Men's washroom dirty. Dirty tables. Croissant very doughy - not light and crisp - bad. Not worth buying. My final Tim Hortons visit.

The menu choices are similar, too, so it was kind of like going home. The service is friendly, the food is good (at least everything that my party ordered went down well), and, as I had been warned, the portions are generous. I can definitely see this becoming a favourite hangout for me in Fort Erie. Update: As I expected, Green Acres has become one of my favourite hangouts in town. Most of our friends love the food there, too. Post Covid-19 Update: When the Covid-19 lockdown hit all the restaurants in town, we picked our five favourite restaurants in town -- the five places that we really wanted to see survive, and tried to concentrate our takeout business on them. When Green Acres first went takeout-only, the parking lot would still be full of cars, with people waiting to pickup their takeout orders. With customer loyalty like that, I guess we didn't need to worry much. Anyway, they took the time to have the floors inside re-done, and now that they're open for dine-in again, it's a predictable treat being there again.

Like every A&W I've tried in the past five years or so, the food is a distinct improvement compared to the food in A&Ws a little over 12 years ago (which, in turn, I liked a lot better than my memories of the few times I was taken to A&W as a kid). The layout of the dining room isn't optimal. There's a row of small tables that people have to brush past to get to the servery to pour their drinks (yes, you pour your own drinks, and refills are free) or return their mugs, trays, and fry baskets, or to get to and from the washrooms. The packaging also seems to be planned to minimise packaging waste: for dine-in customers, the drinks come in glass mugs, the fries come in metal baskets lined with paper, and the burgers come wrapped in as little paper as they could manage. I do like the food. I especially like having the option of having my burger come in a lettuce wrap instead of a bun. It's healthier for me, and only a little bit messier. (I wouldn't try eating one in the car, though.) The one gripe I have is that the apple turnovers come sprinkled with sugar. Seriously, A&W? Don't the desserts already come with enough carbs? (Okay, two gripes: it would be nice to be able to get salads there.) The gripe my sweetie has is that, even when she specifically says she doesn't want the chipotle mayo, they give it to her every time she orders the sweet potato fries. This location has another benefit: there's an EV charging station right beside the restaurant. (Although I have occasionally seen dead dinosaur burners hogging the EV-only spot in front of the charger.) The charger is free, although you have to have an account with Flo.com to use it.
