I was so excited when UCLA Health came north to Santa Barbara to challenge a careless monopoly. I was blown away when I was given the option over the phone to make a new patient appointment later that same week--versus months down the road elsewhere. After making the appointment, I could fill out all of my medical history and paperwork via MyChart prior to my arrival to make things move along more efficiently. I also received multiple reminders via text and email. Unfortunately, as with every place providing medical care, I could tell they were sorely understaffed. I saw Dr. Dennis Hughes who brought me back to the exam room, went through my entire medical/surgical history and allergies, took my vital signs (including height and weight), and thoroughly performed a physical assessment all on his own! It was honestly a one-man show and outstanding! He listened to my concerns and needs, while making me feel heard and important. I came in to my appointment fasting with the hope to have my annual blood tests done. Sure enough, I conveniently had my blood drawn on site and Dr. Hughes made a video follow-up to go over my results. The facility is new so it was very clean, though appeared to have some growing pains. I wish them the best and look forward to my future care here.

It seems no doctors agree on treatment or medicines, serious diagnosis in my chart that are not mine and still not corrected. Today's referral, the office gave me an address in San Diego, then in Ventura and I found it in Oxnard but I wouldn't tell her her job! Maybe Shawn needs to check on the quality of her underlings and training they receive. Maybe someone should check on Shawn. The female couldn't pronounce the specialist field of practice either. I feel too old to change but looking for another practice. Definitely not recommended now.

She has a great bedside manner and has a good way of explaining what I ought to be doing for my health and why, while also understanding my personal limitations. We work together to get the best out of my treatment options and she always takes the time to listen to me. Once I had to wait so long to see her (for a scheduled appointment late in the afternoon) that I simply had to leave as I had another appointment I could not miss. I was told I should make appointments for earlier in the day, which isn't always an option for me. Other than sometimes having to wait quite a while for my appointment, I have nothing negative to say. The positives far outweigh the drawbacks and I'm also very grateful she was able to see me when I walked in earlier this week feeling ill. Since Ojai doesn't have a dedicated "urgent care" clinic Dr. Petroff tries to have availability each day for urgent care type issues. This is fantastic.

She's authentic, listens, considers me and is attentive to my needs. She is very accessible, and doesn't make me feel like I ask too many questions. I literally trust her with my life. I've been through three major surgeries: lower back, total hip replacement, and broken shoulder and a bunch of minor surgeries with her as my PCP. All of her medical assistants are amazing, even the manager jumps in to help. How could we clone Janet? Front staff are also very friendly and helpful. Ava is awesome & acupuncturist Amanda is AWESOME too!! I also enjoy some of their workshops:) The lab technicians are very profesional & friendly. I have two big, not so good concerns; telephone system but I found my way around it!! If they got their portal up, it would be so much more efficient. Fair experience with Podiatrist. Dr. Miller is the second issue, I have not had any fair nor good experiences with him. He requires patience and interpersonal skills training, horrible listener. How dare he think he knows my body better than I do. Send him back to the ICE AGE. They get an 9 on a scale of 1-10. Dr. Lin on the dental side of things is also pretty amazing. He is very attentive, patient, understanding, and cares. I had one (1) not very good dentist, I think she forgot patients may feel pain. My service animal reacted to my pain but all good, I have never been seen by her again. The medical dental staff are very friendly and understanding as well. Marbella, the manager is great & helpful but some of the front staff need training in friendliness. They also get a solid 8.75555. A smile goes a long way!!

He is proactive and stayed on top of not only my health but all the latest updates of health. Dr. Hermann never rushes you. He takes the time to find out what is going on with you. Billing dept mgr and scribe says my spouse has low back pain. He takes an occasional Advil after riding over 40 miles on his bicycle and up in the mountains at 76 yr old. Dr Williams asked me if I took calcium/D3. I have NEVER been D3 deficient and started taking calcium with D3 in it in when 50 years old as Dexa scan said a bit of osteopenia which has changed little in 25 years. We simply answered Dr Williams questions and I asked her to check my husband's hearing. The scribe and Billing Mgr will write in anything they can (true or not) to charge you extra! It was all routine exam, eyes, ear, throat heart, lung, and breast exam for me. No internal exams. We will be changing doctors asap and refuse to pay extra fees for routine exams and to answer questions. We are healthy, exercise, eat right, and NOT overweight. We reported them to Aetna FRAUD dept! I notified Dr Williams. She will be retiring in 2 years she told me. AVOID THIS GROUP with offices located in Ventura and Oxnard. This is the first time they started UPCHARGING despite going there for several years for our physicals/wellness visit!

I called several offices, in which 2 didn't have openings for months on out and or their receptionists just did not have good customer service. When I called to make an appointment with Identity Medical Group, I felt comfortable and the appointment date was within a month, so I decided to move forward and book the new patient exam. Dr. Robert (Bob) Dodge's office is located in the 5-story building across the street from Community Memorial Hospital in mid-town Ventura. There is a 3 story parking structure below the building that offers free parking. Dr. Dodge's office is located in unit 502. There's 2 doors then enter into the same building. So here we are on the day of my new patient exam, 2/29/15 @1000. I arrive at 0950 and sign onto a sheet. At the front desk sat, Rosie-one of the receptionist who didn't seem warm and welcoming. After about 10 minutes Nicole, registered me into the system and collected my co-pay. Within 5 minutes I was called back by Hannah, who I'm assuming is the MA, proceeded in taking my temp, weight and vitals-she also performed pre-appt questions to get a better gage for my visit. She then walked me to the exam room where I waited another 5-10 minutes for Dr. Dodge. My first impression of Dr. Dodge is that he is very warm-welcoming. He has great energy and displays true passionate, concern about your care. He actively listens as you voice your concerns and reiterates back to you. I like that he was consistent in asking if I had any questions, to make sure I understood his recommendations. The overall physical/assessment appointment was about 30 minutes, and then I was done. I would recommend Dr. Dodge to anyone looking for a new primary care physician. I'm happy to have finally found a primary care physician that actually cares and who is quite knowledgeable.
