We were there in April, and found the campground to be very quiet and peaceful all 5 days we were there. Over the weekend, even with the campground filling up, it was still peaceful. The spots are well distanced from each other. It was a bit cold for swimming, but we did walk to the edge and try fishing. My only complaint is the online booking - there is a lack of photos of each site, and it's really hard to tell what the access to the water looks like. Some of the spots have an easier access to get into the water than others, especially for small children. We used campsitephotos.com to get an idea of what the sites looked like.

We have camped here twice, once in the fall and this time in late March. Both were unique in their own way with the fall trip taking the cake. On both trips the morning sun greeted us ablaze with colors only to be rivaled by its sunset as the long day closed upon us. Beautiful. Serene. The camping reservations are easy through the SC website and the prices very reasonable. Most sites have a view of the lake and several are right on it. We did notice this time (spring) that several locals booked their family vacation here during spring break. Sadly, several lugged all their crap from home with them: refrigerators, large grills, full-size kitchen ovens, awnings, boats, golf carts, bikes, dogs, and kids. The center of the campground looked like a hillbilly hoedown. People were kind and respectful, but damn, it's camping people! Overall, we like it here and we will return. We were able to find a nook to keep our distance from people but some people were just inconsiderate and frankly dumb. There was a fowl smell near the swimming area, I don't know what it was exactly. The water is a bit murky. They do have grills to access. You can rent campsites here. They have restrooms. The ice cream truck came through. They have a boat ramp, fishing spots, a frisbee golf course, hiking and horse riding trails and just a lot to do.

We were originally parked in a spot that was un-level. They were open to us moving to another open spot for our stay. I also had a camper leak the first night. Staff left me use tools to fix the problem while my husband was at work. Of course, he had all of our tools with him lol. Since moving spots eve thing has been great! They have a small store for buying drinks and chips. The have a place to wash clothes or sit and enjoy the camp fire. They have a playground for children. Quiet place and the neighbors have been friendly. Everything is about 30 minutes away so be prepared to drive to get to things. If you are looking for quiet and getting out into nature this is the spot for you. They have WiFi, picnic tables and fire pits/grills. Most spots are in shaded areas. Keeps the camper cool at the heat of the day.
