To provide some context, in December of 2022, our daughter's first grade teachers summoned us for a conference to discuss her progress with ELA and Mathematics. At this point in time, they were very concerned that she was not performing at grade level and even attempted to hand us a packet for special education to consider it for our daughter. We decided to push back, asked for six months to work with her and tutors before proceeding down that path. We first attempted Varsity tutors, but it just did not meet our needs. Then we found Ms. Payton and Mrs. Anu, and something magical happened. Within a few sessions, her teachers started making comments about her wonderful progress. By March 2023 (the date we set for a follow-up on her progress), her teachers could not stop raving about her progress. Fast forward to her final conference in June, and she surpassed all of their expectations and is now on track to be ready for second grade. However, they make you think you're getting a tutor who are experts on special education, adhd, and learning differences. But it's the lead person who is talking with you who has that background expertise, not the tutors you will be given. After researching the company further, the amount they pay their tutors is very small compared to what they charge customers. Employees say they get maybe one week instead of four weeks of training, like they were promised. We passed, but they kept calling several more times.

He's also quite gifted at explaning grammatical nuances- there are many times where I've found a concept totally clear thanks to Hadrien, and then will stubble across a confusing explanation somewhere else and realize in fact, it's not something simple to explain. As other reviewers have mentioned, you also learn a natural style of speech in his classes that is hard to find elsewhere, but will make it much much easier to follow conversations, media, and jokes.

Unfortunately I had to stop my lessons due to work priorities but when I continue again I will definitely contact Hadrien. Apart from the usual grammar lessons, he taught me phrases that are not in French text books (colloquialisms, slang, cultural references). He is completely bilingual in English and French so he can translate expertly. I was frankly amazed and impressed by his ability to clearly explain the nuances of every word. One of the reasons I selected Hadrien as my teacher was the fact that he is from Paris. His accent is Parisian and I wanted to learn how to pronounce the Parisian way, or at least the way French is pronounced in France. I have had lessons with French speakers from Quebec and parts of Africa and certainly the regional differences in accent are audible. During the time I had tutoring with Hadrien I was also taking a class at the Alliance Française. I found my one-on-one time with Hadrien extremely helpful as I had the opportunity to clarify things I learned in class, or expand upon some grammar rule or another.
