Siren Song Villa is absolutely an awesome getaway for two. The Villa has everything you can think…read moreof and more - from beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, and bag to a blender, champagne glasses, cookie tray, and an ice cream scooper. There is absolutely nothing you need to travel with other than your sun glasses and bathing suit. The Villa appears to have recently been remodeled. There are brand new kitchen appliances that my wife and I took full advantage of while visiting. We stayed in Siren Song Villa for a week and only ate out for two meals. We took great advantage of the provided cooler making sandwiches for lunch on the beach. The basic spices and condiments came in great use and saved us a lot of money from buying them all.  The bathroom was impeccable as well. It too looked newly renovated. Most importantly, in my eyes at least, the water pressure was superb. There is a large dispenser on the shower wall providing good quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Making it one less thing to pack or purchase. The bedroom is where we spent most of our time when we were inside the Villa simply because there was so much to do we were always out and about, or sitting and/or eating on the absolutely stunning balcony (I'll get to the balcony in a second). Regarding the bedroom, the bed was extremely soft and comfortable. If it wasn't for the breathtaking views and sounds of the ocean that you awake to every morning we would never of gotten out of bed. The living and eating area was nice and roomy. I would like to say fortunately we didn't spend much time in this space. Like I said before, most of our time was spent taking advantage of the balcony. Like every other room the owners significantly thought about the guests here too. Provided is a television, wiFi, Netflix, Roku, a deck of cards, scabble, dominoes, and an abundance of literature that we took advantage of reading while sitting on the balcony planning our next excursion. The main attraction of Siren Song Villa was without a doubt the awe-inspiring views from the balcony. We couldn't spend enough time on the balcony. We began our days there having breakfast and ended most our evenings there having a candle lite dinner watching the sunset and having one last glass of wine or beer while star gazzing listening to the waves crashing against the rocks below. The memories alone of sitting on this balcony starring over the teal blue waters of the Caribbean and Atlantic Oceans at St. John and Jost Van Dyke make me want to plan my next vacation back to Siren Song Villa. Pros: Siren Song is located close to the end of the road away from the pools making it quiet and private. Cons: Due to St. Thomas' terrain Point Pleasant Resort, like most resorts in St. Thomas, is located on a hill. Therefore, there are steps to climb to the pools and beach. Thankfully, there are absolutely no steps up or down to Siren Song Villa from the parking lot. Recommendations: Moe's supermarket in Red Hook, Linquist Beach, Sugar Beach, Rental car for duration of trip, Margaritaville Restaurant (wear flat enclosed water shoes if you're going to walk along the beach- if it's high tide you may have to step into a few inches of water for a yard or two), Point Wellness Spa, and the middle Pool. Over rated: Magen's Bay Beach Don't forget: Ice for the cooler, sandwich bags.

Beautiful resort with friendly staff, well-kept grounds, and two wonderful on-site restaurants to…read moreboot! We got in fairly early on a Saturday, got our rental car, and drove to the resort which wasn't too far from the airport (St. Thomas is small). Check-in was at 4, the guy at the gate was very clear in his directions on how to find the main office. We found it and were able to check in successfully. Then they sent someone to show us where the condo is and help us get our luggage inside. He was also filled with suggestions on places nearby and recommended a couple of activities within a 1-mile radius. We thanked him, tipped him and explored the resort. The place was clean although it could have used a general update in some parts of the condo. The huge sliding glass doors boosted a beautiful view of the ocean and the neighboring island St. Johns as well as other land formations surrounding St. Thomas. They were kind enough to leave a birthday card and a full-sized bottle of rum to welcome us. We didn't drink the rum but it was a nice gesture. The condo we stayed at were up the highest hill which could make for a challenging climb after meal times if you're dining at their on-site restaurants. You could always drive offsite to Red Hook, a town with restaurants and some night life that is conveniently located only about 5 minutes away. I loved the veranda view of the condo we stayed at. You can feel the cool breeze while you relax, take in the scenery and have something cool to sip on. A vacationers dream! There is a small kitchen, a nice living room with comfy furniture, and a queen bed. The biggest complaint I have is that the air conditioning unit is restricted to the living room which means the bedroom is the hottest room in the condo making it hard to sleep at night sometimes. They did provide fans but it's not quite the same. If you sat on the dining room table, you're freezing to death from the air conditioning but the bedroom you would be sweating. There wasn't a nice balance of airflow. But we made do. The resort has 3 pools. One is located up the hill, maybe 3 condos and down a flight of stairs away from where we stayed. Another was by the nature trail/near Ocean 180 and the third is right above the Sun and Sea Bar. There's no gym but trust me, just go up and down the hills a couple of times a day and you'd get your fill of cardio. Of course, if that is not your jam, they do offer a ride if you call the office but only during office hours. There are taxis they can help you get as well. We did not use either of these services so I can't speak to it as we had a rental car. There are free parking for those staying at the resort and they do issue you a parking pass. The staff were very courteous and friendly. I can't say enough good things about them. If we ever find ourselves back here again, I would not hesitate to book this resort.

Resort/Merchant Error I was double charged by the resort the day before my flight home. I don't think the resort cares or understands the amount of working hours and monetary sacrifice that goes into planning a 5 day all-inclusive trip here. I spent a good 3 hours with my bank, Sugar Bay's Anna, Laurel and Lissa trying to square things away. They needed me to sit with them while I called my bank since their software isn't sophisticated enough to see they charged a customer twice. So that morning on my all-inclusive trip I wasted at a small kiddie like table, killing my battery instead of enjoying the beach and sipping a rum punch. I figured I'd get some sort of compensation, voucher for an activity, or some damn breakfast because we sat there for so long but nope. All Sugar bay could tell me was they didn't know how this happened and most likely was their merchant. Aesthetics (Property) St. THOMAS IS GORGEOUS. Step outside and plants, trees, sky, the smell of rum and even those pesky grecos is amazing. Sugar Bay has a manmade beach but it works, and if it doesn't there's a ton of beaches you can travel to since you chose to stay at the cheaper resort. Like I've seen in other reviews there is construction taking place. It's an eye sore but they weren't really loud and only saw them in one spot (next to my room ofcourse). The newest owner is animal friendly so there's a bunch of cats around mainly on the steps by the pool. Aesthetics (Room) My water in the room (618) was the color between mustard and dirt. I let the water run for about 10 minutes and yup still had dirty water ready to contaminate me with whatever bacteria was floating around in there. I let the front desk know and they suggested I email reservations. Emailed Camille Aubain from reservations (Resagent1@sugarbayresortandspa.com) on 10/15/16. Then was instructed by the front desk to send an email to Chris (Reservations@sugarbayresortandspa.com). Neither one of them responded nor did anyone from their team. Also, don't come here expecting wifi because there is none. Staff performance The staff here is beyond friendly and accommodating! Especially Jennifer at the front desk, the bartenders, Executive Chef Peter, Chef Anthony, Jermaine, and all of the awesome ladies/gentlemen at the restaurant. I liked them all so much I almost want to go back (Almost but not). Feedback I can't stress enough that I would not stay here again. I would not recommend anyone else to stay here unless you planned to just eat, drink, and store your luggage here. Next time I'll spend a little more and stay at one of the other resorts.

Got to the first entrance and the rude lady at the front said "wrong one, turn around and go that way" as she pointed her finger and rolled her eyes. Drive around and finally find the second entrance, get the check in booth and ask tell the lady our room info. It was VERY hard to understand her accent. We ask which direction and she points in a random direction. So we look around at the little room numbers on the building that we're not visible from the road. NONE of these numbers are in order. We had to get out and walk forever just to find our room, then it was at the very end and no parking available anywhere. Meanwhile the front lady knew which room we were going to, walked past us while it was visibly clear we didn't know where our room was, didn't offer assistance. Even when we asked she ignored us and kept walking. Got our bags out and had to pull them up two flights of stairs. Got into our room and it's just a straight walkway with a bathroom on the side, got the Motel 8 vibe. I immediately stub my foot on the base of the bed. Which by the way, the bed is WAY TO HIGH off the floor, if you roll off this queen bed you will get hurt. I'm 5'0 and had to have my husband push me on the bed. And the bed itself was so incredibly hard, the pillows flat too. I woke up with back pain after 7 hours of sleep. Fridge door is backwards and hits the counter top so the door doesn't open all the way. Oh and the pictures make it seem you can walk down to a beach area, no you absolutely cannot. It's a boat dock! View from the balcony is not great. This place needs a major renovation! Don't rent unit 212.

It's got that secluded, east-end feel: far enough from the cruise-ship chaos of Charlotte Amalie and Red Hook that you can actually hear the waves instead of engines, and at night, with the right room, it's just you, the lady, the trade winds, and whatever mischief the darkness allows. Whatever happens at Sapphire stays at Sapphire no prying eyes, no judgment, just the kind of quiet romance that makes you forget the mainland exists. But let's not kid ourselves: this place has seen better decades. It's a condo-style resort with wear and tear showing in the rooms some units feel updated and decent, others lean toward faded Motel 6 vibes with dated fixtures, inconsistent maintenance, and that middle-of-the-road luxury tax that hits harder these days with inflation. You're paying a premium for direct beach access, pools, a marina, nearby spots like Sea Salt for a solid meal, and the privacy that seclusion brings, yet for a few extra bucks you could land something fresher and more polished elsewhere on the island. It's hit-or-miss depending on the unit you draw, and if you're on a tight budget, the value can feel stretched. Still, I've come back multiple times because that beach is iconic, the seclusion is a rare gift in the Virgins, and in the right light with a cold drink and no agenda it delivers exactly the kind of unpretentious escape that keeps pulling you back to these islands. If you're chasing flawless five-star polish, look elsewhere; if you want real, raw, beautiful imperfection with a side of solitude, Sapphire still has soul.

What is very interesting is that other dining options are still open around the island - it seems that Margaritaville is unique in that they were shut down. There was no where to get food within walking distance on site - I finally had to walk off of resort property to purchase chips at Louie's Market - pretty much a local 7/11 nearby, which I would not recommend. There is also only ONE place that delivers to the resort, per the concierge, Senor Pizza. I felt absolutely stranded. What really bothers me is that they did not tell me before checking in. They had my number, I had texted them the day before confirming my check-in time, but they could not warn me that there is no food or drinks on property. I felt completely misled and just stranded. Additionally, the beach is not usable at all. Seaweed is an issue on the island (especially the North and East); however, it appears the resort stopped attempting to control the problem. Then entire property smelled like rotting seaweed. I paid $977 per night for 2 nights. I spoke to extra holidays (what I booked through) that day and the resort and they were unwilling to give any refund. I tried to make it work but after waking up the next morning unable to find food or coffee within walking distance and smelling that awful seaweed smell, I had enough. We checked out and went to one of the many other resorts on the island with working beaches and open restaurants. Upon check-out, they did refund me for the night I was no longer staying; however refused to even give a slightly reduced rate for the first night. I cannot believe this resort charged me nearly $1,000 for one night with no nearby food or any semblance of an accessible beach. I also cannot believe how unhelpful staff was about this - hotel kept telling me there was nothing they could do about my charge, it was up to extra holidays. Extra holidays told me it was up to the hotel. I spent the first hours of my vacation being bounced back and forth and then had to hop in a cab for food. I understand we need to be flexible during COVID; however, I cannot believe I had no warning from the hotel and that they were so unwilling to recognize that they had no delivered any of the promised services other than a bed to adjust my rate. I am also very suspicious as to why only their restaurants and bars were shut down. We moved to the Ritz Carlton the next day and had a lovely experience. They have the same seaweed problem but are actively clearing it off of the beach each day. All of their restaurants are also open, they are restricting restaurants only to hotel guests and not permitting anyone to wait at a bar (need to sit an be served a drink, which they do very quickly). I am willing to spend on these trips as long as I can trust the brand. I have learned from this not to trust Wyndham/ Margaritaville.

Unit D8 warning- Rigid Policies & Aug USVI weather don't mix!…read more We were all set to enjoy 3 days at Jennifer's unit (D8) booked through VRBO/Home Away. This unit has a strict cancellation policy (100% refund if cancelled 14 days in advance, 50% if 7 days out). The location and unit looked great, but unlucky for us Tropical Storm Grace blew up out of nowhere (well after the cancellation window) on the weekend we were to arrive on STT from STX. What we didn't realize is that even a minor storm like this one causes all inter-island travel to get cancelled - no ferry, sea plane or small aircraft in or out for a day and a half. By the time we could have arrived on St Thomas, we would have had one day left of our visit so we cancelled. While Jennifer was very responsive as we kept her updated on our situation, she was also very rigid in adhering to the no refund policy... including charging us for the club access fees and cleaning fees (even though we never set foot on the property, and presumably she didn't incur these expenses). VRBO suggested requesting "flexible dates" which essentially meant asking the owner for a credit (not refund) to rebook for later time, but she refused. We did not have travel insurance, but I do not believe it would have helped since it was a minor storm snd no evacuation was required. My advice: If you are island hopping during summer months when weather can change, avoid this property and any others with strict cancellation policies. Oh, and I'm personally not going to be using VRBO in the future as they offered no help for this kind of situation to either the owners or the travelers - we've had much better customer service with AirBnB.

The facilities are probably a little older and they don't provide stuff like turndown service/ fresh sheets/soap or shampoo etc. Also our Cable TV didn't work but they did have a ton of VHS tapes and DVDs in the living room On the other hand, if you brought your own stuff and are willing to "rough it" (not really) a little bit this place is perfect. The condos are huge.. as big as our apartment in Boston. It has central air, 2 bathrooms both with full showers. The apartment is stocked with towels, dishes, 2 TVs, a queen bed, and guest bed, 2 couches, a full kitchen with a gas stove a dishwasher and fridge. They even provide little charcoal grills out front if you want to make some burgers. The beach is about 50 feet from our room and they provide free chairs and beach towels. Water is crystal clear and the beach is nice white sand with little to no rocks. There is also a pool but we haven't been there yet. This place is about 1 mile from Red Hook which is where you can find a bunch of great bars and restaurants. One piece of advice- Crystal cove has no food/drink facilities so make sure you bring some stuff or be ready to head to red hook if you need some grub. You can either take the open air buses to get around- they drive by ever 15 min and cost ~4$ or you can rent a car. I would highly recommend the car because its much more convenient, you have AC, and you can explore the island a little bit. Don't worry, driving isn't as intimidating as it looks. P.S- you can request units- ours was D22-highly recommend!

Ok, lets go. The staff here is very laid back but very helpful. The long term guests often pitch in to help (shout out to Marsha!) with the check in/out procedures when the two owners (Abigail and Eric) have to be offsite. That said, the owners leave their cell phone numbers posted along with other useful numbers (taxis, airport transport, Wi-Fi passwords) on a board in the common kitchen area. They do ask that you provide an approximate arrival time so that they are around to check you in. I stayed in the male dorm with 7 other people. We did have our own bathroom for our dorm so that helped with keeping wait times down for showers. All exterior doors have computer pass code locks which is a plus in my mind. There is a full size kitchen for all to use with some freebies such as coffee and tea. The dorms have air conditioning which is a blessing in the tropics. They have a computer for use in the common area (did you know the Virgin Islands have some of the highest internet speeds in the United States?) and a book of tips and info about the island. The safari taxis stop across the street if going to the east side of the island/Red Hook, or a little down the street if going to to the west side of the island/Charlotte Amalie. The guesthouse is located in Tillet Gardens which is a little collection of shops and eateries surrounding a courtyard. Worth browsing around. They are also down the street from a modern strip mall with a supermarket, K Mart, and a full service post office. The only Walgreens Pharmacy on the Virgin Islands is located a few hundred feet down the road. Good place to stock up essentials and they have really cheap liquor also. The downsides if you can call them that are that you are a bit away from Charlotte Amalie and Red Hook so plan on a little transit time. There is a small parking lot if you have your own car but it is shared with the other businesses so parking might be tight. As I mentioned there is a restaurant in the courtyard that often has music so if your windows are open then you may have some noise into the night. They do have a supply of earplugs if you need them. Finally they are slowly changing their name to Tillet Hostel but things are taking a while due to the paperwork. So you may see them going by both names if you are attempting to find them online etc. If you like the hostel style of traveling then you will love this place.

After inquiring about hostels in the St. Thomas forum, or "spontaneous, budget accommodation" as I…read morereferred to it, someone responded by telling me that the only place that sounded even close to what I was looking for was called Rhoda's Guest House in Tillett Gardens. That wasn't exactly the answer I was looking for, but I decided to look it up anyways. I came across their Facebook page and started reading about their story and checking out the pictures. I could immediately tell that this place was uniquely awesome, so I e-mailed them for more information. I got a response right away from the property manager, Abigail, with all of the rates and availability and such. Everything sounded fantastic, so it was a go. Now, fast forward to present time as I sit on the plane back to the mainland... The name of this charming little place may be Rhoda's Guest House, but you are treated more like family than a guest. The hospitality that my friend and I received from Eric (owner) and Abigail (manager) was second to none. We've never felt more welcome at a hotel, hostel, guesthouse, or any other type of accommodation than we did at Rhoda's. As Abigail will explain during your tour of the property, nearly every square foot of the guest house has been completely renovated. All of the guest rooms and bathrooms are super clean and spacious, and there is A/C throughout the entire house. The kitchen is huge and fully equipped with refrigerator, freezer, stove, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. There is also a little outdoor patio with chairs and a grill. Perhaps the most fascinating thing about Rhoda's is its place in the rich, artistic history of Tillett Gardens and St. Thomian culture. I would love to be able to explain exactly what I mean by that, but unfortunately that part of our stay is not something that I could possibly put into words. The only way to truly experience something that unique and enchanting is to see it for yourself. That being said, I strongly encourage ALL travelers, whether you're on a budget or not, to check this place out. Aside from the fact that you're likely to pay more per day for valet parking at a resort than you will per night at Rhoda's, you're guaranteed two things: an unforgettable island experience and the friendship of anyone and everyone you meet inside the realm of Tillett Gardens and Rhoda's Guest House. Cheers!
