To say that this was this was the most horrible customer service I've ever encountered would be sugar coating it!! It's unfathomable that the Grossmont center would allow such a person to have a business in my community, I was treated in the most disgusting way possible, racial epithets were used towards my person, and the threat of physical violence was implied! I went to inquire about a watch, at first the owner was very polite but because I wasn't willing to spend in his price range, he asked me to leave his store and go shop at Walmart, I stood there dumbfounded trying to make sense of what I just heard He didn't just tell me, he yelled it at me! He told me he only sold fine watches and I was looking to spend so little, I should patronize Walmart. I asked him what the problem was? He said he didn't have time for sensitive wetback assholes like myself. He even followed me out the door in a menacing fashion yelling at me, from my peripheral vision he was brandishing a screwdriver. Not recommended! I came in for an estimate to repair my schoolhouse clock. The proprietor said he was the only person in east county qualified to fix these. After sticking his hand inside very briefly, he said it was broken and would be $650 to fix. It would take 4-6 weeks to repair and he required advanced payment. Luckily I got a second opinion and was told it just needed an ultrasonic cleaning, would cost $180, and be ready the next week. Done! The clock is fixed and working well. read more

We had a clock that needed a simple repair and no sooner did we walk into the business than the owner barked out an exorbitant price for the repair, without even giving us a chance to tell him what was wrong. He said it would be a week to get it fixed. When we looked at each other for a moment to decide on going ahead he immediately blew us off and went to a customer who had just walked in. He was as rude and arrogant as any businessperson I've ever dealt with. We left and went to Time and Treaures on nearby La Mesa Blvd and got our clock fixed on the spot in ten minutes for half the price. The Time Zone owner wanted to replace the whole movement, which turned out to not even be the problem. If you've got a fancy watch Amador might do a good job, but don't "waste his time" if you just need a battery replaced on an inexpensive watch. After he replaced mine the watch still didn't work (I should have checked but didn't, my bad). When I explained that to him, he was rude and dismissive and basically said that's what I should expect from an inexpensive watch; that it would happen to stop working immediately after the battery was replaced. I absolutely don't mind paying extra for a knowledgeable professional and quality service. However, service includes the interaction with customers and my interaction with this business owner (?) was far from pleasant. In the 5-10 minutes I interacted with this business owner (?), he appeared angry and not approachable. He made what sounded like politically charged statements, specifically regarding "illegals" who are entering California. Politics aside, it was totally unprofessional. Based off other (more relevant) things he said to me about his job, I am assuming that he is knowledge and did a "good" job of replacing my watch battery (which is why I gave 2 stars and not 1). Overall though, even if the job was done correctly, I will not be returning as a customer. read more

At a loss for words. Was told my Rolex had a Catastrophic malfunction. Quoted over 4000.00. Please bare in mind the watch was never taken apart and properly inspected. The owner of time zone handled it and quoted this. Either the owner made an honest mistake or is dishonest. I must report that MICHAEL took such good care of me. The entire inner workings of my lovely grandmother's Longines gold watch had disintegrated due to disuse. I walked into an empty store this morning. A bald gentleman asked what he could do for me. I said I replace the battery on my wife's watch, but I couldn't get the watch band to reconnect. He told me I had to take it downtown to the Reymond Weil factory authorized repair facility. And he said they'd want $150 to reconnect the watch band. I asked him why he couldn't reconnect the band. He said, "I don't work on watches that have been butchered". Someone needs a refresher on how to communicate with customers. So I went to Fast Fix Watch Repair in Parkway Plaza and they took 15 minutes and $25 to reconnect the watch band. read more

Call ahead if you want a battery replaced in any watch worth more than $50 to make sure their certified guy will be in. I brought in my Cartier watch which hadn't been serviced in 20 years, amazingly it was still in great shape, though needed a good cleaning and a new battery. I was thrilled to find a Cartier certified repair facility nearby! Fees for the service and needed repairs were explained and my watch was serviced quickly. Reading some of reviews made me laugh a little. The owner is quirky, but he knows watches. The Time Zone was recommended to me by two friends and it did not disappoint. My go-to watch place for years suddenly turned negative. I went in for a simple battery replacement. Then he said my watch band was broken and needed replacement. (It wasn't broken when I went in the store.) And he said don't ever use this kind of closure. (I like that kind of closure and see not reason for him to advise me.) Naturally he had a selection of bands priced well above market. The usual $20 battery replacement cost jumped to $70. While waiting for the fix I got yelled at for touching an older clock on display to be sold. "DON'T TOUCH THAT!!" He said "I spend months restoring it." OK, fine but no need to yell rather than "let me help you look at those clocks, they are very delicate" or some such. His attitude was abrupt and disagreeable. We all have rough days but this seemed to be his normal approach to customers. Intimidation must keep him in business. His poor rating on Yelp is well earned. I recently visited the Time Zone, in Grossmont Center, a fabulous watch repair, sales and a shop for "all things related to timepieces" and had the most amazing experience. I took in 10 watches that needed batteries and asked how long it would take, Michael said, "Do you have 5 minutes?" He literally replaced the batteries in all of those watches in about that amount of time. He was personable while he worked on my watches. Then my daughter can went to pick it up for me again and they said only I could pick it up. Spoke to the gentleman on the phone while she was there and he refused to give it to her. Return for a third time and the gentleman in the store spoke to the manager by phone but still did not give me my watch and called mall security so that I would leave the store! On March 25, 2022 I walked into Time Zone, Grossmont Mall, La Mesa, to get a new battery for a simple watch. The charge was $20, with no issues. On April 18, 2022 I returned to the same shop with the same watch that no longer worked. I said to the owner that I found it strange that a new watch battery only lasted less than a month. He raised his voice and became quite defensive and said something like it wasn't the battery, but perhaps the motor in the watch. He removed the back of the watch and removed the battery. He put it on some sort of machine and then declared that the battery was strong, that it probably was the motor in the watch because the second hand was going back and forth. He said he could replace the motor, if needed, but repeated that the battery was good. I gathered my watch and left. I went to a jewelry store in the same mall. I repeated what had happened to me at Time Zone and he said he wasn't surprised, because a lot of people had complained to him in the past about the lack of service and reliability of workmanship of Time Zone. He opened the watch, took a look at the battery and said that that particular battery was no longer used by him, or most good jewelers, because they were inexpensive and not that strong. He took out a new battery and placed it on a battery meter where we could see the difference of both batteries. Obviously, the Time Zone battery was not in the strong category. I paid $10. and left the store. I will never step foot in Time Zone again. The owner is a liar and a thief and clearly has no shame, morals or values. read more

I needed a new battery for my Daniel Wellington watch, nothing special or complicated. The watch repair shop I used to go to has been closed, so the next nearest place I decided to try was Time Zone. It's a really nicely kept store, and I was greeted kindly as soon as I walked in. I believe it was the owner Michael that helped me and he immediately began working on the watch as soon as I handed it to him. He had no problem answering questions and making small talk, a pleasant man! I was in and out in five minutes and even more to my surprise, the cost to replace the battery was nowhere near as costly as I've paid in the past; very affordable. not recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i i went in for a battery and was told i needed a 3 yr check up on my movado watch . he chargee me $286. for that and also for the battery $69.00 you think that would be included in a maintenance repair. so i said ok .he told me it would be done in a week and he would call me when he was done .i never received a call from him , so i went in to see if it was ready for pick up, also told him he over charged me on my bill by $96. 00 he blamed some one else in the store for that, but he was the one who had helped me in the begining .. don't use him also charged me $25.00 for a $5.00 battery. for a cheap kids watch. not very happy with his service... read more

Simple battery changes for granny's watch are quick for any employee .their watch maker is factory trained for all the big brands he is there short hours in the week .
