Lions, Tigers & Bears, Oh My!…read more SITREP We needed some rubber rafts and scuba equipment to navigate the St. Joe River around the perimeter of Fountain Bay Ranch. This was the best game in town to acquire those items. THE SETUP You don't see Sporting Goods stores like this in the Bay Area. Hell, not even in California. I felt like I walked into an outdoorsman's wet dream when I entered through the doors of this venerable establishment. OUR ITEMS It was a quick thing to find the rafts and the scuba gear we needed at this store. In doing some pricing at the sporting stores in Sacramento and Seattle, it appeared these purchases were a far better deal here in Idaho, by almost 30%-50%. [ Which makes the follow-up point obvious: if I ever need equipment in Idaho, DON'T BOTHER to buy it in California and take it up there - just wait and get it local - far better diversity and far far better pricing. GUNS Rifles with sniper scoping, pistols like refurbished Glocks, crossbows, dart guns, sling shots, refurbished (sub-machine?) repeating guns even. There is just about every personal weapon one could obtain to take into wilderness survival if they need it. TAXIDMERMY On every wall there were the heads of just about every wild game that rifles, crossbows, darts and slingshots could make their target in the local Northern Woods of the Panhandle of Idaho. Elk, Moose, Bobcats, Mountain Lions, Weasels, Ducks, Marlins, Sailfish, Salmon, etc. etc. Just about every creature of the Air, Sea and Land had it's representative stuffed and mounted here. OTHER EQUIPMENT * Great inventory on Sunscreens (which we got), * Hunting gear & ammo (which we didn't need), * Camo-wear on both jackets and pants (which could come in handy sometime). * Lots of Fishing Rods and tackle * Lots of camping equipment with specific emphasis for interior wilderness purpose or river-purpose THE LOWDOWN A Great Sporting Store - if not the best - in the Panhandle of Idaho.

They well Canada Goose coats that have coyote fur trim on the hoods. Canada Goose has a history of using fur they obtain from trappers. Animals who are trapped in the wild can suffer for days from blood loss, shock, dehydration, frostbite, gangrene, and attacks by predators. They may be caught in steel-jaw traps that slam down on their legs, often cutting to the bone; Conibear traps, which crush their necks with 90 pounds of pressure per square inch. They certainly don't need to sell fur at Escape Outdoors. I will never buy anything at this horrible store that support animal cruelty.

What's frustrating is that Escape Outdoors took the time to verify the coat's authenticity but still knowingly shipped a damaged product without notifying me. Customers shouldn't have to pay shipping and handling fees to return defective items, especially when purchasing a premium brand like Canada Goose. For an item that is advertised at full price, the customer expects the item to be in "pristine" condition. I like the products they offer but may have to reconsider other retailers for my next purchase.
