My wife and I had a very pleasant and satisfying experience at Tile America in New Haven. The facility is state-of-the-art, very clean, with a wide selection of tile and marble. There are many displays showing the use of various tiles and marble in actual bathrooms and kitchens. We were especially impressed with our sales associate, Penny G. She was eager to please and enthusiastic about our quest to find just the right tile. She tirelessly brought us sample after sample and remained pleasant and upbeat. We finally did select tile for our bathroom and she was masterful in finalizing the sale. She worked with our contractor to insure tile and materials were ready for pickup. Penny returned phone calls promptly and expertly answered all question and concerns we had. Penny offered many suggestions which we gratefully implemented. Penny G is extremely conscientious and knowledgeable. She was invaluable to us in our project to update our bathroom. read more

Tile America helped me create the shower of my dreams from start to finish; I had a pretty tricky situation fixing a botched renovation that came prior to me visting their showroom, but they embraced the challenge and created a solution for such a beautiful shower that is fully waterproof (unlike my previous shower done with another company), and just so beautiful. Teresa was the designer I worked with in-showroom; she 'got' my vision and I quickly trusted her implicitly to execute based on the design style I described. The outcome is greater than I could've imagined, and these tiles/quality of the other materials used (they also outfitted the waterproofing and metal profiles in the shower, etc) are top-notch. You would think that after ordering and paying for $5,000+ worth of tile they would take back one $63 box of extra tile that I rightfully over-ordered (out of 3 extra boxes that I had to get) after their sales woman screwed up the take-off from a set of construction drawings. Their screw-up included other short counts of tile too that had to be reordered. Put my job back months, and had to get additional workers for my job. read more

I have been there a few times over the years for various home and business projects. The tiles and selection are beautiful! I have never ultimately purchased any tiles there because the staff are miserable. I return hoping the vibe changed but no luck yet. If I could give a zero, I would. We ordered tile, it came broken. We ordered replacement tile, it came broken. We needed additional tile to replace the broken, and the third box came with broken tile. My tile job has been ongoing for 3 months and I'm ready to have a good cry. Today's trip to pick up 3 replacement tiles? 2 were broken and they can't find the 3rd piece. Kicking myself for not going to box box store. UGH read more

I thought I might feel uncomfortable and treated differently because I had little to spend. I think she said she was new at the time (a couple of months ago), but she was very accessible by phone and in person, and friendly. If you don't ask for help you won't get it and it you do ask for it you'll get the bare minimum. They will tell you the price of your tile, not that it doesn't include freight. So you order your "in stock" item to find out it's got to be "shipped in from down south" and they don't have a crystal ball so they can't really tell when it will be shipped. Love my tile but that's about it. Next project will shop elsewhere read more

Great selection and we got the assistance we needed. But I'm giving it three stars because it seems to us that every person in that showroom has lost their ability their smile or be friendly. My boyfriend and I needed to tile a large portion of our basement, about 480 sq ft. We thought all we would be able to afford was something from one of the big box stores. After some looking we stopped into Tile America in New Haven to get some ideas, not planning to buy anything. We received a warm greeting from the staff, as they asked how they could help. We explained our situation and the manager, Chris Turpin, was able to find us something beautiful in our price range! I couldn't believe it!!! About a year ago we bought some new ceramic tile flooring to replace the floor in our bathroom.We chose a new arrival. I loved it on sight. ...and I had looked EVERYWHERE. The people there helped us with how much came per box and how many square feet we needed. Our installer (someone we've used before) did a beautiful job putting it down. We'll be heading back this week or next to choose a tile for our basement floor. I know with their great selection I will find something I'll love. read more

Yes, my experience at this store was so horrible I had to laugh. The staff was condescending and dismissive. Some staff openly ignored me as a customer. The thing was that staff was so rude another customer noticed, looked at me and said nothing. I wonder if the fact that paid for my order and just wanted to pick it up was a problem. I have reached out to find that other people have been treated poorly and I didn't have to far to find someone. It is so sad. I am so disappointed. I recommend that you only go here if you "fit in" with a crowd that thinks they are simply better than others. My money is not green enough to make me fit in. I actually don't think I have been treated this poorly in a long, long time. Shame on you, Tile America, shame on you. read more

First of all, we walked around for 10 minutes before anyone spoke to us. The woman, finally popped her head up and was condescending from the start. We are renovating our kitchen and are beginners. She basically said that since we haven't chosen our counter that our visit to their store wasn't even necessary. According to their site, I'm pretty sure I could have looked at counters of some sort. Regardless, we were potential customers that now will never enter their store again, nor recommend them to anyone. Flat out rude! read more

We are renovating two bathrooms and a kitchen so we need lots of tile. We tried to buy everything through tile America, but it was a terrible experience. No one even bothered to say hello when we walked in the door. We were there for nearly 45 minutes and nobody even bothered to get off their butt to come over and see if we needed help. When I tried to explain that we were frustrated because we had had to wait, the salesgirl told us that they were all very busy. We could see very clearly that they were very busy talking to each other at their desks. Never again. read more

Found the selection to be great--who would ever want more choices?--and staff knowledgeable; however, had to wait quite a while to be helped. Agree, staff could be more friendly, but I was there for tile, not to socialize. My biggest gripe is their grout...was never told the sealer and grout are mixed together, just shown a recommended color. Whenever the bathroom floor gets wet, the grout lines darken until dry. Looks awful. Contractor came back to put a sealer over the grout, but the lines still darken. Advise against this kind of grout and advise TA to warn customers about this. read more
