I really enjoyed my first visit to time out market . I have walked past it several times on my way to Trader Joe's and finally gave it a try. Upon entering I was excited to see Jase barbecue. I heard of this viral restaurant via Smorgasburg and Jase was always hard to track down. I attended smorgasburg Jase and they would not be there on the day I attended. Anyway I digress I ordered the jerk ribs Mac and cheese. The bar at the entrance has a happy hour from 4pm - 7pm. I ordered a rum punch to go $10 with my meal. I loved the large televisions that broadcasting the US open. By the way my second cocktail was a honey deuce $13 served in an official US open glass that I got to keep. I finished that cocktail on the terrace. It was a nice lovely evening away from the crowds of union square. I can't wait to come back. Oh there's a server that goes table to table taking drink orders. Food can be ordered at each kiosk or one can scan a QR code and the server can bring it to you. I happened upon the Time Out Market heading through the East Village. What a great surprise as I've read about it but am usually not in the area. Figured I'd check it out for dinner since they showcase so many good eats. The space operates just like a Food Hall where there are a variety of food stalls to purchase from and you sit in a general seating area (center of the indoor space). Some outdoor seating but it is not covered. I spotted a French bistro and bar, BBQ, Thai, Vegan and burgers' spot just to make a few. Each stall offering unique food options and independent of one another so there's no competition. Something for everyone. Really well maintained, tables are frequently cleaned and each place offers a buzzer so you're alerted when the food is ready. There's even a photo booth and a backyard type garden space once you get to the back of the space. That outdoor oasis is great for groups, not covered (no roof, just open seating) but offers mood lighting and bright decor. Music plays overhead in both spaces, on speakers and there are several TV's featuring sports channels and food videos inside the hall. This visit I tried the BBQ stall (think smokey brisket and mac and cheese) and hubby got Thai food (Pad Thai with shrimp). Both were great choices and reasonably priced overall. Daily lunch specials throughout at $14 a pop, per the advertisement on the front door area. Casual chic is how I would describe the place. Great air conditioning and great for groups of all sizes. High top seating, standard tables and booths available. Very comfortable and a nice foodie spot overall. We were never rushed and I saw folks just enjoying a night out. Totally recommend. read more

They are still trying to gain momentum and regular traffic... during some of my visits during peak times they could have been busier. Came out for dinner and decided to have food from Rotisserie Haus. It was a small portion but the food tasted absolutely delicious. The chicken was juicy, tender on the inside and packed full of flavor. Brussel sprouts were well cooked and tasted a good and those mashed potatoes were exquisite. read more

I have been here three times, sorry for the delayed review! Most recent was about a week ago. I have also stopped by once to grab coffee to go. Time Out Market Union Square features seven kitchens, a bar and a stage - there are communal tables and approximately 300 seats, with around 70 of them on the terrace for outdoor dining. Download the Time Out Market Union Square app! I earned some great discounts, including one for my birthday! You can order from multiple restaurants from there and even give your table number for delivery. Conveniently located near Union Square trains. I really like the variation of vendors (though at least one has changed since my previous visit.) Plenty of delicious food options that could cater to a variety of dietary restrictions/preferences, including vegetarian and gluten-free options. It it a large bright space with plenty of seating, including at the bar. My most recent visit was the first time seeing/using the large outdoor area. My bartender Xavier and our server Mario are wonderful! Most recent visit was with a large group and we were able to get two tables in the back terrace on a lovely evening before happy hour was over. This visit we shared some pizzas from Fornino and I also ordered separately from Kebabwala. I also had a couple happy hour spritzes. Visited at opening time so all the other outpost restaurants weren't open yet. The main bar area is open early as they serve café drinks and breakfast pastries . I ordered at the counter. Service was quick and staff friendly. I stayed as it was pouring outside. There were a few other customers enjoying the quiet space. They have qr codes on the table and you can order directly from that (it notes your table number). Very convenient , beats a crowded queue at lunch or dinner time. Lots of seating and there's even a small outdoor (uncovered) space with additional seating . There are more seats than the previous dining hall that occupied the space . Newly open food court by Union square. It was urban space before. The whole place is renovated with beer house theme. It a darker wooden tone. Very buzzing and lots of people. They have booths, regular tables and high tables. Also outdoor seatings are available. The market has a link for putting orders online first, not all the restaurants are online yet (https://timeoutunionsquare.5loyalty.com/pick-up-at-counter). You can also grab a table then order by the link/QR code. You can choose to pick up the food or someone will bring it to you. Service crew members are constantly walking around to clean and deliver food. Nice setup. However, those restaurants are more on the expensive side. This is a great addition to Union Square, but there are still some kinks that need to be sorted out for this to be a successful venue. 1) The online ordering system was a bit more complicated than needed - a group of us that are tech-savvy took a few tries to complete the order, some just gave up and ordered in person. Also, if it is your first time, look for the $5 off code somewhere. 2) Wait time for food delivery was too long, and this was all before the place got crowded. 3) Cocktail order arrived after food - apparently there was only one bartender working there on a Saturday noon time. 4) You can't switch between pick up and delivery once the selection is made (would require to start from the beginning), so select wisely! read more

Came here for dinner with a friend and it was suspiciously quiet! No lines, open tables, downright breezy! We decided to family style a handful of dishes, all of which felt generous in portion but still mildly overpriced (to be expected from Time Out Market...). The pad Thai was lovely, they give you a whole bucket of it practically. Also tried the chorizo, mushroom and trompo al pastor tacos -- all of which were stand out, bursting with flavor (and in some cases bursting through the tortilla). The true stand out was Lori Jayne's steak frites though. A gorgeously cooked hunk of beef, sliced, slathered with an eye opening miso Chimichurri sauce and served over a mess of thin cut and perfectly crisp French fries. Hoo boy! My only regret is we were too full to finish all of the fries. All in all, some above average food in a totally average cafeteria. I do wish all of this stuff cost like $4 cheaper than it is, considering the total lack of ambiance, but whatever. Everything was clean at least. read more

Watching soccer at the Time Out Market Union Square was a different experience from Ollie Ollie. There were so many people here and as there were 4 screens everyone could see the game nicely. This was the first time that I got a table where I kept a seat for Helga where she too had a good view. We watched Switzerland vs Columbia which went into penalty shootout. As Smashed had opened here I ate a tasty single cheeseburger and the sweet potato fries. Both the burger and fries were scrumptious! I ate every crumb from the box. Helga also noted that the fries were superb. In fact I dreamed about those fries for a few weeks! Service at TOMUS is nice as servers brought customers orders and took away plates. I asked for a cup of ice for my water. Bathroom boxes are on receipts but it's easy to get the code from people who work here. While I enjoyed the game here I think because of the huge crowd we both missed Ollie Ollie Market. Both of us also had a delicious hot cappuccino from Cafe d'Avignon where Stephanie and José work. I was completely underwhelmed by the options at the Urbanspace Vanderbilt that occupied this space for several years but was excited was Time Out Market took over, because they're known for curating much better vendors. Of note here are Kebalawala from the Unapologetic Foods group that owns Semma, Adda, Dhamaka, and Masalawala. Kam Rai Thai, known for their crab fried rice, Fornino's pizza, and Patty Palace for Jamaican patties. I went with a chicken birayni from Kebalawala, which was served in a biodegradable takeout bowl but with a thin layer of dough baked on top of the rice, which kept the saffron rice underneath from getting too dry. While not the explosion of flavors I'm used to at the likes of their other restaurants, for $16 this was a decent quick bite. The space is modern and clean, with so much seating across the space. There are outlets and a full bar at the center, so this would be great for a casual group hang out. It's never been crowded the times I've dropped by on weekends, so you can easily gather a big group and find seating. read more

This a cool little spot. Plug in charge up and get some work done. Free football table available. I met my aunt today for lunch we dined at kham thai, we ordered spring rolls shrimp pad thai no peanuts and no eggs. It was good just more saucy then I recall. I went to smashed express and got the single smash box meal pretty good deal for 18 burger cup of fried and a drink. I chose the classic glass bottle coke. They have patio dining available. I visited the Time Out Market at Union Square a couple of weeks ago to try the famous Chef Kwame's Jamaican Beef Patty. I went to the Patty Palace booth and I ordered the Beef Patty. The customer service was very good and quick. The Beef Patty came with coco bread and some toppings. It was delicious. I think it's a bit pricey for a Patty but worth a try. I won't speak on the other restaurants, I went to rotisserie haus for lunch. They all have a lunch special if $14 and each establishment has their options for entrees. I got the rotisserie chicken sandwich that was bread, chicken, and herb salad. There was very little sauce on the bread making the meal dry. And there was TWO pieces of parsley on the sandwich half. The bar was the biggest thing there. There were lots of tables for everyone and the staff were clearing tables promptly. I ordered from the Thai place. I got Pad See Ew. I will say that this was very good. It had great flavor and tasted fresh. Luckily, Î'm trying to watch my carb intake because the portion was small for the price. There's Indian, Mexican, Italian, Thai, Burgers and event Jamaican Patties by Chef Kwame of Tatiana. We tried every spot and each was delicious. My personal favorite was the paneer kebabs and chicken biryani from kebabwala but there is something for everyone here. For dessert you can choose from Shortbread Society (their first actual storefront rather than delivery, Magnolia Bakery, Epicerie Boulud or get delish cinnamon rolls from Sunday morning. We got 2 burgers and 1 garlic fries from Smashed Express, one of the stalls in Time Out Market. The fries were under cooked. The garlic tasted good but the taste of the almost raw potatoes hampered my enjoyment. The burgers were over cooked and dried out. We will not be going back. read more

We decided to try out the newly opened Time Out Market in Union Square. Same format, new restaurants and nicer vibe. There's a bar that services alcohol/ non-alcoholic drinks and there are booths as well. The fifth star was taken out as we were hoping to get a booth but some of the booths had people sitting in it, who didn't seem like they had bought anything but set up their laptop and was working. I think staff should pay attention to that and let them know they can't sit there w/o a purchase, especially if it's just one person in one of those gigantic booths. Nonetheless, there were alot of good choices but being a lover of Indian food, we we went with Kebabwala. My husband ordered the Chicken Biryani which has limited availability and I ordered the Lamb Seekh Kebab on an Egg Paratha Roll(spiced onion, chutney) w/ Korma(sweet onion yogurt gravy). The visual of the the Chicken Biryani was alot of fun to see. The top was nice and crispy. Was it the best Chicken Biryani? No but fun to eat. I loved my lamb roll. I had some skewers from Kebabwala, lamb was ok as it's grounded and i didn't quite like the spice, beef was flavorful and tender, the bar was abit slow, cocktails are pretty weak of what they're charging. Stopped by for the first time to check out the new Time Out Market, having been to their locations in Lisbon and Brooklyn. It was a slow Monday afternoon, so I was easily able to get a seat. Unfortunately, almost none of the vendors, save for Lori Jayne, seemed eager to take orders. I actually stood in front of another counter for a good minute in front of the cashier (who looked like they were clocking in? Or trying to figure something out on the register). No acknowledgement at all, so I went elsewhere. No bag hooks and a lot of plastics for sauces and such. Also, each order automatically brings up a tip screen before the tap-to-pay can be activated (please pay employees a solid wage instead; I'm bussing my own drinks and trays)?! I've been to a few TOM and this was not such a standout..Florence, Portugal and even Rome are hustling food halls while this Union Square location is one large square. So, when an opportunity to catch up with the ladies came about, I was happy to recommend the new Time Out Market in Union Square. I figured it would be a cool, casual option with several places folks could choose from. The first oddity I noticed when preparing to visit was the reservation system. I thought it was strange for a food hall, and my suspicions were confirmed when I arrived. No need to reserve a table. Sit where you want. First come first serve. While I waited for my friends to arrive, I decided to put in an order at Kebabwala. Oh my, I was looking forward to this place based on the good reviews of other locations, but they were super disorganized. They got my order wrong twice, and when I finally received it, it was undercooked and inedible. Maybe with some more time they'll be better less chaotic. I then opted for tacos, but there was no chicken option, oddly enough - just mushroom, beef and pork. So, pizza from Fornino it was! Quickly prepared, friendly service and absolutely delicious. The mezcal cocktail prepared by the bar was also good. I wanted to try Chef Kwame's patty spot, but surprise .. it was closed. Very disappointing. My friend went to Lori Jayne's to order a chicken sandwich with fries which took 30 mins to prepare. No line which was also strange. I won't leave this review without anything positive to say. The manager Donna was nice, as were various staff walking around checking in. Bar had good service and mad good drinks, I imagine because this spot just opened there are some kinks to work out.
