Kava Culture - Forgot to snap a photo of the ceremonial tea that was on the house before I even ordered. Such a welcoming experience!

What a fun place! I was looking for a coffee pick-me-up in what felt like the middle of nowhere and…read morefound this coffee shop on Yelp. I'm always up for a coffee shop adventure, so I drove over--and wow, was I in for a fun surprise! Kava Culture isn't your typical coffee shop--it's a whole new take on drinks and hangouts. I was greeted right away by the friendly barista (bartender?), and when I mentioned it was my first time, she immediately launched into sharing the vision behind Kava Culture. The menu features plant-based, health-conscious, alcohol-free drinks, teas, and coffees. She patiently explained the health benefits of each tea option, which I really appreciated. The first "bula" is on the house--a ceremonial tea drink served in a coconut bowl. It was surprisingly creamy with a little tingly after-effect that warmed my tongue. The barista even took the tea shot with me after a shared toast to good health and a cheerful "Bula!" Such a thoughtful way to welcome guests and make the experience feel personal. I ordered the cold brew coffee with added kava, which is said to help stabilize blood sugar and reduce stomach upset. All the creamer options are plant-based, so I went with macadamia nut milk, sweetened with a bit of maple syrup. The coffee itself was delicious--smooth, rich, and refreshing. But then came the sticker shock: my 16oz coffee rang up to $12 before tip. That's more than I've ever paid for a coffee in my life--and I've had some pretty epic brews in Vienna, Florence, Budapest, San Francisco, and NYC. I guess you're paying for both the premium ingredients and the one-of-a-kind experience. Despite the price, I'd definitely come back--if only to introduce my family and friends to the vibe and kava drinks. The shop is open 8am to midnight, and I love their vision of offering the community a sober alternative to the bar scene. There's a lot to love about Kava Culture, and I'm glad I found it.

House Three Thirty - More than a coffee shop, our community Starbucks reinvests in Akron and offers a space for connection, comfort, and collaboration.

There's also great lounge and seating nooks. I think there's even more downstairs. I'm not super familiar with the LeBron James Foundation's work in Akron, but this space feels like a great gathering spot for the community.

I asked the cashier how much it was and she stated $17. I decided to look around the Farmers Market first and get the Tote on my way out. I came back and got the Tote, it rang up at $18 this time with tax and asked if I wanted to add a tip. I said No and continued my purchase. When I got home, I looked at the receipt and saw not only was the Tote a dollar more, but a $3.60 tip was added after I said No. I like the Tote but I do not like being ripped off.

You would never believe that this space used to house a golf simulator experience…read more We came here for coffee on a busy Sunday morning. The line from the counter stretched all the way back to the door, which gave us plenty of time to people watch and admire the beautiful space after picking our drinks. The baristas were friendly and welcoming. The line was moving slowly - a combination of people asking questions and an ordering process that seems a little inefficient (we noticed they were tracking available pastries on Post-It notes). Our drinks were available quickly, and they were delightful. I had the spiced orange chai with oatmilk and my husband had a gingerbread latte. My chai was sweeter than I would prefer, but now I know that for next time. Everything in the pastry case looked incredible. We passed this time because we had finished breakfast. I'd be interested in coming back in the evening to try some of the cocktails. I think they have some kinks to work out when they're busy; overall, it was a good experience. Union Park is a nice addition to the Belden area!

Around 6pm the coffee side shuts down and it shifts. Coffee was fantastic, the space feels comfortable, and the homemade pastries... unreal. They look phenomenal and taste the same. If you're anywhere near the area, give this place some love. It's a local business doing things right, and I'll definitely be back.
