The mechanic I went to for almost 30 years retired and I had to find another just like him -- fair and honest. Marty was recommended and I thought I would give him a try and am so glad I did. I found him to be extremely honest. He listens to what I have to say, takes care of it and a extremely reasonable price. After being with my first mechanic for as long as I was, I was initially worried that I could be told anything and I would not have any idea if it is right or wrong; however, Marty has never told me anything that I thought was outrageous. My car's front bumper and mirror had been demolished due to me sucking at parking years ago. Had to have an inspection done and needed to repair it upon moving back to PA. I got quotes all around for repairs, most were astronomical, but I was told to check Marty's out and got a good quote. The work was done quick, the car looked brand new, and it was wayyyyyyyy more affordable than Collision or other body shops in the area. Marty is a good dude, his employees are all chill and they were more than kind to me. I know someone said he's super conservative - I don't know Marty or his values or his worker's values, but I'm a trans dude, I suspect people probably didn't know, but I never felt like I was in danger or being treated differently despite having a lot of lgbt stickers and stuff on my car. It's a genuine concern whenever I go to shops, but typically if you don't mess with people, they won't mess with you, and no one here messed with me or treated me like anything other than a customer. I don't have like a "queer trans dude stamp of approval" to give out because everyone has different experiences, but I didn't run into any concerning behavior/treatment/etc. here. Called Marty's to come out had no power to the car my son removed the battery and replaced it with another one and left a nut loose . They charged $175.00 for evaluation and securing the nut 10 minutes labor at the most . This price is ridiculous , its more than a dealership charges on the HIGH end. I think $75 for his 10 minutes of time and fuel for the Van would have been sufficient. BUT thats just me , you think on it!!! read more

Marty has always gone out of his way to help. Even made a really long tow trip to pick up my bike after I was injured. Really helped me out on that one. I was very happy with this shop for years and I don't make many posts because I greatly dislike making complaints, but necessity and safety require that I speak up. This place was great and took care of me for many years, until approximately late 2016, early 2017 when things suddenly changed. Then more parts started breaking, more major systems needed sudden servicing, my evaporator system line was punctured with some sort of tool ruining my fuel economy from 18mpg to 9mpg, electrical lines started getting unplugged during the time my vehicle was there like forward facing lights, my main engine cooling fan, and sadly the list goes on... I just couldn't trust Marty's anymore even though his mechanics were knowledgeable and super nice to me whenever the mechanics and I saw each other. The only person who became hostile directly to me, was the owner himself. Unfortunately, Marty is an ultra-conservative with a thug type personality and according to another mechanic who I had double check the work done, my vehicle was sabotaged in his care. I did everything I could to maintain a friendly relationship with him and his shop, by going out of my way to do things like pay in cash for over four years, but when the life of my vehicle and subsequently my life as well were put on the line by these happenings, I had no choice but to go elsewhere and post about what I went through. If you like this shop, don't take my word for it. Pay attention, do your homework, and get deeply involved with your vehicle's healthcare, just as much as you are involved with your own healthcare. No one can ever gain too much knowledge about the people and things we trust. As always, be well and be careful everyone. I moved here from Portland,OR just over a year ago. In Portland I took my car to one shop because in all my years I've never taken my car in where I trusted what they said except for this one shop that I trusted enough. Coming to Philly I expected it would take me years to find someone I could trust. I had taken my car to AAA for an oil change and registration when I got here. It was a horrible experience. It took me over a month and a new engine to get done with them. They messed up and put in the new engine but it was a month of outgoing funds and weeks of follow up for reimbursement. When I left their service center for the last time I heard a sound in the wheel well. Since my experience was so rotten with AAA I decided not to go back to them but to have someone else look into it. I didn't care if it cost me in the end. Luckily I came across Marty's and took a chance. They are a rare breed of honesty, integrity, accommodation, and fairness. I took my car in and explained my situation. He took a look and in all fairness said we couldn't really blame AAA for the issue. So I didn't. The price was more than fair for the fix. I appreciated their honesty. I've taken it back 2 more times since then for minor noises that I thought might be indicative of bigger issues. With other mechanics they might make more of it than what it is or they could recommend fixes that aren't really required. Not Marty's. He's straight up with you and will tell you what it actually is, even if it means it was nothing much. I have full faith in them and highly recommend them. 5 stars for them! I recently stopped by Marty's to discuss a problem I was having with my wife's car. Marty was attentive to my concerns and gave me great feed back. He told me to bring her car in (just 3 days later) and that he'd have a look at it. Today, I dropped it off and had the "repair" done. I use the quotation marks because the problem I was having was with the breaks. Which, just 3 months before, were done at another mechanic shop. Being my wife's car I rarely drive it. Very recently was the 1st time I had driven it since they were done and I couldn't believe how horrible the felt already....it felt completely unsafe. Back to today's service. I dropped my car off at 8:00 AM and received a call at 11:30 that it was done and ready to go. When I arrived to pick it up, Marty had saved the old rotors to show me how bad they were. He had no explication as to how a mechanic just 3 months before did the breaks and DIDN'T replace the rotors at the same time. He said they were about as bad as he has ever seen. I think this shop has been around since the 80's so that's a lot of rotors to have been seen by Marty.. After I left I took it for a long road test and the breaks felt awesome! Marty exceeded my expectations today. The bill was very reasonable. My wife drives 35 miles each way to work. Almost all I-95 miles. High speed. Lots of sudden stops and so on. I'm very grateful to know that her breaks are safe! I met a few of Marty's mechanics today. They were very professional and explained in detail what they did. The overall atmosphere of his shop is very welcoming. I also met a few of his customers that have been using Marty's business for decades. They had nothing bad to say. Only good, positive feed back. I found Marty's via Yelp, and am so pleased with the service I received. The transmission went out on my daughter's Jeep and we were broken down on the highway. Marty put us in touch with a tow company who took the vehicle to the shop. The driver made sure we were safely in the Lyft before leaving us stranded. Marty was able to get the parts and fix the Jeep very quickly. He was fantastic with communication all the way. Just moved to the area and my car was making a rubbing sound I thought it was the back brakes they looked at it called me and told me the brakes where completely fine but said if I want they would find what it was. They called me back an hour later they call and said sir we have found what's wrong it was my hub assembly. Called Marty's about an oil change and inspection on a Thursday and he told me I could just swing by that Saturday morning and drop my car off. Pricing was reasonable and he's right around the corner from me so that was a bonus. I dropped it off around 9:30, hit the gym and got some coffee and got a call my car was ready to go (about an hour and a half later). Good character is hard to find these days, so it's really refreshing to find someone who is honest and also who is great at his job. Tom was awesome. He was straight with me about the damage, cost, and everything from the beginning. He went above and beyond. I didn't have rental coverage on my insurance, so he not only took me home and picked me up from my place, but he also prioritized my repair to minimize the time I didn't have a car. I was never left wondering when he was gonna call, or how long it was going to take. The car looks great, and I didn't pay a penny more than the estimate. Highly recommended! read more

Hello. Marty's place does seem like it has potential and i am only writing this from a first time customer. My wife brought in her car because it was stalling when she comes to a stop. We recently moved to the area and i searched around and found Marty's was the best around. I was saying awesome lets go here. So we receive a quote and was decently price for the amount of work that needed to be done so i cant complain on pricing. On that estimate though it included some work that was not done and we called back and was told that they can do that work just bring it by. Well if the work was not done and the car just started being normal why pay? The car still stalls on stops with the AC running. There is clacking sound coming from the vehicle, and to top it off the cover to my wife's engine is no longer there as if they took it to keep it. I wasn't to fond of the fact that we were diagnosed by a problem with a similar car that was not ours. The words used were "We have had [said vehicle] just in here with this problem." Please don't diagnose my car based off the assumption of another car.. do your work properly. I will grant them that Marty himself was not there but come on... You got the A/C correct but not the issue that we brought the car in for. We are just under 1k in 2 days for a new hopefully family mechanic but why will i pay more for a job not even completed and checked out properly. I have had my wife bring her vehicle back because i really want to have a firm go to mechanic but not if the job brought in to fix is not thoroughly fixed and check. Can we have our engine cover back. -.- Disappointed but hopeful. ***Update*** We got our engine cover back... About the extent of good news. Now we are quoted for a possible replacement of the throttle body. Cause you know... We paid to fix the stalling the first time and was told it was good.. but now quoted to fix the problem it was first brought in again for... Why would i pay now again for double labor and not even an offer for a discount.. Thank you for the advice of "drive it around it may fix itself" after we spend 900 here.. No thanks. I can't stress how awesome Marty and his staff are. Took my car in today for an inspection (yeah I know...procrastinator) full well knowing that I would probably need a few things, as well as an oil change and tire rotation. As usual, Marty personally called me and told me what was needed. I knew all of these things would need to be done but was hoping that maaaaybe I could bide some time to save a little more scratch. Alas, in the interest of safety, Marty said that the reckoning had come. The price for all of my repairs and services was so ridiculously fair that I couldn't balk for even a split second. After a check on my accounts, I have him the green light. He called me back not too long after and told me it was ready. I am so very grateful to no longer feel like I'm driving a death trap on wheels, and although my dad is a mechanic (he lives a little ways away from me) and I certainly could have had him fix my issues then taken it back to Marty and his crew, I would rather save the agg. Also, with people as great as the staff there, I have no problem parting with my sweet, sweet cash to support these guys. And rest assured, they do excellent work. I was driving from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia for vacation in July when my car broke down-I drive a Saturn, so I dread having to deal with repairs. AAA towed me to their shop, but they could not fix my car for 4 days, when I was leaving in 2. I saw the good reviews online and called Marty's. Marty's sent someone to get my car with only a phone call, took only a few hours to call me back with a quote, gave me a quote well below the quote from AAA, and had my car fixed within 24 hours. First I call with the code and ask for a quote mind you the car doesn't run the woman that answers the phone tells me they were"stung" too many times and they don't do that over the phone. I asked what their hourly rate for their mechanics were she refuses to tell me that either she said its against our policy too. She said you have to bring the car in to get looked at. This is after I explained the car is not running. Well we got the car towed there Marty looks at it and says it's the transmission after we told him it was the Cadillac converter and we had the code it was already hooked up on a machine! He still insisted the computer was wrong and the first thing to do was replace the transmission! Well we brought it to Honda clearly no one who works here knows what's going on. The "manager" the bitch who answered the phone even tried to steal $10 and said you got a wad a money give me some. We paid for our tow which was $45 gave them $55 she tried to keep the changw for herself. Ignorant and unprofessional! Careless people don't trust these greedy scoundrels! This is the last place you want to take your car to have it fixed. the vehicle you rely on to keep you and your family safe!
