They've got you over a barrel when they come out and start throwing parts. This was an install of a drop in kitchen sink and faucet. He told me his hourly rate was 135 bucks. I was expecting to spend about 400 maybe 500. The final bill was 850. I feel I was overcharged on both the parts and labor. He charged me starting 45 min before he got there but still included a "truck charge." The removal and replace of the sink took 2 hours. To me the "clock" starts on the labor at the agreed upon arrival time. When I'm getting charged 439(!) bucks for parts on top of the sink and faucet itself, that extra charge for labor is quite unwelcome. I mean the sink and faucet itself that were "nice" were like 500 bucks. So almost that again just in parts. ‍ His answer in general as I look at these reviews is that he buys his parts from a plumber supply not Home Depot etc. I would have to research each individual part to see if its price point is "fair". A perusal of solid brass fittings and pvc p traps on the Lowe's site shows the price I paid was about doubled. He acted quite insulted that I wouldn't know just how much better his parts were and implied they were all but unavailable at big box stores. literally doubling what I expected to pay was quite a shock to say the least. I received notification immediately from Clear and Present Plumbing, and began messaging back in forth with David, the owner. He was very professional and thoughtful in his communication, and patient with my barrage of questions. I did receive other communication from some other local, and nationally recognized companies, while speaking with David, but their responses felt generic and not as genuine. I mentioned to David that several of my neighbors had used his services before, and mentioned the company on our Facebook neighborhood page, so I felt very comfortable doing business with them based off of that. We agreed on the time it would be done, and the set cost of the services. The pricing was extremely competitive, especially since I was receiving "after hours" service. David offered me several payment and financing options, as well, which was refreshing. I was advised that his licensed plumber Travis, would be reaching out to me at a specific time frame, on Saturday. Travis contacted me ahead of schedule and advised me he was on the way to complete my project. Travis arrived with a clean work vehicle, uniform, and positive attitude. Thunderbird Plumbing did great work at our house today…read more Jacob came out and found the issue quickly. He tracked the leak down fast, it was coming from two parts out by the meter. First, our pressure reducing valve (PRV) had rusted out and was leaking. Second, the old gate valve that served as the shut-off on the service line was possibly corroded as well so we wanted to change that out as well. Jacob replaced the PRV and swapped the old gate valve for a new twist shut-off valve, so now we can turn the water on and off ourselves with one twist. He explained everything clearly, worked clean (he even laid cardboard down to keep the sidewalk clean while he dug), and was professional the whole way through. The reason I'm holding garden house plumbing company accountable is because they should, prior to the foundation work, check to see if they have what is needed for the hydrostatic plumbing test and quote how much it will cost if there is will a cost. With that making the home owner aware of how much to expect to pay and giving the opportunity to choose to continue with the foundation work or choose another contractor. When there is a condition to the test and that this condition voids the warranty the lack of transparency is a total disregard and disrespect with the consumer. Marco Munoz did a great job explaining but only provided this explanation of the hydrostatic plumbing test per my request after the foundation work was done and I found out I'd get no warranty for it. This should have been provided along with the contract since Douglas Foundation assigns then to do the testing. If they are a reputable company and respect their customers I hope they will stop doing business in partnership with crooked, dishonest Douglas Foundation repair.
