We had…read morea substantial backyard overhaul and met with several landscaping companies to get quotes- Nick understood our vision immediately and in a way none of the others did. Admittedly, the only thing that gave me any pause was that he doesn't have many reviews- don't let that deter you!! Nick gave us an incredible design and worked with us to revise and phase it out for budget purposes. We completed phase 1 of the work with him this spring (deck demo and paver patio install) and it was absolutely seamless. From tweaking design to picking materials, Nick was always accessible and a great communicator. His crew worked quickly and efficiently and we are SO thrilled with our new outdoor space. We'll be calling Nick again next year to tackle the rest of our project! Cannot recommend him highly enough.

We hired Nick and Viewpoint Design Group LLC to landscape our backyard in April 2022. Our project…read moreincluded design services, complete removal of existing backyard landscaping and patio, save for one tree, pouring of a new concrete patio and hot tub pad, installation of a gas fire pit and gas line for our grill, new sod, 5 large trees, around 20 plants, and a new irrigation system to include new valves and lines. Many aspects of the project fell short, and if you don't want to read any further, my recommendation is to look elsewhere for your landscaping needs. Pros -Very solid design work, our backyard originally looked great and the design is much more functional and private. Cons -Patio: the subcontractor ran short on concrete and I witnessed them pulling what was left from the pump lines and a catch tray to complete the project. The result is a portion of our patio that has incorrect drainage/pooling, spalling and cracking. -Irrigation: and entirely new system, including valves, was supposed to be installed. None of the valves were replaced and I am now having significant problems that will require a complete replacement of the 20 year old valves. -Plants: Nick assured me that the 7 boxwoods he had planned would hold up to my two male dogs. They were dead within 3 months, replaced under his warranty, and were all dead again the following spring. In researching, it turns out that boxwoods are not tolerant of dog urine whatsoever and something else should have been used. -Fire pit: beautiful centerpiece in our backyard. Unfortunately, it was slammed together at the last minute and the internal structure couldn't support the lava rock. I rebuilt it myself less than 6 months after the project was completed. Lawn: extremely lumpy and uneven, is going to require a bunch of sand and labor to get it where it needs to be. I spoke with Nick many times after our project was completed to address some of these issues (not all were immediately present or known about) and was brushed off and made to feel like I was putting him out...after cutting him a check for $60k. Not only is the value not there, I am now paying a second time for things that weren't done correctly the first time and in some case were borderline fraudulent like the sprinkler valves.

We purchased a home that needed some TLC outside and they helped us imagine, plan, budget and execute on a phased overhaul of the entire property. Every day that Mario and his team were onsite reconfirmed our provider choice. This team was clean, efficient, hard working, and just really good at what they do. There was a time my husband and I considered doing some of this work ourselves. Watching this crew for just a couple of days confirmed we never could have done this work with a fraction of the skill or quality this team delivered. They are truly pros. There were also many unexpected surprises along the way where smart, thoughtful details in Jay's design came to life - and we wouldn't have even thought to ask for these details. We also changed our minds, cut the budget, and pivoted a few times and they didn't bat an eye. The team listened and counseled us through our needs and priorities so that we would achieve our goals. They are not the least expensive option but we price checked several items and they are very fair. Beyond that, their skill and counsel was so impactful that I would argue you'd be better off paying for their counsel and forgoing or delaying a couple items in your project if budget is top priority. We can be exacting and specific and have absolutely no regrets. Jay even skillfully helped my husband and I navigate conflicting preferences. We will continue to lean on them for all of our outdoor needs. Thank you Jay, Patrick, Mario and team!

After asking Sang…read moreto come out and give us a quote he was there within a day or two and had a quote for me within the week with everything line-itemed just as I had asked. He answered all my questions quickly and fully while we were trying to make our decision! A couple weeks later when we finally made up our mind on the items we wanted him to do, he was responsive and realistic with his schedule. His price was the best so waiting a couple months was totally worth it! Sang and his team did a 60ft long retaining wall with steps for us, as well as leveled out the terrace on either side of the wall! The team came early, worked hard and got everything done when they said for the price they said. They left the yard and driveway clean! They were very nice and worked with us to help us get the sprinkler in to both levels behind the wall. They gave great recommendations for what to do with the yard and the wall during the process! If we ever need to landscape again or anyone needs a recommendation, Sam's Landscaping will be our first call and we would wait for them for sure!

No Sprinkler Service for you!…read more I see their trucks around town all the time, so I decided to give Sam's a try. We had a minor sprinkler repair situation. My husband decided to work from home on the day, three days after we made the appointment. They scheduled for 8am. At 9am, the guy texted to say he was running late. He showed up at 10:15 and took a look. Very quickly said some PVC is broken. It would be $500 to repair and take 3-4 hours. We agreed (at first) and he said someone would start at 11:30. After considering, $500 seemed high. They would have to dig an 18" by 18" hole (which my unskilled husband later did in an hour) and replace or glue a $25 pipe. We asked about the timing and price, offering $300. He said he can't do that and had already booked another job anyhow. I suspect Sam's might be more responsive and professional for bigger jobs. It's too bad. We plan to redo the landscaping, hardscaping, and replace the sidewalks and patio this year. Sam's seemed like a good outfit for the bigger job, so we tried this test run. Because of this subpar experience, we'll be hiring someone else.

Often times our remote projects are in the western United States where homeowners already understand the value a designer brings. The biggest downfall of designing remotely is not having a contractor to refer to our remote design clients because as I'm sure you can imagine, things don't usually go to plan and corners get cut. That changes for us when we met Joe. High end custom outdoor living construction is expensive, it takes a while and it's stressful but if the communication between all parties is on point, the project is a breeze. We're happy to have aligned ourselves with Aspenwood. Our other projects in the area have been train wrecks due to contractors promising things they cannot deliver, overbooking themselves and most importantly horrible communication. This company has knocked it out of the park for 3/3 of our area projects and we're looking forward to the next one.
