Had the meatballs appetizer based on Grant the bartender's recommendation. Absolutely amazing! And right on point. It's in a little strip center. If you don't think it's much but then you walk in and you forget what's outside. Ordered the grouper and it was absolutely some of the best grouper I've ever had! Afrogatto for dessert was literally some of the best I've ever had. As a pilot who flies internationally on a regular basis, Timo hit it out of the park.! definitely be on my list when I come back to Miami. read more

All I can say is this place is a hidden gem. On a strip mall Tim exist. I was staying at the Marriott next-door and walked over. I was seated right away by Ryan, who was an amazing host Maitre . He offered suggestions on what to order and I listened. They were amazing dishes that I ordered. Chelsea, my server was so sweet always coming up to see if everything was OK with a smile. As it was Mother's Day, the Restaurant had a good amount of people going through. The decor is beautiful and the food was even more exceptional. So what did I have? I had the zuppa di pesce(flavorful in a red broth with clams and other seafood), the pepperoni pizza Paper thin dough/crust with a drizzle of honey and spices. Finally, my entrée was the grouper flaky with fennel olives in a white wine broth superb last I had the chocolate cake which was like a ganache and a pistachio mousse on top. Have not been here for several years and boy did I miss out. Food and service is very good... ambiance could be a little better but went on a weekday which explains that. The soups are very good as a whole as I tried mine (asparagus) and my partner had a been soup that was delicious as well. The cold cut plate was very good and well served. Had the branzino that was well made and the ribeye was of the best in town! The steak tartare was on the good side, nothing to write home about. We BYOB as usual and they DO have proper wine glasses, so didn't have to bring mine. All in all, will be back much more often..... cheers read more

Our second visit to Timo and it's just as wonderful as I remembered. Greeted by the host, Brian, our table was ready even though we were 20 minutes early for our reservation. We sat at a quaint table for two in the dining room which was busy and loud but not overwhelming. A great atmosphere that was cozy, yet energetic. Our server, Grant, greeted us with warmth and knowledge, shared the menu and specials of the evening. Our assistant servers, Javier and Josh, were equally warm and quite fun! Behold, quite frankly the BEST plant based Italian meal I have had to date. Served to me in a very upscale dining environment at @timorestaurant Timo Restaurant on 17624 Collins ave in #SunnyIsles Florida. From start to finish it's a very high end experience, with out the high end price tag, this 5 course meal, was $65 and was enough for 2 people. (3 of the 5 plates were split for ease of service) Not only was the environment a step above, the food was too, as each and every item was whole food, plant based and made from scratch, even the pasta. 1st course was a Beet Tartar, topped with golden beets, full of freshness and flavor. 2nd course was made to order tortellini with a parsnip puree filling that was creamier then any traditional or vegan cheese I have ever had, served with scallops made from mushrooms, that had an incredible consistency. 3rd course was hearts of palm ceviche, which was very refreshing and tasty. 4th course was home made vegan angel hair pasta with vegan meatballs made from butternut squash, zucchini and eggplant, served with the best red sauce I have ever had. 5th course was dessert, a home made coconut sorbet, served on top of a cantaloupe gazpacho and fresh fruit. Timo is a staple restaurant in Sunny Isles with a seasonal rotating plant based tasting menu. Sometimes it might have dairy, so call ahead and ask, and they will alter it to accommodate you. We had an absolutely lovely dinner this evening. We had a group of 7 and it can certainly be challenging finding a restaurant where everyone enjoys their meal, but thankfully, we found Timo! A few of our favorite items were: The seafood pasta with Calabrian chili - very delectable with perfectly prepared seafood and a close second was the flaky salmon with broccoli and gnocchi. We also had the lamb and goat cheese pizza, a margarita pizza, the gem lettuce salad with Cacio e pepe dressing (yum) and the pork osso bucco. Attended this restaurant on Valentines Day and it was packed to the brim with people when we arrived at 9:15pm. The place is located in a shopping plaza with barely any parking, I prefer something more upscale for a special occasion. Nonetheless, the interior is refined, modern, and intimate; a small space but we were accommodated quickly with seating next to the window. Due to the amount of people, it was loud at times and service was slightly slow. The waiters were funny irregardless and ensured all the patrons were happy. For food, we started with the black and white pizza, very decadent, covered in olive oil, truffles, and cheese. My entree was the lasagne that had short rib, flavorful and a hefty portion. My date picked the skirt steak which was cooked to perfection. To drink, I chose the limoncello martini but it came in a different glass, nothing special. Unfortunately, we should have left after the waiter spoke to us with an attitude when asking if we had a reservation, despite multiple open tables. He gave us the option to sit at the crowded bar or in a corner, so we chose to sit outside. Later, while standing at the table next to ours, he rudely asked if we could hear him because he didn't want to repeat himself as he explained the specials. We ordered a margarita pizza and fettuccini, requesting they come out together with plates to share. The pasta was flavorless, cold, and tasted like water with a hint of Alfredo sauce--the worst I've ever had. The pizza was cold but edible. The table lacked essentials like salt, pepper, or oil, and when we asked for parmesan, it arrived with a server's finger in the cheese and more bad attitude. This place offers poor service, bland food, no attention to detail, and is overpriced. I wouldn't return. read more

Food was excellent, we have been twice in three days and has not disappointed. Everything is fresh and made from scratch. We got seafood pasta dishes the first time, both excellent. We got two pizza at the bar on New Year's Eve, the regular cheese and the white truffle and Dave Portnoy would have given high marks. Grant and Olga the bartenders were excellent and I would highly suggest everyone stop by and see them and enjoy the food and drink there. The summary of my experience here would really be two fold--a quality of menu selections normally associated with a more pretentious atmosphere combined with an owner that really cares about service. This combination made for a wonderful night of food and conversation. I had a chance to add some new Italian craft beers to my belt and for the food we shared some appetizers to start and then sampled a few entrées around the table though I was not giving up the bulk of the foie gras ravioli that was on special which I had for my main meal. The CARBONARA PIZZA WITH HOUSE CURED PANCETTA, BECHAMEL & CARAMELIZED ONIONS was truly outstanding. I tried the MEZZI RIGATONI CARBONARA WITH SPINACH, PEAS, PANCETTA, BLACK PEPPER AND POACHED FARM EGG which was excellent but the ravioli special I had along with another pasta special were a notch better. Though there was dessert at the table I passed on having any and also ended up taking half of my ravioli home to enjoy the next day. As a side note there is parking in the back which might be the best place to try first before going through the limited spaces in front and then having to circle around if there is nothing open. read more

I've always been pleased. It's tucked into a mini strip mall on Colins Avenue's west side. You would think with all of the multi million condos in the area there would be lots of fine dining options, the reality is most of the dining in the area is average at best. Timo is better than average. and it's 17 year tenure proves it. First of all you get a talented Chef. Most students who graduate from the top cooking school in the US, and top of their class, like Tim Antriola of Timo, want to work in Michelin Star restaurants and then try to open their own. Most of your local restaurants have Chefs who come and go and your Italian cooking it done by someone who never went to cooking school, let alone who ever worked in or even visited Italy. Tim, who had an Italian grandfather and a father in the restaurant business spent a summer working in Rome before stints with top South Florida Chef's of the past like Allen Susser, where he spent 7 years running Chef Allen's kitchen and 3 years working for Mark Milatello at Mark's South Beach before partnering with fellow FIU School of Hospitality Management graduate Rodrigo Martinez to open Timo in 2004. He also has a Bachelor's and Masters from the FIU School of Hospitality Management in addition to his CIA credentials, and has won a number of awards. Tonight was actually our second dinner, yea we eat a lot, we had an earlier dinner at 5 pm before an event and by 9:30 were a little hungry again. At 9:30 on Saturday evening I has happy for Timo's to have a full house but we managed to get a table to two. I would highly recommend reservations on weekends. Since we already ate we decided to eat "lite" tonight. We had the Beef Carpaccio with Marinated King Oyster Mushrooms and shaved Piave Cheese, very tasty with a kind of honey mustard sauce with the usual Arugula. Be sure to ask about specials, there are usually a number of great specials in addition to the regular menu. We saw some clams and mussels floating around the restaurant which come with one of the entree fish specials and asked if we could have some clams as an appetizer dish. The servers at Timo are always so accommodating that they put together a plate of clams sautéed in wine wine and garlic for us, a nice lite dish, and served with a delicious slice of parmigiana reggiano crusted bread. We let our eyes get ahead of our stomachs and should not have ordered anything else, remember we had already eaten, but we love the Bucatini with Lobster, and it did not disappoint. The delicious creamy carbonara dish with fresh Maine lobster was worth the extra pounds, and we slept well that night. Timo's has an interested and eclectic wine list and connoisseurs with wine cellars are allowed to bring their own wine for $25 per bottle (no box wine please), if you order one of their bottles they will even waive the corkage on one of yours. I was bullied and attacked by the manager. What a terrible service!!! We didn't get the food on time, everyone get their food on a different time. We order a seafood pasta that was extremely spicy and we just want to tell the chef that it was like this and the server, Carlos and the manager didn't take our feedback in a good way, they were very rude, they told us a lot times that we didn't have de reason and at the end he hit the table very hard. I was in town with a few people when we found this restaurant fairly close to where we were staying in Sunny Isles. The ambience was great and the waiters were super attentive. The first things that came out were the various breads and I'd have to say the Parmesan-flavored flatbread/breadstick-of-sorts was the BEST. For my main, I picked the cavatelli with lobster because I'm a sucker for any crustacean swimming in pasta. The service was pretty quick and the cozy round-table seating made for some wonderful conversation prior to our dishes arriving. Once my dish arrived, I loved that the pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce wasn't too rich or too abundant - so the lobster wasn't overpowered at all. The portion size was pretty large so I actually had plenty leftovers to take with me. Highly recommend this place! We were recommended to come to this place by multiple people so we decided to give it a shot. The atmosphere was really nice and the staff were really accommodating. We ordered an appetizer and two meals. All I can say is we were very disappointed the food was all microwaved. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone that know actually knows Italian food it's not worth the money. The drinks were good but when you pay over 200$! For two people you expect great fresh food and this isn't it. I was very disappointed that so many people made this a recommendation. To be fair I'm born and raised in the North end in Boston we are known for our Italian cuisine.
