I brought my car for a state inspection that was scheduled between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, but it wasn't finished until 1:30 PM the following day. To their credit, they did offer a complimentary Lyft ride home when it became clear the car would need to stay overnight. However, the free ride doesn't excuse the massive delay or the lack of transparency that followed. Over the phone, they quoted me around $2,872 for total repairs, including about $750 to replace the rear tires just to pass inspection. When I arrived and asked for an itemized printout of these prices, they handed me a poorly printed, hard-to-read document with all the costs listed as $0. When I asked them for a written breakdown of each required and recommended service, they told me the prices would only be made available if I agreed to purchase the services. Furthermore, their reason for failing my car was vague, simply stating "choppy rear tires". Trusting my gut, I declined the work and took my car to another shop, where it passed the state inspection with no issues. The front desk staff at Tires Etc. prioritizes phone calls over people actually in the store, making outgoing calls instead of helping the customers standing right in front of them. Went to get two tires repaired/replaced on my truck due to nails. Was told because I have two motors in my electric truck I had to replace all four tires. Like they didn't even try to make a good reason for charging me over $1000 dollars. Went to dealership and they repaired both tires for 1/10 of the cost this place wanted to charge me. Place is sketchy. Advertises good prices to get you in the door so they can try and get you in every which way possible over the coals. Unfortunately, I went in wanting new tires, front wheel brakes, and brake fluid flush and then walked out with a $2635 bill. The work done seems good but I would have preferred more transparency with a print out or email of the estimate of all work to be completed beforehand. In response to Tires etc response.... As a teacher, it is hard to find a quiet space to have a conversation between classes, and asked to have all of the services listed. I was prompt in my return phone call once school was done for the day. Additionally, not all the information was provided during the phone call that is on the final bill. When I went to pickup my vehicle, I brought my concerns of the additional work to the attention of Lisa who was helpful but did not reverse any charges at that time. Later that evening I posted my google review and sent away a direct complaint through your website. This seems to be a practice that your company does often (adding additional services without request or consent) according to other users reviews and I'm disappointed in your response as an owner. Ultimately, I still feel taken advantage of and unnecessary work was completed. And yes it comes down to the numbers and the $2635.43 bill. I could have easily been a customer for a long period of time if care had been taken; however, extra services were tacked on when my concern was the safety of my tires. Case in point -- I can aquire the air and cabin filters for my Mazda online for $26.88 and install them in about 15 minutes. Instead I was charged $211.67 for these filters with install. Something I did not plan to have and something that did not effect my safety of driving. Radiator and coolant flushes were also not necessary nor asked for during service. So when having such a a large expense, tacking on extra inflated services will always leave a bad taste in the customers mouth. What I would have preferred is a quote for the necessary safety work (tires and rear brakes) that I had first asked for with additional work quoted separately as non necessary work but advised to have done. First I'd like to say I only gave them a 2 star because the previous experience for getting new tires was great especially since they have a warranty and we went back with a bad nail in one tire which they gave us a whole new tire. Now this is supposedly right.... So this time our car wouldn't start it had two things flashing on the dashboard that said needed to be maintenance, after day of charging the battery on our own it cranked up. My husband took it to tires, etc., since we had a great experience before, but not so much this time. First off my husband arrived at 8:00 AM when they open the first one there they didn't take the car back until an hour and a half later. Once they took it back around 11:30 AM they told my husband that we need a new battery and a serpentine belt. My husband said OK. Does any of your inspections say that we need a sensor for one of our axles. Sidenote: last time we were there the guy said you're gonna need the sensor for your axle fixed within a year. It'll cost around $100. The front desk lady said no I'll have the mechanic check it out. An hour later my husband calls and tells me they're saying it's going to cost around $13-$1400 for the battery, serpentine belt, and axle sensor plus labor that is needed. We decided to just get the battery and the serpentine belt fixed even though they told us previously it would only cost us $100 for the axle sensor. 2 o'clock comes around the course is still not done. 3 o'clock my husband comes home with the car over $600 a battery and serpentine belt plus labor cost us. I look on the receipt. The labor is more than the actual parts significantly more and he sat there from 8 AM till 2:30 PM. We will never return to this place. Also receptionist lady, very rude to numerous people in there, and my husband said a lot of mechanics were just sitting around from what hecould see. Not a good look tires, etc..! read more

This location is in a perfect spot - Busy part of Baltimore pike. They have a nice comfy waiting area. Comfy chairs.. coffee and cold drinks. A nice large TV is there to kill the time. It's ok. I spent an hour before finding out my tire couldn't be repaired. Came back later for a new tire. I was then told I would be charged $8 to clean the corosion on my tire ?? I think on a $200+ tire that the $8 felt like a nickle and dime charge. Anyway the service was good and the tire arrive faster then anticiapted. read more

On Saturday, June 15, 2024 I was in need of tire repair. The right front was losing air due to a nail. Tires, Etc store manager Lisa Collazzo (Clifton Heights) was 1st class. She researched my initial purchase and knows showed that she knew the business top to bottom. In about an hour's time, the technician inserted a repair patch and rebalanced the tire. The Road Hazard covered the repair, no charge. They did not try to sell me a new tire like some of the competitor's. We the time comes and I need new tires, I'll be back there! read more

I always get my tires at Tires, Etc. I used to use the West Chester location but the Clifton Heights location is much closer to me. The quotes on the website are always more expensive then what the bill actually ends up being. The staff there is always nice, super polite, and happy to offer their expertise when it comes to choosing the right tire. The only thing to be aware of is that sometimes the wait times can be long if you're waiting for your vehicle. I drop mine off so it's never been a problem. Overall, I'm happy with Tires, Etc and will be using them for my tire needs for years to come. read more

DO NOT GO!!!!! As every other review I see states. DO NOT GO!!! THEY ARE A SCAM!! And worse! THEY ALMOST KILLED ME!!! I have a 2018 Lincoln that I purchased less than a year ago and has been kept in pristine condition. I go in for an inspection and they tell me I need $1700 OF REPAIRS! He tried to be like "I'm giving you a $100 discount"... THESE MF's (Excuse my language) UNSCREWED MY TIRE ROD THEMSELVES!! THEN LET ME LEAVE LIKE THAT!!! WITHOUT EVEN SCREWING THEM BACK IN WHICH IS AS EASY AS TURNING THE SCREW WITH UR HAND. MY TIRE ALMOST FELL OFF ON MY WAY TO ANOTHER AUTO SHOP! Ridiculous! The other auto shop immediately noticed everything was off with the estimate that Tires Etc. gave me and when they lifted my car up... he screwed in the unscrewed tire rod IN A SECOND! No charge!! BECAUSE HE JUST HAD TO TIGHTEN IT! I'm so mad because I almost DIED!! And on top of that got in another fender bender because it was either loose my tire and possibly total my car or bump another car. Calling the city about this place and also my state representative! Hoping an investigation will commence shortly! I'm also pretty convinced they changed my brake pads and replaced them with terribly rusted and worn out ones because again MY CAR IS PRETTY NEW! After spending almost 1000$ dollars of are hard earned money on tires for my wife's Acura MDX, in which I keep immaculate, my wife brings the car home after having the tires installed, I go to take a look at the tires, and all four rims a scuffed up, curb damage, and individual spokes, even had some red paint on paint on the clear coat on 2 of the rims, she picked the car up right before they closed last night, so I took the car in first thing this morning, I calmly asked for the manager told her what happened, and she nonchalantly sent an associate out to the parking lot to wipe my rims off with a rag........ not good enough, corporate, and the "BBB" are next........just can't get good service anymore read more

If I could give them zero stars, I would. I went there to replace a tire with a hole that couldn't be fixed and put on 2 new front tires. I also had my inspection done. I left with the wrong tire (with the hole) - STILL on my car. We actually had them check to make sure they did it correctly before we left the store, and they still gave the car back to me with the old tire with the slow leak. I went on a road trip to find the tire slowly leaking again. I returned to the Clifton Heights location to tell them they left the wrong tire on, and then for the SECOND time, I left without it being corrected even though they said they changed it. Yes, Again, they left the tire with the hole in it - on my car. Plain incompetence. I called the store and received no remorse or offer of compensation for the errors. "Just bring it in again." Third time's a charm? Eh? No thanks. I went to Goodyear, and they did the job for free - once. Sadly two months later, I had to have my windshield replaced from a crack, and the auto glass place did not return me my stickers but said it was their error and he'd pay any costs to have stickers replaced. Since I didn't have the stickers, PennDOT told me to return to the original location. I had my receipt- Tires etc has the record from 2 months ago with the files and the sticker numbers. I decided to go to the West Chester Tires etc, location so I could avoid the incompetent service workers. You would think tires etc. would do the reinspection for free since I literally just had it done with them, have the receipt with the sticker numbers and my auto glass receipt confirmation - and since I had to go back there repeatedly with all the trouble from the tires -- which they never actually did correctly. It's $40 - I would think my customer was worth more than that. Nope. Not only did they make me pay for a reinspection, but suddenly my car 2 months later won't pass emissions without $1k in repairs. While I can't hold them responsible for archaic Pennsylvania laws regarding registration stickers, I can say their work (tires) is awful, they have terrible customer service, aren't interested in helping their customers, and do not fix their mistakes (twice). I have to issue an addendum to my review. I have now been there three times and every time they have asked me to spend more money. As I said in this review they put me in a set of tires a few years back when I went only to purchase one but the car was relatively new for me and their logic about how the other tires were almost ready to be changed anyway and that would cause uneven wear on the new one made a lot of sense so I got all four. One other time I did an oil change with them and they tried to sell me something else - I forget what it was because I didn't do it and didn't need to - but wrote it off because places are always trying to get you to add something to an oil change. A few weeks ago my tires I bought at Tires, Etc. were done having got over 60,000 miles out of them. I researched and they came in with a very good price of about $335 for four General Altimax tires that had very good reviews and installation. The price was so good my trusted local mechanic told me that his cost would be more. Evidently they have to get people to do a lot of unnecessary repairs to pay for the cheap prices. They called me up and the store manager Lisa explained that her mechanic said that I had a broken sway bar link that would destroy my tire! She didn't want to put a tire on there! And it would cost over $400 to do this repair. I was never going to do this, especially since for something she said could happen any time was asymptomatic - the front tire was fine and I didn't have any of the other symptoms of a broken sway bar. So I told her to put three tires on and put the old tire with the best tread on and put the 4th tire in the trunk. Despite them only installing three tires my cost was the same. Before I was able to get it into my local mechanic I spoke with a regular where I work as a poker dealer who is a mechanic and he laughed. Said that having a Sway Bar puncture a tire is rare and that fixing a link would be like $100. Sure enough later in the week when I had time to take it to the local mechanic I trust (I won't mention their name here but I have a glowing review of his shop here that you can find if you look at my past reviews) and that was exactly the case: The tire would likely not have been threatened, the repair was $100. Unfortunately he had to charge me $32 to install the tire in my trunk so add that to the cost of it all without factoring in the week of stress in the odd chance her urgency was correct. The first set of tires I got were cheap but I got 60,000 miles out of them and had no problems. I don't have any problems with the new tires thus far and hope to get at least that many miles out of them (they have a warranty for more than that; yes, I know tire warranties are kind of useless, that's not why I brought it up, just that having them last that long wouldn't be an outlier). So I think this shop does good work and has excellent deals on name-brand tires that not a lot of people in the area can beat (my previous set were Firestone tires that were cheaper than even the local Firestone!), but they will try and gouge you for work which may or may not be necessary. They will even go so far as to make you endure extra costs and even try and terrify you into having them do that work. This will be the last time I go there. read more

When I went into the office to pay and handle paperwork, clerk said four hours. He told me it is two hours from the time it gets pulled into the garage. What was the point of an appointment? Priced against Mavis/Costco and a few others and they offered the best value, out the door for less then getting them on tirerack.com without install. $40 inspection is scam, they will waste your time and make you pay +$100. They come up with a made-up reason to say your car failed inspection (in my case a wiper blade that I am 100% sure it was ok because I checked it before coming to the shop) then you have to pay for either $44.99 reinspection (after you replace the wiper yourself) or part + labor, which is +$50 read more

Low Prices but at what cost? Originally took my car here for emissions/inspection. Was supposed to be $40. Left there spending $385 and it wasn't worth it. They told me my alignment needed to be done, my wipers needed to be replaced and that they would be giving my car a tune up due to high mileage. The wipers they put on are Trico Standard wipers which typically run $4-8 each. Thy charged me $20 each and the next time I was in rain, I didn't notice an improvement. I now know they only changed the passenger and rear wiper. The one that needed to be changed most, the DRIVER one, they left. Their "Tune Up" consisted only of changing my spark plugs. They installed NGK Iridium plugs which go for $6-8 each. They charged me $19 each ($76) They then charged $143 labor for putting in the plugs. The one concern I asked them to look at, my car is making a rattling that is directly connected to the engine and throttle (not sure what it is) they said they couldn't recreate. Just over a month after my "Passed" emission and inspection, my check engine light comes on. I took it to Auto Zone so I knew what it was. When I went back to Tires Etc hey said it would cost $70 just to check it before the cost of any repairs. I ended up purchasing my own ODB II scanner and seeing that the code for the light was cleared after I purchased the car. They are the only ones who have worked on it since the time of purchase and made no mention of any problems. They could have just said it's first come service when I called the day before. And then they tried to add all these extra repairs to my bill. SCAMMERS! AVOID GOING THERE! I brought my car here last year to get it inspected and they call me up and tell me all these things it needs in order to pass inspection. I made sure to ask if it will definitely fail if I dont get done what they said needs to be done and they told me yes. The price was really high so I told them I'd get everything done somewhere else because my friend is a mechanic and I'll only have to pay for the parts and he'll do it for me and when everything is done I'll bring it back to finish the inspection. They told me that if I do that it will cost me $30 to bring it back to finish the inspection and I said that was fine. When i went and picked up my car they magically passed it and i didn't have to get anything done in order to pass. Also my girlfriend went there a few weeks ago because she wanted new tires and they were the cheapest online we saw. We had to wait 4 hours there before they told us they dont have all 4 tires in stock and we'd have to come back the next day. The thing that really ticked me off now is while they were doing the tires I asked them to check her brakes because she heard a noise. They said they checked them and the front pads and rotors were very bad and needed to be replaced because they were at a dangerous level. We declined to do them there because once again i was going to have my friend do them. We havent gotten around to getting the breaks done yet but she brought her car to the Toyota Dealership yesterday to get her oil changed because shes still covered to get it done for free and they checked her brakes there and they were all good. The amount of mixed reviews for this place definitely surprises me. My experience was pretty great and I'll take a few moments to tell you about it. I called in on the last day of January for an inspection. The man who answered the phone told me that I could bring my car in that day. This establishment was originally recommended to me by co-workers. Everyone gave glowing reviews. I dropped my car off and a few hours later I got a call about some work that needed to be done to my car so that it could pass inspection. My car is just south of the 100,000 mile mark so to hear that I needed both struts and brakes did not surprise me. People on the street who I don't even know have told me how awful my brakes sounded. I agreed the work and they threw in an oil change. This sounds all well and good but the experience really kicked into high gear when I picked the car up. The service manager took me in the back and showed me the parts he removed from my car and why. He showed me what a new strut looked like, and how stiff it should be (for suspension). He then showed me the struts he removed from my car. Not only were they covered in oil (from being blown out) but they provided no support. Next, he showed me the brake pads that he changed out. They were passed the indicator mark, hence all the chirping. Lifetime warranty on the struts and the pads. He even told me how he specifically stocks those pads because they don't squeal or squeak. Finally, and this is the icing on the cake, he called the next day to see how my car was running and if I noticed a difference with the new struts and brakes. I honestly told him I did notice a real difference and I know that I'll be having more car service performed here. Stellar workmanship and a fantastic experience. This place knows what's up. read more
