I got a dozen to try and taste test, and as someone who typically says the traditional donut route and does not venture out much, this place offered lots of new donut combos I've never tried before. It's a smaller shop with no seating area on the inside so be prepared for grab and go. The prices are high for donuts in my opinion but you also are paying for much more then your typical donut and decorations. The donuts tasted good as well as looked very cool. I'm a traditional donut girl but it was very cool to try a place like this with lots of combinations. The staff was kind and very friendly and I appreciated getting to chat with them a bit more.

Half the fun was leaving mom and little brother at home and getting an hour with dad by ourselves. We made it a point to go to a special spot across town driving by others to get the best plain glazed donut or jelly filled still warm from the oven. Imagine my surprise when I stopped into Cafe Donuts and was immediately transported back to my youth and breathed in that smell from 40+ years ago! Looking at all those different donuts had me feeling like a boy again. The wife and I got a dozen. Cream filled, raspberry filled, chocolate, and of course, a few plain glazed just for me! The young lady behind the counter was patient as we kept asking what was that one and that one and... I'm not going to lie, it was torture to smell those donuts in the car on the drive home! I've been back again and again for of a few reasons. First of all, the donuts were delicious. Moist and chewy, with a good recipe. You can tell when places cut corners or use cheap ingredients. The icing is perfect and the fillings are good. I think they have the best cream filling I've ever had. The staff have always been good to us, too. I appreciate the half off dozens but frankly don't mind paying full price for anything as long as the quality is there. All those pretty little donuts on display in the shop takes me back and I can't wait to sneak away on a Saturday morning with my newest granddaughter for a couple of glazed and some milk and to spend an hour or so enjoying the simple things.

If you're vegan, they also offer some great vegan options on weekends, which was a nice surprise. Cronut fans, don't miss it, it's definitely worth trying. Was my fav of the dozen. This place offers a lot of baked goods and has a ton of variety. The service was great and the workers were friendly and helpful. In regard to the donuts, they are some solid donuts and have lots of options from yeast to classic cake ones and specialty ones like fritters. For me the donuts were a bit dry across the board, especially the fritter. I tend to like a more crispy, airy fritter and this was more cake like so if that is your cup of tea then you will definitely like this fritter. There also were no apple pieces in mine which was a bit of a bummer, but good flavor. The other donuts were pretty basic, the frosting is SUPER sweet, too sweet for me and it was a bit overpowering especially for the apple filled. The maple persian was VERY GOOD! It was a cinnamon bun donut with the maple Persian icing, super yummy and I would recommend it as that specific donut was airy and light. the cake donuts were good, a bit dry but good flavor. I wish the sour cream donut was crispier but I just do not think that is their style here so it is whatever you like! Regardless, a cute place for sure and I love supporting local bakeries and shops like this whenever I can.
