Cupcakes are delicious, varied, cleanly made, very pretty (that shouldn't matter, but it does make…read moreyou want to munch an entire box of them!) and brilliant value for money. Perfect icing-to-sponge ratio, the cupcakes are large enough to satisfy yet small enough to feel no guilt over having a second one. Location suits perfectly as I have to pass it to get home, so, if temptation is GOING to be put in my way, I suppose I HAVE to buy four at a time! Extremely convenient for a Saturday sugar craving. Wendi is lovely, and as a family friend, if I need to pass on any family update, then the shop is right there... and if I'm in the shop with the cupcakes... well, it would be rude to leave without a box!

A cute little bakery that I passed several times during my walk down the street. I finally decided…read moreto pop in for a cup of tea and a treat. I ordered a carrot cupcake with a chamomile tea. I sat at one of the tables and dug into my food as soon as it all arrived! The little cupcake was sweet, moist and very delicious. The chamomile tea was piping hot and exactly what I wanted. I sat at the side of the table that faces the street and got to just relax for a while whilst enjoying my food. From what I remember their menu mostly consists of the cupcakes and hot beverages! However, if that's exactly what you want then you'll be good to go. I intend on returning to give more of those delicious cupcakes a try :) Make sure not to arrive too late if you want to be able to pick from any of the flavors offered on a particular day! But I'd definitely recommend it to anyone interested in giving Cuckoo's Bakery a try.

The staff were lovely, putting up with my umm-ing and inane chatter. I may or may not have had a discussion with one of them about the aforementioned Doctor Who and our thoughts on the season opener. I settled on two different sticky confections (one toffee, one chocolate/caramel) and two identical lemon & raspberry meringue cakes - because I know that's a flavour Tim and I wouldn't reach a compromise on sharing. The sticky chocolatey ones were indeed sticky & chocolatey with a nice moist sponge, but those lemon & raspberry meringue cakes were possibly the nicest I've had. A proper light sponge, plenty of lemon flavour and the soft meringue topping is sweet without being sickly like buttercream can be. A true superstar of a cake from a lovely store. I'll definitely be popping back here - probably on foot rather than traveling by TARDIS though, mores the pity!
