I would suggest that you go elsewhere for watch repair unless you just need a change of battery. My movement was replaced, stopped working within 3-4 weeks, and he would not stand behind his product, insisting it was my fault (the stem came out repeatedly). I own at least a dozen watches, and have never had a stem pull out before so I have a hard time believing this my fault. He would not even consider replacing the movement with a new one at a discounted rate. "Why should I? " he said. Poor customer service in my book. Go to Vladamir on Lake Murray Blvd. He's the real deal and is replacing my movement for $45 instead of the $110 I was charged at The Time Zone. read more

The guy was very rude. I said, "this is my first nice watch" a swiss legend and I love it. I needed to get the band re sized, and his response was "this is not a nice watch" and was serious. You don't treat a paying customer like that. To top it off, he was unable to adjust the links..... His 6 years of watch school really helped huh? I visited the Grossmont location to find out how much a clock repair would cost. The estimate started at very expensive and went higher according if parts were required. I thought the guy was a pompous ass. When asked how long the turn around was....the reply was "as long as it takes...it could be months". My impression was SHYSTER. The sign on the door says "Watch Batteries $14.99" The guy behind the desk says my watch needs a thinner battery which is more expensive (never been told that and I've had the watch for years) After he changes the battery he is clearly struggling to put it back together and snaps it together with the rubber gasket hanging out the side. He takes it apart again and bends over and put his hands under the desk where I can't see them and snaps it back together. I ask if the gasket is in there and he says yes. He notices the stem isn't turning properly and opens the watch again - I tell him the gasket is missing. So he bends down, picks up the broken gasket off the floor and tries to put it back in my watch. He clearly lied about the gasket being in the watch when he put it together. I will NOT be returning here again. read more

I have been going to this store for over 15 years now and laugh at the false negitive reviews. This place is very well established with customers from all back grounds. Super rude from the moment I walked in plus, way over-charges. Spent $$$ to have my Cartier serviced here and the stem was broken off when I came back to pick it up! Huge hassle and arguing to get them to fix it, and another to get them to agree to not charge me for *their* mistake! deserves "0" zero stars I paid for a new watch battery, here, at Time Zone and, in less than a month, my watch started to lose time. When I took it back to Time Zone, the guy there (supposedly) ran a check on the battery and said that it was "fine." And, he implied that it was the watch that was bad. Well, my instincts told me that he was handing me a line. So, I immediately took the watch to a trusted & reputable jeweler in La Mesa. And, after they checked the watch, I was told that the battery was actually low, which accounted for the lose of time... and, they added that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the watch. So, if you buy from Time Zone, just be aware that... they won't give refunds... and, only give 10 days after purchase to exchange one lousy product... for probably another lousy product. And, have a very limited knowledge of watches. read more

Highly unsatisfied doesn't quite fit how I felt about my encounter with this business. I took a vintage Bulova watch in to be refurbished. This was my Grandmother's and Mother's watch and I wanted to have it refurbished to give to my daughters. I was assured that it would be beautiful, all I had to do was pay in full up front. RED FLAG!! He said it would take at least thirty days. I called after almost sixty to get the status. The clerk said " I think it's done". I went to pick it up and found that they had ruined the band when they polished the case. I refused pickup so I could speak to the owner. I had no idea what a special treat this would be. When I called the owner he said he wasn't informed about that problem and that's why he didn't phone me. He then proceeded to call me a liar and tell me I just wanted something for free. I told him he just didn't give a shit about it because he had already been paid in full. He then told me he was going to teach me a lesson in humility by ripping out all the pieces he put into my watch. I agreed as long as he put it back the way it was. He closed the conversation by saying he would throw my watch in the trash if I didn't pick it up that day by 7 pm and then hung up on me. I contacted the police to see what recourse I could take if he destroyed my heirloom. Please don't take and sentimental precious pieces to this business!! I would use a negative if I could. I went in last week end to get links taken put of a watch. I told him I had a Michelle Deco Dimaond watch. I had told him my jewler had changed the battery for very inexpensive and he started to explain that my jewler might of ruined my watch. And then told me I would probably have to send to michelle and spend all this money to have it fixed and that he didn't want to touch it in case it was ruined. I was so scared. I worried about it all week. I have several Michelle watches and have taken them to different places to have the batteries changed. Usually 30 to 40 dollars. I have many friends who have Michelle watches as well. So I let them all know about this guy and thought he was totally the guy. His name was Micheal. Seemed very knowledgeable. I took my watch in today to get the battery changed. He started to tell me that I would need to bring in some time to get it serviced He said it would run around 200.00, but no hurry. He said to change the battery on a Michelle watch it must be pressurized and mine needed to be oiled. I watched him replace the battery and do some kind of oiling and I guess he pressurized it. The total bill came to 68.75. I then asked if that was for the battery every time or for the extras. He said for just the battery every time. I had to run home and get a credit card because I didn't have enough money on me, was on way to beach and did not excpect it to be that high. I came back and paid. I asked him If all my Michelle watches were going to cost that and he said yes. I said I was really surprised that you spend that kind of money and have to keep spending so much money to keep it up. I know when you own a expensive car the parts are more ect. But come on now 70. Verses 40. Like Judge Judy always says, ' If it doesn't make sense it isn't true! ' I went home and it was bothering me so I called Michelle , the maker of my watch. I simply asked how much to send my watch to them and have the battery changed ...23.00. And asked if I had to pay 200.00 every couple years to have it serviced, he said no. You can send in to have serviced sometimes but he said it's not required to do. I felt so taken! I called the Time Zone and told him what I found out, he said bring it back and he would refund my money. NOW THIS IS WHAT REALLY PISSED ME AND MY HUSBAND OFF. HE TOOK THE BATTERY OUT THEN DE OILED IT, REALLY , DE OILED IT...HE TOOK A LITTLE SPONGE AND TOOK BACK THE OIL HE HAD PUT IN. THEN WENT TO A MACHINE AND TOLD ME HE WAS DEPRESSURIZING MY WATCH. WHAT A BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE. YOU PEOPLE WHO LIKE HIM AND GAVE HIM HIGH SCORES JUST MUST BE GULABLE AND HAVE MONEY TO THROW AWAY! Do your research people. Bought a new watch band here in September. Three weeks after purchase, I noticed the band had split and would soon tear completely through. Went back to the Grossmont Center shop, asked for a replacement. The same person who sold me the band informed me that they do not carry those bands and never have. From my experience, these people are incompetent, dishonest, and - unpleasant! They overcharged for my antique wall clock repair, replacing the works with a cheap battery mechanism (I could have bought it at Michael's for just a few $$!) at more than $120.00. They also replaced the pendulum with one that was unattractive and DID NOT WORK. I returned the clock several times, since it was not, in fact, "repaired." They said it wasn't their problem: they said "it ran when it was in their shop"! When I responded that I had paid to have it run in my home, also, and finally, to give me a refund, they said they had "done the work," and refused to make it good. The clock is exactly as it was when I first took it to them; it's still not working, and I'm out a lot of time, trouble, and $$. I think they don't know what they're doing. Avoid them!! read more

I wish I had read the reviews before going to Time Zone. I also wish there were negative stars. I have a nice Omega watch that has had its battery changed 2 or 3 times, at a price of around $20, since I've owned it. The La Mesa jeweler from whom I purchased the watch is no longer in business. Searching for a jeweler who works on Omega watches, I found Time Zone. The unshaven grumpy guy who waited on me opened the back of my precious watch with his pocket knife. The price of the new battery would be $59.95 plus tax. I was shocked. Then he told me my watch needed service at a cost of $225. He said, "It's an expensive watch. Expensive watches need to be serviced." He said, "An expensive Mercedes needs to be serviced to make it last." He said if he serviced the watch the battery would be included. I asked if that would be the case if I brought the watch back in a week. He said, "No, just the service would be $225." I am sooo glad I didn't trust him to work on my watch beyond replacing the battery! Hopefully he didn't damage something doing that.
