Their sessions were centered on strategy and learning how to organize and develop good study habits and while content teaching was a part of it, our son's growth into a confident student was the most important benefit. The last session with Jason is next week. Our son will be graduating from Ballard High School next Wednesday (with straight As) and in fall he is starting at UW Engineering - majoring in MechEng and Industrial Design. My husband and I are very grateful to Greg and Jason for all the support in last 4+ years. It was really great to know that even though our sone would not really listen to us, Jason will likely get through him and point him in the right direction. No kids like more homework (maybe some do, but not mine). My method is to have them do their Eye Level homework daily (takes 15~30 min) and I reward them with their choice of free time. She is constantly updating parents with their kids progress and encourages the kids a lot. She is also very accommodating if there is some rescheduling required. The program is great and helps kids build good study habits. The critical thinking makes kids use data analysis which is so important and a great exercise for the brain. My son is so confident in Math and is doing very well in class. When we had joined eye level his Writing English was okay, but he has come a long long way... he has shown great improvement and doing great in school. That was this morning's conversation with my 4 year old. And we often have similar conversations throughout the week. "Is it a school day?" "When can I go back to school?" He loves his school! So I figured it was about time I share his and my love for his school with others. My son's confidence and independence has soared since starting Hand in Hand Montessori. His teachers have really helped his social skills, as well as allow him to work on the things he enjoys, like letters and numbers. He comes home and shows me all the yoga poses he's learned. It's adorable! The schedule, 8:30-3:30 is perfect for us. It really has jumpstarted him for Kindergarten. The small class size is also great for my kid who doesn't do well with too much noise and activity. I feel fortunate to have found a school my son loves, allows him to learn at his own pace, and he always looks forward to going.

The children learn to do works by watching older children and from teacher lead lessons. The tasks are perfectly developmentally appropriate. The kids love the calm atmosphere. My son who is 9 still refers to yoga and dancing he did at Hand in Hand. It is a great place for all kinds of children- those that are lively and those with mello personalities. Gina and Erik are also great resources for parents, especially parenting challenges.

While youtube does provide some great resources for learning ASL, having a live instructor (online or in-person) makes a huge difference. You quickly start to feel more comfortable signing, and it's wonderful to meet other students that are learning too. Don't be afraid to jump in hands first!

He spent over an hour with us, which gave me the advantage of having two teachers at once!
