I'm so grateful to have this excellent tobacco shop in the neighborhood. I'm not an expert on cigar shops, and go there for their loose tobacco, but it smells great in there and I've talked with them about how they keep the humidity fairly constant at around 70%. The two people that work there are both down-to-earth, friendly and knowledgable. It's small specialty shops like this that I hope will always be supported by the community, and not co-opted by larger interests. A big thumbs up for Timber Valley. read more

If you visit a lot of cigar shops like I do, you know there's a vast difference between the good, the bad, and the great. This place gets it right on 3 out of my top 3 criteria- Selection: the huge room has all your familiar faves as well as your unknown but soon-to-be new faves. Humidity: You'd be surprised how many shops get it wrong or don't maintain proper levels. At this place you see it, feel it, and know it when you smoke your cigar. Friendliness: the guy with the long hair (sorry I forgot your name!) is fantastic. Knowledgeable but not pretentious. Helpful but never pushy. Just a genuine enthusiast and he knows his stuff. I rarely take reccos from shop staff as it can be hit or miss. But so far this fella is 100% spot on with his reccos. As a cigar store, TVT is a delight. Finding the place was brutal and I nearly gave up after ten minutes of wandering around the area. The windows are blacked out and there's only a small sign. It's almost invisible. Thank goodness I persevered! Great selection and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoy coming here. As a longtime cigar and pipe tobacco collector, I've been to all of the great (and not-so-great) tobacconists in the Portland Metro area over the years. Most of the good ones have gone under. Foremost is the customer service during the week. Debbie is the most well-informed and helpful--not to mention cheerful--tobacconist I've ever met and always has sage advice and answers to every question. She knows everything! Weekend help in my experience is competent but just not at the same lofty level. The cigar selection is awe-inspiring and the entire store is one big humidor, so you know that everything is very fresh and well-preserved. Bulk pipe tobacco selection is second-to-none, and the tinned pipe tobaccos are respectable in number and often of top-shelf quality. I found this shop to be extremely well-stocked. Specifically, they seem to have every My Father cigar I could think of. The conversation I had with the shop keeper was friendly and unobtrusive. His knowledge of cigars was fun as we quickly discussed "liking this" and such. However, as a whole the hottest cigars from Nicaragua are all accounted for. They also have the other odds and ends you would expect from a top notch retailer. The only drawback I can think of is no smoking lounge. But I don't know if that is logistically possible. AMAZING Place. People here couldn't be friendlier. I've been buying Cigars and smokes from Hugh (owner) for over 10 years. They used to be in the Beaverton Mall before they got booted over far less worthy stores like The Gap and Golf Galaxy. Shame. Anyway, they have a SUPER nice blond lady who may be in her 30's at most who is always OVERLY friendly. They have some of the lowest prices in town, and they are a 100% locally owned and operated store. Now THIS is a cigar store...literally! The whole store is 1 giant humidor and the selection of cigars is nothing short of phenomenal. You want a $20 stick? They got it! You want a $2.85 second that will knock your socks off? They got it! Fuentes, Cohiba, La Gloria, Rocky Patel, Punch, H Upmann, Romeo Y Julieta, Montecristo, they got 'em all. Been buying fine tobacco products from Timber Valley since it was in the Beaverton Mall. Greatest tabacco shop ever. I used to shop here weekly, but I quit smoking cigarettes and moved away about 5 years ago. Hadn't been in during my smoking hiatus but recently started pipe smoking and wanted to go check out their pipe tobaccos and Debbie recognized me after all that time. There are tobacco shops in the Portland metro that have a larger selection if pipe stuff, but for cigars, I believe their selection is as good or better than any place else. Excellent selection of cigarettes too. Used this get all my Nat Sherman's, Cool Waters, American Spirits, and hand-rolling stuff from here. read more

I absolutely LOVE Timber Valley Tobaccos. They have a great selection of everything and after smoking cigarettes for nearly 40 years, I switched to vaping. I frequented a couple vape-only stores and was pleasantly surprised when I found out Timber Valley also carried vaping supplies and had a GREAT selection of products! Their pricing is outstanding also. The staff is knowledgable and friendly, something that seems to be a rarity among vape store employees. As an ecig user I like this store. The staff there has always been great and very friendly. The only reason for the 4 star is specifically for lack of way to sample ecig flavors and their selection of accessories is a bit limited. They are a more traditional smoke shop and if I was a Cigar or Cigarette smoker (24 days tobacco free woot!) this shop would have it all. Again, customer service is great, prices are competitive. Get a way to taste eliquid flavors and it will be 5 stars for sure. read more

I only buy my cigarettes here, I shop maybe three or four times a week and I always leave with a smile on my face. The two girls that work the counter are the kindest, funniest and most helpful people you can find in customer service. Prices are GREAT, parking is easy. They stay open until 7:00pm, though I am not sure what time they open. Of course this place isn't just for cigarettes but also a great place to buy cigars and loose tobacco and other tobacco related paraphernalia. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. They answer questions effectively and are very knowledgable about the market. It is also helpful that they don't try to push things because of profit -- they help you find the best deal for what you're looking for. We have the smoke 51 electronic cigarette from them, and have had no issues with the product. It's a great alternative to regular cigarettes, and Timber Valley Tobaccos is one of the only places that sells this brand. They are also quick to replace a battery or faulty cartridge for free, no questions asked. Even though we don't live in the area anymore, i won't go anywhere else for my tobacco needs. So I have never really been a big smoker. I was a newbie when I went in there. I spoke to a lady at the counter who was awesome! I think her name was Debbie? She helped me walk around and select the right cigars for me. I had thoughts and opinions about past cigars I smoked in Iraq, but I honestly had no idea what I had smoked. I spoke to her for a while and after about 15 minutes of my rambling questions she helped me select 4 very nice cigars from 4 different manufacturers. She showed me which ones sell, and which ones do not, she also showed me which ones she would have in stock again and which ones she would not. After I was done selecting, she threw in free matches and a decent tip cutter. I was very impressed. I will return absolutely. And I have recommended this place to others, at least 3 of my co-workers and 2 of my friends. read more
