Paninoteca by Anthony at USQ Time Out Market on East 14th Street: Excited to have this amazing Paninoteca in NYC (original location in Staten Island). Huge sandwiches stuffed with meat and cheese (also veg options). I ordered the Time Out (warm roast beef, mozz, sauteed onion and gravy $16)... it was packed with flavor! The second time I ordered it, I got the dark delicious gravy on the side. I ate half at Time Out which has tons of seating and had a lot left over. Thank you Anthony, Milton and the rest of the team for this fantastic sandwich experience. Fabulous customer service. Run to Time Out Market USQ for their incredible Italian sandwiches. Taqueria El Chato, with their fab tacos, is the only other place I've tried in the market so far. Definitely would consider Kam Rai Thai, Kababwala, Fornino... This a cool little spot. Plug in charge up and get some work done. Free football table available. I met my aunt today for lunch we dined at kham thai, we ordered spring rolls shrimp pad thai no peanuts and no eggs. It was good just more saucy then I recall. I went to smashed express and got the single smash box meal pretty good deal for 18 burger cup of fried and a drink. I chose the classic glass bottle coke. They have patio dining available. A full bar in here and other eateries . Worth checking out. Nice tunes playing in the background. read more

I was completely underwhelmed by the options at the Urbanspace Vanderbilt that occupied this space for several years but was excited was Time Out Market took over, because they're known for curating much better vendors. Of note here are Kebalawala from the Unapologetic Foods group that owns Semma, Adda, Dhamaka, and Masalawala. Kam Rai Thai, known for their crab fried rice, Fornino's pizza, and Patty Palace for Jamaican patties. I went with a chicken birayni from Kebalawala, which was served in a biodegradable takeout bowl but with a thin layer of dough baked on top of the rice, which kept the saffron rice underneath from getting too dry. While not the explosion of flavors I'm used to at the likes of their other restaurants, for $16 this was a decent quick bite. The space is modern and clean, with so much seating across the space. There are outlets and a full bar at the center, so this would be great for a casual group hang out. It's never been crowded the times I've dropped by on weekends, so you can easily gather a big group and find seating. read more

Today I attended the Grand Bazaar which is in the Time Out Market this month. This bazaar is held every Sunday on the UWS and I am ashamed to write that I have not been there. Set up on the right as one enters there are a few booths with assorted goods. Leynel has beautiful flowers made of a what resembled thick plastic and in pretty colors. There was jewelry which the men were looking at. Pretty silk scarves were also for sale at different prices. A rack of clothing was also here. This food hall is lively for a Saturday as the bazaar is on and the food booths are doing brisk business. Most of all there is a DJ who is playing music. Estella, the manager, told me that the DJ is on Saturdays and Thursdays. Plus the FIFA World Cup games are going to be screened here. I plan on coming for those. read more

My least favorite time out market yet. I've been here twice. Everything is overpriced and the food is not very good. Tried from the Thai, Mexican and Indian spots. All subpar and would not recommend. I would encourage you to check out the other locations before this one. read more

Visited at opening time so all the other outpost restaurants weren't open yet. The main bar area is open early as they serve café drinks and breakfast pastries . I ordered at the counter. Service was quick and staff friendly. I stayed as it was pouring outside. There were a few other customers enjoying the quiet space. They have qr codes on the table and you can order directly from that (it notes your table number). Very convenient , beats a crowded queue at lunch or dinner time. Lots of seating and there's even a small outdoor (uncovered) space with additional seating . There are more seats than the previous dining hall that occupied the space . Full bar- cocktails, wine, beer etc. Will return for lunch soon . Building has accessible entrances and bathrooms. read more

Rum punch from the bar was really delicious it was smooth sweet and the cinnamon was lovely and the bartender super funny and friendly he even brought it to my table. I got the crab fried rice from kam and it was a big portion that green sauce was addictive on the rice and I will be returning it was delicious. read more

Im a huge fan on Thai food and when I got married last year we had my reception an Kam Ram Thai in Astoria so I was surprised and excited to see it at the time out market. The food was absolutely delicious. The Latin guys making the food very friendly. I forgot the name of the dish I ordered but it was delicious. This is a great addition to Union Square, but there are still some kinks that need to be sorted out for this to be a successful venue. 1) The online ordering system was a bit more complicated than needed - a group of us that are tech-savvy took a few tries to complete the order, some just gave up and ordered in person. Also, if it is your first time, look for the $5 off code somewhere. 2) Wait time for food delivery was too long, and this was all before the place got crowded. 3) Cocktail order arrived after food - apparently there was only one bartender working there on a Saturday noon time. 4) You can't switch between pick up and delivery once the selection is made (would require to start from the beginning), so select wisely! read more

Newly open food court by Union square. It was urban space before. The whole place is renovated with beer house theme. It a darker wooden tone. Very buzzing and lots of people. They have booths, regular tables and high tables. Also outdoor seatings are available. The market has a link for putting orders online first, not all the restaurants are online yet (https://timeoutunionsquare.5loyalty.com/pick-up-at-counter). You can also grab a table then order by the link/QR code. You can choose to pick up the food or someone will bring it to you. Service crew members are constantly walking around to clean and deliver food. Nice setup. However, those restaurants are more on the expensive side. Came here for dinner with a friend and it was suspiciously quiet! No lines, open tables, downright breezy! We decided to family style a handful of dishes, all of which felt generous in portion but still mildly overpriced (to be expected from Time Out Market...). The pad Thai was lovely, they give you a whole bucket of it practically. Also tried the chorizo, mushroom and trompo al pastor tacos -- all of which were stand out, bursting with flavor (and in some cases bursting through the tortilla). The true stand out was Lori Jayne's steak frites though. A gorgeously cooked hunk of beef, sliced, slathered with an eye opening miso Chimichurri sauce and served over a mess of thin cut and perfectly crisp French fries. Hoo boy! My only regret is we were too full to finish all of the fries. All in all, some above average food in a totally average cafeteria. I do wish all of this stuff cost like $4 cheaper than it is, considering the total lack of ambiance, but whatever. Everything was clean at least. read more

I visited the Time Out Market at Union Square a couple of weeks ago to try the famous Chef Kwame's Jamaican Beef Patty. I went to the Patty Palace booth and I ordered the Beef Patty. The customer service was very good and quick. The Beef Patty came with coco bread and some toppings. It was delicious. I think it's a bit pricey for a Patty but worth a try. So if you have been to other Time Out Markets in other countries or US cities, this one is pretty uneventful. It was kind of small with about 6 eating places and a bar. The bar was the biggest thing there. There were lots of tables for everyone and the staff were clearing tables promptly. I ordered from the Thai place. I got Pad See Ew. I will say that this was very good. It had great flavor and tasted fresh. Luckily, Î'm trying to watch my carb intake because the portion was small for the price. I otherwise was not too impressed with this market. I will come back one more time though specifically for Patty Palace. read more

Went here for dinner when I was recently in NY. Things I liked: happy hour at the bar ($8 glasses of wine were a good deal), the pizza spot, and the fact that you try so many options. This new Time Out Market just opened in the Zero Irving space and includes 7 amazing restaurants as well as 4 dessert/bakery offerings. There's Indian, Mexican, Italian, Thai, Burgers and event Jamaican Patties by Chef Kwame of Tatiana. We tried every spot and each was delicious. My personal favorite was the paneer kebabs and chicken biryani from kebabwala but there is something for everyone here. For dessert you can choose from Shortbread Society (their first actual storefront rather than delivery, Magnolia Bakery, Epicerie Boulud or get delish cinnamon rolls from Sunday morning. We decided to try out the newly opened Time Out Market in Union Square. Same format, new restaurants and nicer vibe. There's a bar that services alcohol/ non-alcoholic drinks and there are booths as well. The fifth star was taken out as we were hoping to get a booth but some of the booths had people sitting in it, who didn't seem like they had bought anything but set up their laptop and was working. I think staff should pay attention to that and let them know they can't sit there w/o a purchase, especially if it's just one person in one of those gigantic booths. Nonetheless, there were alot of good choices but being a lover of Indian food, we we went with Kebabwala. My husband ordered the Chicken Biryani which has limited availability and I ordered the Lamb Seekh Kebab on an Egg Paratha Roll(spiced onion, chutney) w/ Korma(sweet onion yogurt gravy). The visual of the the Chicken Biryani was alot of fun to see. The top was nice and crispy. Was it the best Chicken Biryani? No but fun to eat. I loved my lamb roll. It's a great place in the heart of union square w options and very spacious indoor and outdoor seats! I had some skewers from Kebabwala, lamb was ok as it's grounded and i didn't quite like the spice, beef was flavorful and tender, the bar was abit slow, cocktails are pretty weak of what they're charging. My fav place is the burger place I forgot the name, omg it's worth every single bite! you got a buzzer from each vendor after you order and get notified when your food's ready. Stopped by for the first time to check out the new Time Out Market, having been to their locations in Lisbon and Brooklyn. It was a slow Monday afternoon, so I was easily able to get a seat. Unfortunately, almost none of the vendors, save for Lori Jayne, seemed eager to take orders. I actually stood in front of another counter for a good minute in front of the cashier (who looked like they were clocking in? Or trying to figure something out on the register). No acknowledgement at all, so I went elsewhere. No bag hooks and a lot of plastics for sauces and such. Also, each order automatically brings up a tip screen before the tap-to-pay can be activated (please pay employees a solid wage instead; I'm bussing my own drinks and trays)?! Overall, the service/user experience was disappointing. The food was good, though. read more

My husband and I visit NYC frequently. We found Time Out Market Union Square and we're glad we did. Shared appetisers from Kam Rai Thai. So delicious!! Grabbed a coffee as we were leaving. Service was fast and the staff very accommodating and friendly. They have decorated for the holidays which was beautiful and the music gave it a nice atmosphere, not so loud as to interfere with our conversation. Great people watching. So, when an opportunity to catch up with the ladies came about, I was happy to recommend the new Time Out Market in Union Square. I figured it would be a cool, casual option with several places folks could choose from. The first oddity I noticed when preparing to visit was the reservation system. I thought it was strange for a food hall, and my suspicions were confirmed when I arrived. No need to reserve a table. Sit where you want. First come first serve. While I waited for my friends to arrive, I decided to put in an order at Kebabwala. Oh my, I was looking forward to this place based on the good reviews of other locations, but they were super disorganized. They got my order wrong twice, and when I finally received it, it was undercooked and inedible. Maybe with some more time they'll be better less chaotic. I then opted for tacos, but there was no chicken option, oddly enough - just mushroom, beef and pork. So, pizza from Fornino it was! Quickly prepared, friendly service and absolutely delicious. The mezcal cocktail prepared by the bar was also good. I wanted to try Chef Kwame's patty spot, but surprise .. it was closed. Very disappointing. My friend went to Lori Jayne's to order a chicken sandwich with fries which took 30 mins to prepare. No line which was also strange. I won't leave this review without anything positive to say. The manager Donna was nice, as were various staff walking around checking in. Bar had good service and mad good drinks, I imagine because this spot just opened there are some kinks to work out. When the bartender was pouring a beer the beer glass exploded and the glass hit me, beer was all over my coat and my book that I just had signed by the author was wet with beer. Ron, the owner came over and apologized but other than that nothing was done to right this incident. My coat was SOAKED. Glass shot at me and I was wet as well. Bad management will create detractors so the least they could have done was compensate for my drink. Instead I was even charged for the $4 soda I ordered as well. Skip this place. read more

Came here on a Wednesday afternoon, it was quiet , some what empty, the market and tables were clean, and the staff is friendly. I gave Fornino a try, the pizza was 1/5 at best. I got the Lombardi pie. The arugula, pieces of parm and prosciutto were not fresh at all. The parm and prosciutto tasted as if it's been sitting around collecting dust. Either the man that prepped it was sabotaging me, or the restaurant isn't selling so the produce sits around. I definitely recommend Fornino in Greenpoint if you want a better experience and quality. read more

I stopped by the new (opened yesterday!) Time Out Market this morning. They advertise that they open at 8am, but only Coffee Project NY opens then, which is fine, because I really just wanted to try a cinnamon roll from Sunday Morning. I LOVE a good cinnamon roll, but it's hard to find one that's truly cinnamon forward! Time Out describes them as "gooey," but other than the cream cheese frosting, they're 95% bread. I was hoping for a lot of cinnamon - cinnamon goo between the layers is the goal - but it was just a very average cinnamon roll, served cold. I asked the guy to heat it up for me, and he put it in the microwave for 60 seconds, but it was still cold. (Maybe that's partly my fault, as he asked me how long to microwave it, as if I should have had that information.) I can't believe I'm saying this, but Cinnabon is a much more decadent cinnamon-filled experience. The cream cheese frosting was fine, but the cinnamon roll was just a roll with a dusting of cinnamon between all of the dense bread. I also ordered a nonfat latte. I know this makes no sense - I had ordered a cinnamon roll with probably 50g of saturated fat - but I prefer my iced latte with nonfat milk. But, they don't have nonfat milk. How does a place with the first name "Coffee" and, per their description, "a menu centered on espresso drinks," not have nonfat milk?! The space is fine - it appears to be the same physical space that was there as Urbanspace Market before it was rebranded - and at 8:30am on a Saturday, I was literally the only customer in there. The staff was pleasant, and somebody who was probably a site manager greeted me when I arrived. It just wasn't worth the 15 minute walk for a cold roll and no latte. Not really sure what to say. It's a sad sad place. The workers have zero interest in being here. Tried out Lori Jayne's steak frites and boy was is a disappointment. Took way too long and despite waiting 20 minutes the fries were cold and they wanted $2 for ketchup. The general vibe in the place is so pathetic. It's the embodiment of end stage capitalism that nobody wanted to deal with. Music too loud, zero ventilation you'll come out smelling like the food. It's just such a terrible place, you'll leave feeling terrible about yourself and about humanity. Go somewhere else. read more

It gives school cafeteria. They closed what was a pretty decent indoor food court to build time out market and filled it with really mediocre food. I feel like they tried to save a bunch of money and rely on the NYU students nearby to bring in cashflow. Would not recommend as there is so much better food nearby. read more
