Basic but cute. In an alley but safe. In Paris, but not what your average American thinks of as Paris: i.e, the Eiffel Tower.
Great location if you want to save money but also be fairly close to everything. It's a five minute walk to the nearest train station (Gare de l'Est) which will get you anywhere you need to go and is fairly easy to figure out. Paris is definitely a walking city though, so don't be shocked when you get off the train and still walk a few miles to your destination.
The hotel itself had everything you would need--towels, mini shampoo, a comfy bed, friendly staff, etc. The shower was a bit weird, we really couldn't figure out how to shower without getting water everywhere, but that's not exactly a deal breaker.
Our room was at the end of the hallway on the third floor and was straight up creepy at night--maybe they were doing renovations or something but it was completely black. We fumbled down the hallway and somehow managed to get our key in before getting murdered in the darkness, thankfully. So, either get a well lit floor or only come and go during daylight. Or get killed in the hallway, hostel style.
Also, the whole hotel is quite small and cramped feeling. The hallways are narrow and you better be good friends with or related to the people you're sharing the elevator with.
Onto a more pleasant note, their breakfast buffet was AMAZING! When travelling, my stingy ass depends on those continental breakfasts to get me through the day and Timhotel delivered. Not only was there a ton of food, but they had so many options!
Overall, it's a solid little hotel. You get what you pay for and if you're there to see Paris and not dwell on how luxurious your hotel is, this place is perfect. read more
