    Wyatt & Son’s Plumbing

We have a 120 gal. water heater that we have rented from I&M and now AWHR since 1990. It started…read moreblowing air so we called AWHR and they tried to get several plumbers to come out and fix it but all their "first choice" plumbers were tied up so they finally called Wyatt & Sons, we have never heard of them but after they left our house I came to the conclusion that AWHR should have made Wyatt & Sons their first choice. Barry found the problem right away and explained that at least one of the elements was burnt out and he was not sure he could get another one. He drove several miles into Marion and went to several stores and found 2 new elements and was back to our house in about an hour and had everything repaired and working in a half hour. This young man did a great job and went beyond my expectations and I now have a new plumber to take care of any plumbing needs that I cannot do myself. Don Hill

I interviewed five plumbing companies, including Wyatt & Son's Plumbing. When you choose a company…read moreto work for you, it should be no different than candidates interviewing for jobs. I treat each company that comes out with respect; we discuss the various aspects of the job and how the job will be performed. Ultimately, we end up in salary (project cost) discussions. COMMUNICATION Wyatt and Son's was incredibly impressive. I used the Yelp projects system, and communication was seamless. JOB REQUIREMENTS 1. Replace a Bradford 50g water heater (leaking from the top) 2. Replace a Kenmore water softener that was 15 years old. 3. Fix a 40' run of 2.5" kitchen sink pipe detached from the ceiling due to the strap cables, held in by nails, used by the original installers. It wasn't draining anymore and was full of gunk. TECHNICAL INTERACTIONS I'm an incredibly technical person and engineer. I research everything from plumbing, electrical, carpet, etc. I like to know how things are installed and how they work for the simple fact of educating myself to get the best use out of everything. Barry and his son answered every question, and I never felt disrespected. While Barry has an opinion on specific equipment, which people should have, he walked me through the "whys" of arriving at his conclusion. Barry's approach demonstrated his openness to educating others and learning himself. I appreciated our time. PRICE Wyatt & Son's Plumbing price is incredibly competitive. There are a couple of things I look at: 1. How much am I paying for parts? 2. How much am I paying for labor? Parts are a commodity. You can find every price for every item online. I'm not a fan of companies who mark up their prices. I have to pay sales tax on parts, and every dollar added is more money out of my pocket on taxes. FINAL DECISION The decision came down to Wyatt and Son's Plumbing and another company. Nothing is worse than telling a fantastic candidate/company they won't receive the job. I had no joy in sending the message to Barry, and still, as of writing this review, I'd have Barry out in a heartbeat to quote the next job; there will always be another. TO THE READER Wyatt & Son's Plumbing must be a part of your quoting process. Their professionalism is top-notch, their interactions and knowledge are excellent, and their pricing is incredibly competitive, way cheaper than the large companies. TO BARRY Thank you again for coming to the house and participating in the process. The final decision was incredibly difficult. I hope this review becomes a cornerstone of continuing to send business your way. Wyatt & Son's Plumbing should be a part of everyone's selection process. I'll be passing referrals your way as they come along.

I called Summers because we needed a fairly simple plumbing repair and because there was an online…read morecoupon. The plumber fixed the issue, then encouraged us to consider purchasing a maintenance package, which would cut the price of that service call as well as future calls and would discount the cost of any repairs and supplies. Most importantly, he said, the company would come to our house three times a year to evaluate, maintain, and repair any issues with with plumbing and HVAC. We usually avoid warranty and service packages, so I wasn't sure whether my husband would agree to it. But, the plumber said he could set up the maintenance plan, then cancel it if my husband opposed the idea. We went ahead and purchased the maintenance plan. Today was the first maintenance visit, and the HVAC guy disassembled our furnace and outside AC unit, pointed out potential problems, and advised me on whether there were major issues or whether we could wait on replacement. He also replaced the filter on the furnace, going to the trouble of finding us a less expensive version of the usual model. He spent well over 2 hours working on and cleaning our units. The company seems very committed to good service. They call to confirm the appointment, show up when they say they will, and cover their shoes with these funny little slipper-things before they come in the house. The office also calls with a follow up survey and asks whether the technician arrived on time, covered his feet, etc. They only fault I could find was that I was expecting a plumbing evaluation today, not an HVAC. I don't know where that miscommunication happened, but it wasn't a big deal to me. I figured that Summers was a national company with franchises, because they're pretty slick with branding. As it turns out, they are local to central Indiana but have several branch offices.

If it can be repaired, Rich will repair it…read moreand he will tell you the truth in addition to knowing all anyone needs to know about the subject, based on many years experience. We had a well-known company come in to check out one of our a/c units. My father who was 92 at the time and knew a lot about these things, suggested it might be the capacitor. The guy said "no, you need a whole new unit" and priced it at $2700 and said it would last a few years. I deferred him and called a friend whose brother was a commercial heating and a/c man who found it was the capacitor and replaced it for $131.00. That was a blessing but he doesn't do residential so we were in a quandary. I turned in the other company to Angie's List and told all my clients what they'd done. Then we met Rich Simpson and have never looked back. He could easily have told us some story when our compressor went out but he just found the problem and sorted it in no time at low expense. He also helped a client whose husband was dying of cancer and was told by someone she called in she needed a new water heater and her system totally needed updating and it was going to be a few Thousand!!!!!! She was in a panic and not used to dealing with these things. I told her to call Rich and she didn't need to change anything; it just needed a small repair. If you want to be handled with integrity, call Rich. All the others that I know of, supplement their paychecks by selling you components or VERY expensive equipment you may or may not need and many of us wouldn't be the wiser. Long may Rich live and remain in business!!!!!!!!!
