She was underprepared and we only had a few months to get ready. Lisa met with my daughter 10 times over a few months and dramatically improved her scores and confidence. She did this with incredible kindness and empathy for the stress of the process my daughter was going through. I would highly recommend Lisa to any parent whose child is preparing for the SSAT (or SAT for that matter).

The proof is in their success-my kids scored in the high 80 and 90 percentiles on their ISEEs, were accepted to their private schools of choice, and earned 5s on AP Physics and Calculus exams. My son is a senior, and with Lisa's guidance, achieved a 1530 on the SAT, missing only one math question-no superscore, just one test. Thus far, he has not been turned down by any of the top-tier engineering programs to which he has applied. My younger child is now working diligently with Lisa to maximize his SAT scores as he prepares for college applications in the fall. What makes this all the more impressive is the fact that both my children have dyslexia and dysgraphia-school has not come easy for them. Whether working directly with Lisa or one of her expert team members, you can expect compassion, professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to meet your child at his or level, emotionally and academically. Lisa and her team are exacting and demanding, but with an understanding that kids' anxiety levels and workloads fluctuate through the school year and need to be taken into consideration and adapted to. Working with Lisa, I felt supported as a parent, and more importantly, I knew that while my children were working hard, they too felt supported. My kids have tried preparing for standardized tests using workbooks and online/in-person group classes, but both report the one-on-one experience they have had with Lisa and her team to be the game-changer. Not only are Lisa and her team effective, they are kind! I have enjoyed all my interactions with them, and the kids do not balk when it is time to get down to work. They also feel motivated to get their work done between sessions, so they are prepared for their next meeting-with no helicoptering from me. This is how test prep should be.

I first took the GRE 20…read moreyears ago when I pursued my Master's in Electrical Engineering and am now planning to pursue a PhD. I had always been a solid standardized test taker and achieved good scores through self-study with books from Princeton Review, but that approach did not work for me this time (likely due to me being out of an academic environment and out of engineering for 10+ years). A family member suggested I try a prep class or tutoring, and I'm so glad I did. I opted for the private tutoring with Steve (the founder/owner) because I felt it would be more effective for me given my specific GRE strengths and weaknesses, and I also thought it would be a more efficient use of my limited time. It worked great for me on both these points. The additional strategies and structure, combined with personalized instruction from Steve were just what I needed. In addition to very good instruction about the overall test and strategies for different sections, Steve added tremendous value by walking me through the diagnostic assessment for each of the 4 or 5 additional online practice tests I completed. This aspect of the test prep was hugely helpful, as it pointed out where I was spending too much time, which types of questions I tended to get right or wrong, where I needed to focus on answering faster but still accurately, and more. Overall, the weeks of tutoring, homework, practice tests, and reviews were excellent training that helped prepare me for the actual test; it was kind of like training for a marathon or other big event. In the end, my scores saw a significant improvement, and I'm thankful to Steve for the coaching and instruction and to everyone at the office for the positive encouragement throughout. A few minor things I think could improve the overall experience: 1/ I was caught by surprise on test day when a 3rd quant section popped up. I had read about the "experimental section" but had forgotten, and all of the practice tests had just the 2 Verbal and 2 Quant, so I had gotten used to that. I'm generally okay under pressure, but would have preferred no surprises in the actual test. This note is mostly for test takers to be aware, but maybe Sandweiss could also provide a little reminder about this during the practice test reviews, or something. 2/ I wish I had done another tutoring session just focused on the essays; in two of my test review sessions, Steve reviewed my Issue and Argument essays and provided useful feedback, but I did not feel as well-prepared on that section of the test. Perhaps an extra session on that would have helped me feel better prepared. 3/ This is nitpicky, but the office building is fairly old. Would be nicer if the offices were in a newer building with nicer facilities and more parking, but I understand this adds cost and all-else being equal, I'd rather keep the rates low and deal with an older building.

They had flexible scheduling, were easy to work with and the girls appreciated the sessions - there was no feet dragging when it came to appointment time. It's one on one tutoring and every time my daughter leaves, she feels like she's got a grasp on the math they've worked on. She's currently got an A in math and she is so proud of herself. They will work with you, get your kiddo in when they need help, and they are caring and respectful of the students. My daughter loves working with Mark, I wish he was her regular math teacher. She says he is the first person who has been able to explain math to her in a way that things make sense. We have also had great luck with Cheryl. I don't know what we would do without Fusion Math. They are a blessing to us, and I am so grateful we found them. I highly recommend Fusion Math. They are a godsend.

Their sessions were centered on strategy and learning how to organize and develop good study habits and while content teaching was a part of it, our son's growth into a confident student was the most important benefit. The last session with Jason is next week. Our son will be graduating from Ballard High School next Wednesday (with straight As) and in fall he is starting at UW Engineering - majoring in MechEng and Industrial Design. Our son engaged with Mimmi for college prep test coaching and assistance with his college essays. Her approach and process were fantastic for our son. He met regularly with her and a small group to prep for the tests, and one on one with her when he worked on his essays. We are very pleased with the results. He did very well on both the ACT and SAT. She was confident he would do better on the ACT, and he did. His test scores provided him lots of options for college. Her assistance with his essays was fantastic. She really helped him figure out what to write about that showed colleges who he was and what he was looking for from college. THE RESULTS: He was accepted into all but a few of his reach schools. He also got into a very competitive, reach program at UW, and we believe Mimmi's coaching played a huge role in that success. Our son was also fortunate to have been offered scholarship opportunities at all colleges except for in state UW. He will be attending the UW. We felt that Mimmi's services were very fairly priced. We received tremendous value and assistance with the college application process, which can be a bit intimidating for first timers. She really cared about our son and helping him do as well he could. She also gave us great advice and challenged our thoughts at times, and we believe Mimmi played a very powerful role in our son's journey to find a college that was right for him. We highly recommend Mimmi Beck and her services if your student is working on his or her college testing and application process.

To provide some context, in December of 2022, our daughter's first grade teachers summoned us for a conference to discuss her progress with ELA and Mathematics. At this point in time, they were very concerned that she was not performing at grade level and even attempted to hand us a packet for special education to consider it for our daughter. We decided to push back, asked for six months to work with her and tutors before proceeding down that path. We first attempted Varsity tutors, but it just did not meet our needs. Then we found Ms. Payton and Mrs. Anu, and something magical happened. Within a few sessions, her teachers started making comments about her wonderful progress. By March 2023 (the date we set for a follow-up on her progress), her teachers could not stop raving about her progress. Fast forward to her final conference in June, and she surpassed all of their expectations and is now on track to be ready for second grade. What has stuck out the most is their repeated comments of how much confidence she has now. Because they have provided her with the tools to work through ELA and Mathematics, our daughter actually enjoys it now (before she would cry at the mention of either). She even walks around with a notebook practicing equations all on her own! If you are considering tutoring for your child, do not look any further!
