The initial quoted price was $1740, when the work was started the first day on 6/18/2018, Steve (Ken's daddy) with another person was working onsite. I found the woods on the crown was rotten. Replacing only one piece of wood, caulking and painting the crown on the initially quoted would not help. After I discussed with Steve, he asked and I agreed to pay additional $250 to replace the crown. The total should be $1740 + $250 = $1990. Minus the initial $870 deposit, I only owe them $1120. But after they finished the work on 6/20/2018, the final invoice they billed me $1630 = $2500 - $870. During they were working on the crown installation, they broke my screen window under the crown. When I called Ken, the owner and told him my screen window was broken when they were doing the crown installation, and asked him why he overcharged me $510. Ken denied their responsibility rudely and dishonestly for broke my screen window, and threatened me to put a lien on my house if I would not pay the full amount $1630. As I only discussed with Steve, and I agreed to pay $250 extra for replacing the crown. Rest of work has been covered within initially quoted price. I was watching them working from the work started to end, Ken never told me that some work gets done needs me to pay extra money. All the work they did and done was their responsibility and had been covered in the initially quoted $1740 plus $250 I discussed and I agreed with Steve. After I got threatened, I checked BBB KJ's Handyman Service complaints and realized that I am not the only victim got threatened and intimidated by Ken. Due to less than 1% of people posted their complaints on the BBB. I sent an email and told them again I only owe them $1120 and asked them to replace my screen window but they sent me an email to inform me that KJ's Handyman Service, LLC would file a Construction Lien against my house. Based on my experience with KJ's Handyman Service: If you do not want your things get damaged when they were working on your home, you should avoid use KJ's Handyman Service. If you do not want to be overcharged, you should avoid use KJ's Handyman Service. If you do not want a lien on your house, you should avoid use KJ's Handyman Service.

I wanted 3 ceiling fans installed including the wiring and drywall. He said it would take him 4 hours and he would be there between 9:00am and 9:30am. I told him that I had to be at work in the afternoon and that I arranged with my employer to be at work at 2:00pm. Tony sends me a text message at 10:45am saying, "I'm 15 minutes out." He then shows up at 11:30am (45 minutes later) with no apologies. Honestly, I don't know what he did for the next 2.5 hours. I kept seeing him bring in equipment into my home and taking multiple smoke breaks, but nothing was getting done. He comes up to me around 3:00pm telling me that he bought the wrong parts and has to go to Lowe's to get the right parts. His partner tells him to get some plastic covers for my furniture. Tony then says that "I can't be buying extra supplies for this job." Plastic covers cost $1 at Lowes. You are a "professional" electrian that cuts into drywall everyday and you don't have plastic covers to protect your customer's property? Are you kidding me? He's gone for 1.5 hours. He comes back from Lowe's and the job actually starts at 5:00pm. By this time, my boss has given up on me coming into work. I was ticked off, but now they've made holes in my drywall and I want something to get done. Now, it's 9:00pm (12 hours later from the proposed start time) and nothing has been completed. I told Tony and his partner to clean up their mess and leave. Tony and his partner then start arguing about how it was the other person's fault on why they got fired. Tony tells his partner that he's not paying him for the work he did that day. They then begin to argue about money IN MY LIVING ROOM! It takes them 2 hours to clean up and get out of my house. Folks, they left my house at 11:30pm. 14 hours after the proposed start time and 12 hours after the time they actually got to my house. This is beyond ridiculous. So, I'm out, not only an entire day of work, but an entire evening with my family. I spent the next day getting the smell of cheap cigarettes out of my house and cleaning my carpets and floors, because of all of the drywall. I can't even tell you what my wife was thinking, because Yelp would kick me off of here. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Do yourself a favor and NEVER hired these guys. By the way, I have proof of everything I said here (text messages, photos, etc.).

A section of the floor in the front guest bedroom, the adjacent closet floor, and guest bathroom…read morefloor squeaked. I thought I needed a support beam installed in the basement to provide additional support for the floor joists. So, I contacted Gary Simpson from Simpson Construction to see if he could install a floor support system. Gary came out and immediately noticed that installing a support beam wouldn't solve my problem. Apparently, the builder had moved a few of the floor joists after the subfloor was put down to make room for the toilet drain in the bathroom. This adjustment created the squeaking noise. The builder tried to fix the problem by installing several wooden cross braces to reinforce the now unsupported seams of the subfloor. You can see the cross beams the builder installed in the attached picture. Sadly, the builders shoddy workmanship did not fix the problem. Now I need to fight with the builder to resolve my problem. I sincerely appreciate Gary's expertise and honesty in exposing this situation. I give Simpson Construction a ten star review and highly recommend them to anyone. I will definitely hire Simpson Construction in the future to help with other projects. Gary is a great guy with an outstanding professional standard. We need more people like Gary in this country.
