 15-20 mins they had looked at my temp plug and explained that it wasn't great for long-term use, and recommended a permanent plug for $30. I approved, they did it then and there, and I was out the door just as the snow began to fall. Everyone was friendly and I've been riding on my plugged tire, which has plenty of mileage left in it, for almost 2 months. No problems. Just passed state inspection. Thumbs up. read more

They did find a few things that needed fixing on my 11 year old Jeep, but that was to be expected. Over the next few months, they did regular servicing on both my Jeep and my wife's 15 year old Toyota. They kept both running well. On one emergency repair for me, they were even to get the job done early for less than they estimated. If I still lived there, I would still have them do all my work. Just returned from having 4 tires installed that were delivered through Tire Rack. All in all, just an exceptionally good experience. How often can you say that about any sort of auto service? I received a call from Tim at 10:30 letting me know the tires were in and we scheduled a same day appointment for 3 pm. No waiting for days on end! The car was taken in shortly after my arrival and all four tires were mounted and balanced in about 30 minutes. While waiting I observed 30 minutes worth of highly professional and friendly service, then had the pleasure of chatting with Tim for a few minutes. Great price on the installation ($20 per tire) with absolutely no hidden charges or unnecessary work pushed on me. I had an emergency during my workday with my car not working properly. I had called up my usual auto repair shop who stated they were backed up for the day and that I could come and wait, but they couldn't guarantee service be completed that day. Knowing I had to drive out of town for a family emergency, I looked up the next closest auto repair shop and found this place. I drove over, and they took me in immediately without any wait time and fixed my car within 10 minutes. I had accidentally driven my car over a flooded area the day before and the plastic underlining of my car came loose and kept making a terribly loud scraping sound every time I drove it. They fixed this problem and didn't even charge me for their time and effort. I'm couldn't be more grateful for their generosity. read more

Ken, You've lied to me a number of times. First off, you said your name was Tim. Secondly,i got oil changes at Firestone; meanwhile, Goodyear replaced my tire. Thirdly, in my complaint to the BBB, you said we made an appointment and we never did. Fourthly, Firestone DOES NOT use nitrogen air for their tires. Fifthly, you said you could replacement the valve but at a cost. And finally, you did not check with where you purchased my speciality tire ($300) that you had to order of whether they gave you the N2 valve. So any way you cut it, you are responsible for it but refuse to own up to it. That is why i will never step foot in your shop again. read more

Absolutely horrendous customer service! I walked in to get a price on swapping out tires on my vehicle and the employee I was talking to, his name was Dave, cut me off mid sentence to answer a phone call. I was okay with that at first. Instead of putting the call on hold to finish helping mDave continues on with his conversation, helping the person on the phone and totally ignored me like I wasn't even standing there. He even logged onto the computer to look up something for the person. All I wanted to know was if they would be able to do the work that day, so after four minutes of standing there I asked him while he was still on the call, and he sarcastically told me to ask another employee who just walked into the room. I couldn't believe the arrogance of this person, and his total lack of service towards a potential customer. Needless to say, I won't be going back there, especially when there are other tire centers within a 1/4 mile of that place, and cheaper too. Response to Tim's reply: No Tim, My review was honest. Dave was NOT on the phone when I walked in, he came out of the bay and greeted me. Play back your video, if you have any. When you walked in is when I interrupted Dave, because he left me standing there for four minutes. I really don't appreciate your inaccurate response and insinuating that I made something up. Saturday morning I got a flat tire and needed to get it fixed quickly since I take the highway for work. I went to this place bc it was close and they told me that they could get the tire ordered a day faster than the dealership. The owner was very short with me and very un informative, but the worse part was that that he did not want to honor my warrenty that I had with the car dealer. After some fight he fnally called the warrenty number so that I wouldnt have to drop off the tire at the dealership, but I still had to pay up front since I didnt tell him ahead of time that I had a warrenty. Considereing he barely gave me the time of day, I dont know when I would have had the chance to speak to him about it. This was a five minute job and he had my tire since early Saturday afternoon and didnt even look at it until noon on Monday. I even stopped in first thing Monday at 7am, but he told me he hadnt looked at it and he would call and that I could come by after I was done work. 171 suprising dollars later I had a new tire and warrenty paperwork to send in and I am never going back there. read more

I went to Havertown Tire for a simple oil change on February 8th. The two men who worked at the front desks were kind and chatty and we talked a little while I waited for my oil to be changed. When the oil change was done, the man at the desk showed me a list of things that he said needed to be done to my car. First, two radiator hoses were bowed and needed to be replaced, which, when accompanied by a cooling system service and a thermostat, came to $300. The serpentine belt was cracked, which he quoted me $150 to replace. Finally, he said that my transmission, power steering and brake fluids should be flushed, which would cost $390. The other man in the office made a joke when I said I wouldn't have the work done right now that I would have time for the work to be done if the hose exploded as I drove away. This was disconcerting as it seemed to me to be an attempt to make me afraid in order to pay them now to have the work done. I spoke with other people about this work, including a mechanic who I trust in Manayunk. Both people agreed that the radiator hoses and the belts needed to be replaced. They agreed that at some point I should have the transmission fluid flushed, but both said that the power steering fluids and brake fluids did not need to be flushed. Brake fluid only needs to be flushed, according to my mechanic, in new, expensive cars. My car is neither new, nor expensive. And power steering fluid does not need to be flushed. I think that these men were trying to encourage me to have unnecessary work done on my car, although in their defense, they ordered this work in terms of priority and put the unnecessary flushes as third priority. I am, however, very disappointed in my experience at Havertown Tire. read more

Although our Volvo was running perfectly fine, we wanted them to check a "Check transmission next service" message. They said they were Volvo certified. They are not. Three thousand dollars later, the message is still there and the car is stone cold dead in our driveway. They said there is nothing more they can do - and they were RUDE about it.
